Fun, decently challenging needle game that doesn't wear out its welcome. Despite not using platforms/JR/water/vines/etc. the design manages to feel quite varied throughout and there are a lot of jumps that just plain feel good to make.
The last save is a little annoying, though; I think it could have been nerfed a bit without impacting the quality of the game. To make the first jump sequence in it, you'll need to do a full rejump through a gate, which gets old fast.

The title-screen had my hopes up for a decent adventure game, but did it deliver?
By and large... yes?
The game was fun enough, the traps from the first world were all composed of spikes which left a bit to be desired, but again it was a fun experience and i never really found myself getting frustrated at the traps or anything. The second world wanted to be comparable to uhuhu, sporting similar needle style, music, and visuals... and hey, at least the music wasn't restarting anymore! The third world was a puzzle world, a little underwhelming since it was over really quickly, and it seems like we've returned to the land of restarting music... oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
Then there are the bosses... man oh man, i feel like they were more of an afterthought if anything. The bosses were all the same big red cherry sprite with unoriginal and uninspiring attacks that kept on repeating, forcing me to suffer though the long i-frames. Bare in mind this was all-the-while listening to the default Megaman music. So yeah, in terms of bosses, there was a lot left to be desired.
Overall, they were kind enough to include a hub so if you really don't want to do the bosses just make a new save and play through the good parts of the game, i.e. the platforming. The maker knew what they were doing and how to make fangames, as is made obvious through the production value in the title-screen and hub area, however it was a shame to see that talent unused throughout most of the actual game.

Fun game, I liked each stage having its own theme and each music track was enjoyable to listen to. Autumn and Spring were pretty compared to Summer and especially Winter, but they were all fun. I would definitely recommend someone interested in needlege to play this, Autumn, Spring, and Summer all pull their punches and Winter is basically set up as a tutorial for the really hard stuff, so it's a good game to play as a low skill level player.

I mashed the random button and found this. In the readme, the creator says he spent less than an hour making it... and it shows.

Acceptable if a little too easy level design. Definitely don't play on hard mode, there's a stage with no saves on it that's pretty obnoxious.

Good music, mind-numbingly easy platforming. I came for the music so I'm not too upset, though.

Improved difficulty curve over Marathon and the level design is much more creative, Terraria and of course the Doom level stick out in my mind. Honestly, the Doom level alone elevates this game to legendary for me just because of how wild it is. However, this game is far from perfect, despite the quality platforming there's some problems with Warp the Worlds that are hard to forgive. One, the Shovel Knight platforming is finnicky and killer on my hands, I dreaded each screen with the bubbles and did not enjoy myself in the least playing through them. The Doom level is incredible, but also too simple and obnoxious to control to be very fun or good in a challenging way. The final boss is cinematic and has a killer OST, but is not fun in the least to fight and the visual distortion mixed with teleportation creates an obnoxious mix that made every death feel unfair or otherwise annoying. A sour way to end an otherwise mostly solid game.

Solid game, but the first and last level are significantly harder than anything else in the game which makes Marathon a far more bumpy ride than it should be for most players, though the quality of the level design and the inventive level design (that pokemon level) will nonetheless make the overall experience be a positive one. If the first level doesn't turn a player off entirely, at least!
