Soon it's 4 years since I've released this needle game, and now I think I can say some stories related with this one.
I downloaded both uhuhu 1 and 2 in 2013-01-28 and beated 8 months later. And as every first needle player would be, uhuhu 1 and 2 became a massive grind and was very glad I beated it.
I also decided to make a hommage of uhuhu 2 and thankfully Xplayerlol pointed correctly but my needle making was kinda meh when I made this so there are some mistakes as well.
But gameplay of 'grindy wall of bricks' was intended because I wanted to give you a similar experience when I first grinded uhuhu 1 and 2 so I can understand if there are some negative points.

Pretty good game faithful to original uhuhu spike series.
There are some saves that are way harder than others, and most of them were not really fun to play.

Fun music medley needle game inspired by Uhuhu Spike 2. The jumps are as unusual as you would expect, the visuals are pretty and the music choice is pleasant (I'm pretty sure this music was used in another Uhuhu-like, but I can't remember which one. Edit: Found it, it was the Uhuhu Spike 2 stage from IWBTPermanence). However, when it's not fun, it's really not fun. The gate jump gauntlet and that one screen transition into a drop gate are particularly gruesome and I hate both of them. I also used to hate some other saves (A lot of other saves, in fact), but those I can blame on my old keyboard being unable to pull off low jumps consistently.
Now that we've talked about Mayuri Spike 2 as a game, let's take a moment to talk about the game as a homage. Compared to other games of the genre, Mayuri Spike 2 goes a few extra miles to mimic its inspiration. It borrows not only the jump style from the Uhuhu series, but also the game's structure (See last 6+ screens, for instance), entire screen layouts and even obscure gimmicks whose presence in the original I didn't even remember. However, at times, it feels pretty disjoint from the source material. While the layout looks similar, the difficulty makes the gameplay feel completely different. While the original feels like a fluid, chill journey, this game is a grindy wall of bricks. When you have one to three tricky and unusual jumps in a save, it feels like a Uhuhu Spike save. When you have like ten of these jumps in the same save, the game starts to feel like an easier FTFA-like. This is obviously not a complaint, just an observation. For a game that borrows so much from Uhuhu Spike 2, it's remarkable just how different it feels to play. Although, maybe due to this difference in style, this game does feel overly long, even though it's the same length as Uhuhu Spike 2. In that sense, being this much similar to the original is a detriment to the gameplay.
Long story short, it's an interesting homage and a fun game despite its few (really irky) hiccups. Would recommend, but beware that this is much harder than most Uhuhu-likes.

Decent uhuhu clone that really replicate the style of og uhuhu quite well. It's nothing outstanding but enjoyable nevertheless, however there are two rooms near the end that skyrocket the difficulty by having thrice as less save per room so be aware of that.
