For: I wanna kill the Mokuteki 2
I did a review before, but I want to update it.
So, Mokuteki 2 is a medley. I know that almost everyone hates it and I can see why. But I like this game. I can't say that I don't have fun with it.
There are 7 stages in this game. Stage 0-4 are medley. Then boss-rush, guest stages and a final stage. There is also an extra-stage, but let's talk about that later.
Stage 0 is a copy of MSR. 3 screens. The last one is ChokoChoko which is the exact same screen but just with jump-refreshers.
Stage 1 is pretty basic. Not too hard most of the time. It's unballanced but that is a theme for the entire game. There is a guy-tower at the end which is a bit too hard for Stage 1, but still not that hard. The first boss is Tyler. A lot of the stuff that he is doing is aiming at you, so you just have to find a strategy that fits for you. There isn't a strategy for the avoidance though. It's pretty RNG and can easily wall you. It's unfair. After that you get an auto-save and you just make him hit himself with his own bullets -pretty classic- and that's it.
Stage 2 got some gimmicks in it actually if you can call it that. There is this one screen where you have to match blocks with the same color or where you only have one jump. Other than that, it's pretty generic and basic. Boss 2 is Mattgryn. Pretty unoriginal. Literally cause it's a copy from one of MSR's bosses. It's still not a very hard boss as long as you know the how-to of it. There is also a second phase against one of GB's bosses. Also a MSR copy.
Stage 3 is difficult. But there is also not very much to say about it. Beat the needle and get to the boss. Which is big-kid. Could take a while thanks to RNG. Every time you shoot the boss he will do something. You can take your time and defeat him slowly, but that takes a lot of time. The avoidance is pretty hard as well even when it's pattern. At least 90%.
Stage 4 is where the game starts to get actually difficult. But the first screen is in my opinion the hardest one already. That doesn't makes it easy though. But it's overall not special. Again, beat the needle and get to boss-rush.
Boss-rush is not very well made. One of those bosses is an avoidance which feels really unfinished and bad. And there is this avoidance where you have to avoid like 50 bouncing-cherries with a pretty high speed. You kinda have to play on luck for that one and not for skill. The other 2 are not very interesting. Once you beat all 4 bosses, you can fight against the actually boss of Stage 4. Which is a medley out of all the bosses from the first Mokuteki.
The guest-stages are...strange. There are 6 of them, but you can choose which one you want to play. Most of them are needle-areas. There is a skip in Ryo-Area and SSS-Area got some traps in it. They are all pretty difficult though. Same goes with the final stage. But even harder.
The final boss is not well designed. Even when you know what you have to do it's still really hard. Also there is a needle-screen right at the end of it. It's not hard but you could die there.
There is also an extra-stage which I've mentioned before and hidden-bosses, but i didn't play them yet.
So, the game is pretty uninteresting. But i really like it. I can't say why, but i really like to play it from time to time...
