One of the things I think remains absolutely true to myself is the idea that respect is earned, not freely given. In my life, there's probably less than 20 people I can say I genuinely respect, some of them being my mother, who raised me and my siblings by herself when my father failed to do so, or my high school band directors, whose speeches were both emotional and personally inspiring. These are people who I have seen truly prove their humanity and passion, and after playing Kermit 2, I absolutely believe that Wonderful holds my utmost respect.

This is a game that serves as my hardest accomplishment to date, as well as the one that made me feel the most accomplished upon completing. I went in expecting an immense challenge and was not disappointed in that regard at all. A unique experience I got to feel that most people wouldn't, is that the bosses were actually harder than the needle for me. I've played a bit of it at this difficulty level, but never adventure games, so they proved to be way more of a challenge, and I think this oddity helped me enjoy the game even more than the usual player.

There is so much to like about this that I would have to basically take all day, but some of my absolute highlights I can try to list. First, appreciate how Wonderful executes difficult needle, most the time it is not cramped jumps in tight spaces, but rather actually gives plenty of space so that it flows incredibly smoothly, alongside none of it requiring extensive align knowledge or cancel stuff. Second, I think the dark area with the puppet kermit is by far one of the most interesting things I have seen in a fangame, the boss itself is purely spectacular and a great highlight. There's also stuff like the limited lives stage, the sleigh stage, a gravity gimmick, an order puzzle, just so much really that I could go on and on about. The final tower itself is a perfect wrap-up to the game, recalling all the glorious moments I got to spend throughout the game in a great summary. Then there's the final boss, and because as I mentioned they were way harder for me than most people, became a true challenge that left me speechless upon finally defeating it. Finally, even the music feels like a conscious decision made to fit an intended atmosphere, something most fangames don't really build upon well.

If I had a few complaints, of which they are only marginal at most anyways, I would direct them to the water tower's boss battle, probably the hardest gauntlet in the game for me due to being a two-phase fight followed by an avoidance with no checkpoint. During the second phase it requires usage of vines, however for some reason they seemed to be moderately broken in they can eat your inputs and not actually "vine" you, this becomes an especially struggling aspect when it's in the middle of the boss fight. A checkpoint perhaps after the first or second phase probably would have been nice, but perhaps only because that vine issue just makes the fight more of a drag than it would be with fixed ones. However you can see what my rating is to know it's not that much of a huge problem, it was still fun.

Overall, this is by far one of the most memorable fangame moments I have ever had, and I greatly look forward to one day attempting the other Kermit games, and some of Wonderful's other current and future productions. What an absolutely magnificent game.

12/23/22: Still in love with this game, I honestly believe the space stage in the first hub is one of the best things wonderful has made. I do still take issue with the yellow trials like needle stage as well as the inclusion of traps here and there in what's already pretty damn hard saves. The water tower is also just blatantly absurd of a difficulty spike, and the targeting attack at the end of the final boss sometimes made it feel like bullshit. Everything else is mostly superb and still makes me hold this game in extremely high regard. Knocked down my first playthrough of 14 hours to 4, it's amazing how much wonderful games, in particular, have contributed to myself getting better as a fangamer.

I came for the avoidance, not the needle. Nonetheless, the needle was still very good. Cool production value and pretty grindy but nothing that I legitimately found annoying to play. Every stage did something unique.

You should try it out.
