A fun, short-medium length needle-focused game with a bit of adventure feel through its story.
This feels like a nice progression of what I've seen in voraciousreader's previous games. Mixing the distinct cycle based platforming style which keeps up here with a little bit extra across the board. The production expands beyond the heavy focus on maker assets to introduce a little more, the platforming tries up some new designs, it adds a boss and some additional flair along the way.
The platforming is still very much the core of the game and it plays well throughout the vast majority of it. The RNG cycles seem to be an experiment here that had mixed results, some of the saves it made initial movements more dynamic which was great, but there were other times where it just resulted in slowing down the gameplay. It was rarely a concern though.
The story and general progression added a bit more depth to the game that was quite unexpected but welcome, and the boss was a fun little addition with a unique arena, something I always prefer.
Overall its solid and fun if you like cycle based platforming with some minor gimmicks, holds a solid core gameplay and seeks to refine and add extra bits over previous works.

I submitted a needle screen for this collab and it got rejected, then I rushed another one in like 5 minutes and that one got in; ever since then I pretty much think all criticism on needle makes no sense.
However, to imply that normal needle like this doesn't still get some smooth movements, just because I don't understand how it happens, would be dishonest. Most of the screens in this game play smooth, including mine somehow.

This phrase sums up the majority of this game. Every gimmick introduced to you in this game is used to make you wait or make you reset attempts. For the most part it's honestly not the worst, and I even enjoyed some of the more complicated pathing offered. But as soon as the bird showed its square head, the scales tipped heavily towards the "I don't want to play this anymore" side.
There's also a massively helpful component to the game that you can use before but is only introduced 2/3rds of the way through the game: You can save on any regular block by pressing CTRL and then down 3 times. Why this was only mentioned so far into the game is beyond me and had someone not told me beforehand, the experience would've been infinitely worse up to there.
The game also ends with a boss which I thankfully had low hopes for, since all of the later attacks of the boss are basically an instagib. Gotta love repetition!
I'm not sure who I would recommend this game to, but if you do end up playing, then I think my recommendation for this game is simple: if at any point you become annoyed, quit. It will not become more fun for you.
