Version 1.01 Update 2019/11/18
- Audio balance of last area track fixed
- Blue area screenwrap made more obvious
- Minor tiling fixes for the second last area
Thank you for playing my game! For a little insight on this game, it was mostly a project with no real plan, I mostly just came up with ideas on the run, which then lead to the dream theme. I initially had planned to think of more gimmicks to use, but struggling to come up with any good ones it turned out to mostly be needle. I'm not really terribly proud of it, even though the environments and overall mood turned out pretty good in contrast. I'm definitely going to plan out my next game better to ensure it's more in line gameplay wise to what I want.

Lots of good and interesting gimmicks, with chase sequences at just the right difficulty for the rest of the game. Not a fan of the grey zone, but the whole idea of chasing up coins through different areas worked really well otherwise.

This game is perhaps one of my favorite needle experiences so far. The final part of the game is a thrill to play.

This game was quite a treat to play the way it was set up. A well rounded adventure with a bit of a chase scene for a couple of the areas. Would have liked to have fought a boss at the end though but awesome job with the game.

I love love LOVE the atmosphere of this game. I Wanna Defeat the Eater of Dreams just oozes with personality and mood in the best way possible, matching the likes of Abducted and other such dopamine games; yet, unlike Abducted, this game lacks in the needle/pathing aspects, so where do I stand?
Well, even with that as fact for me, I still quite liked the game. I much prefer this atmosphere to that of Abducted as I believe it amps the creep factor up by a fair bit more, and the needle itself is passable. The atmosphere, however, is not enough to carry this game to greatness. My one big gripe with the game, however, was the abstruse directions. It's not totally obscure, but I wandered through the first half of the game with basically no clear idea on if I was wandering in the correct way or not. Finding the fourth area was actually a bit of a debacle for me, to the point of needing to pull up a video.
Once I found the fourth area, however, the experience became a fair bit better. There are two chase scenes after this point that both stand as the supreme sections of the game in terms of needle and are both quite good. The rest of the game too was more enjoyable, with the fourth area being the best in how the ball objects were laid out.
I would recommend Eater of Dreams easily. The mood is more than enough to make it a worthwhile experience, even if the needle is not as good as I'd like it. If the difficulty were higher and thus gave more room for creativity, this could have been something truly excellent.

Very cool beginner friendly fangame, especially useful for those that are interested in abducted, but aren't good enough for it just yet. Personally I'd say its a little better designed than abducted, but I do almost wish it was just a little harder, maybe around the high 30s to low 40s range. Its still cool as it is though, and I would recommend trying it even if easy fangames are boring to you.
