I usually try to avoid playing unfinished games because I always hope that they will one day be finished. Also, I was born after the 8bit area so this game never really interested me despite being considered as a classic.
8bit is an adventure game that still hold up quite well with a very good production (a bit cheaper in the first stage tho), some custom kid sprites and many original gimmicks that even nowadays aren't being used a lot. Those gimmicks are mostly hit or miss and except the one from late stage 3 which were very frustrating (the one that doesn't let you stand on blocks for more than a few frames), I really enjoyed them. Bosses are more a mixed-bag, they are all very learny but some are also very messy like the second one.

Overall, a good game and I wish it will be finished one day.

Really well made game. Great music, great graphics, great everything. This game really gives you that 80's/90s feel. Funny gimmicks and traps. This game is a must play for any fangame lover!

An adventure game with 5 stages. In each stage there are different special designs. Some of these designs are great but others need a long time to find a proper jump method to conquer. I like the 4th stage best.
Bosses are similar with those in the game "I wanna find my destiny". They all need players to remember their attack methods and find a proper way to avoid. To tell the truth I don't like this mode, because it is not friendly to players when they play for the first time very much.
All in all, it is great.

8bit is a well renowned forever-unfinished adventure game that has probably attained classic status. Its very easy to see why it earned that title, as it has a good amount of variety, content and quality.

Production is high, with quite frequent tile changes (most seem to be megaman inspired) and music changes keeping the visual feel fresh - sound effects (an aspect of fangames oft left behind) are abundant and add a good feel to the game. Overall, the production quality in 8bit definitely stands the test of time, though a few aspects definitely feel outdated (save placement with touch saves is a big one here.)

Gameplay wise, the game has a very distinct style that it sticks to. I'd have liked to seen more variety in how its applied but Seph sticks to something he clearly knows well. Almost all of the platforming challenge comes from working around timing cycle - so depending on how you like that, you should know right away if this game is or isn't for you. Generally when he approaches platforming differently it seems to feel much easier, resulting in the majority of the time spent on those cycle sections. Despite that, though, he uses a wide variety of sprites, shapes and concepts to atleast keep the patterns interesting, rather than just dodging moving apples for days. Likewise, the bosses follow a similar template - there's almost no randomness (if any at all) - everything is learning a pattern and every attack appears in a specific order. A traditional formula that he does well enough, but again - I'd have liked to see more variety on them.

Overall, the game holds its own well and were it ever finished would certainly still be great despite the age of parts of it. It feels like a complete enough game that the fact its unfinished won't leave you feeling like you're missing out (as some do, with abrupt endings or conspicuous gaps). I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a solid adventure game and doesn't mind a little bit of a lack of variety.

The platforming was pretty awesome. The gimmicks were easy to understand but could be quite difficult to master (especially the speed ball section). I endured 2 lovely jump-scares as well ;). Overall, pretty great!
