Heart Beats is a wonderfully varied, extremely lengthy, adventure game. The sheer amount of work that went into this game is frankly astounding, with so many things that the average player won't even see. This includes 50 different pokemon fights, a selection of arenas you only have to pick one from, and of course the infamous secrets. I'll admit to not doing the secrets myself, as they're far harder than the rest of the game, but I know they involve several entire areas, whole bosses, and something that's practically a game of its own.
The variety is really to this game's favor, as there are admittedly parts that don't work well. The biggest sticking points for me are the pokemon boss, a tedious fight with lots of learny stuff deep into the fight, and the final phase of the final boss, which was just a very weak fight that felt like it too often punished you for attacking. This in particular was a lame way to end the game, since the first two parts of the fight are top notch. Another complaint is that a lot of stuff in the Hollow knight area feels out of place. It felt like the dev didn't put in the same level of care when importing assets as they did in the other stages.
Downers aside, most of this game is simply incredible. There are a lot of super fun references and gimmicks, notably the Celeste stage and the sky stage, and tons of super fun bosses, like the Celeste wizard and the Destination fight.
I know I spent more time talking about the negatives than the positives, but I truly think this is an amazing game, I just don't have much to say other than "that stuff is good"! I would absolutely recommend this to experienced adventure fans looking for their next epic game.
One final note, I do think the average difficulty here is much too low. Maybe I'm just washed, but the final boss got quite tricky. I think this is vastly more difficult than anything I have rated at a 50, so keep that in mind if you're a player worried about difficulty!

This review is now based on a 100% Clear, however the following paragraph in brackets was based on my any% playthrough from 2 months before. The rest is the updated review.
[Very cute and large adventure game, it has a lot of stages ranges from a variety of different games, and they are pretty solid. I enjoyed most of the games content, both platforming and bosses, however I think there was a relatively weak spot in terms of the Hollow Knight area, which was still quality, but I liked it quite a bit less than the rest of the game. Besides that though, it's consistently good, and the final boss, all 3 phases of it that is, is very good. Definitely a high tier adventure experience.]
Going back to this game for 100% really opened my eyes not just to how fun the main game truly was, but also the sheer amount of effort and work put into this game. There's so many secrets, over 30 to find and almost all of them provide a distinct challenge from the last, from a tricky platforming room, a new gimmick, and entire new area, or a new boss, almost all of which were really fun to play. There's just so much variety and substance, one of my favorite parts was the pokemon area where you need to hunt all the pokemon for the secret, or the hollow knight area getting a brand new section, a hive with lots of cool platforming and even a boss. I also really enjoyed some of the new fights, the biggest standout is probably the Gleeok fight, which while mildly frustrating at times, was really enjoyable in spite of that. Overall I think doing this content is well worth it even in spite of some rough patches, like the occasional generic hard needle save or the miku avoidance, which was probably the worst part of the game for me, and even then I didn't hate it. With it's difficulty, it might not be a "must play" but if you have the skill, I think it's well worth trying out this games additional content, it's some of the most robust secret content you'll ever see in a fangame.

Review based on Non-Olympic Version (EX).
Stop the Heartbeats is one of the most well-produced Adventure games out there and delivers with a load of passion. Full of variety and exciting segments, it's undoubtedly a must-play for all who enjoy fangames.
This really feels like a true love letter to the video games that Tonkotsu enjoys, and is laid out in stages that represent each one of them. In one segment of the game, you'll go through one of the most interesting Celeste stages in a fangame, whereas another is a Pokemon area with over 50 random encounters you can find. There are various gimmicks throughout the world, none of them requiring much skill to learn thus making them pretty friendly. The bosses are quite a spectacle as well, with quite a lot of them being pretty enjoyable. By the end of the game, you'll also be invited to partake in an optional secret hunt that will unlock whatever unfinished content is beyond a great door. These secrets are absolutely insane, some of them are whole levels, one is literally a 100-floor game you have to do deathless, and another requires speedrunning the entire game.
I will mention that Stop the Heartbeats came close to being my favorite Adventure game, but so many factors dropped it out of the running pretty quickly. First, the game does have a lot of traps, and while some are funny I also found a lot to be placed near the end of saves, even ones that weren't exactly easy. I also thought the platforming started to fall short near the final few stages, it becomes far too Needle-y with stupid jumps like T-Bones being placed at the end of long saves (and again followed by a trap) or is riddled with visual challenge gimmicks that keep the screen in darkness. Bosses also have the fault sometimes of having way too much health, to the point their fights actually become boring especially when they keep their hardest attacks at the end and are way easier up to that point. I think my last general complaint is that every boss in the game has some sort of unskippable cutscene, this was extremely damn annoying and took up probably like 15-20 minutes of my playtime, just add a fucking skip button.
But these factors aside, I think the main thing dragging this game down for me is the absolutely pitiful endgame fights in the final stage. The first involves an Attack-Avoid format in which you gotta rotate through about 8 phases, with all the hard shit being the last few (this is also a big problem with every other boss too). The final phase is extremely chokable and even ends with a fucking trap as the final attack. The second fight is an avoidance that is extremely unbalanced and once again saves its hardest stuff for the later parts of the fight, which basically ends up being an extremely fast burst and shooting. And of course, there's the final boss, it once again starts with an annoying unskippable cutscene and also felt pretty under par compared to literally every other boss in the game. This whole stage felt like such a disappointment to what the game was before, don't end your game with terribly balanced fights or a boss that ends with a trap, it truly made me walk away with a sour taste in my mouth.
Overall, I do still think Heartbeats is an amazing game, but I also wish if the final update comes out that it actually tackles these issues I have as well. There's so much potential here, I really would love to rate this game a 10 someday because I think it truly deserves achieving that, but for now, I just cannot. Either way, I'd still recommend it, and hopefully one day we'll see the finished product in full.

A very solid, long adventure game based around a variety of mostly more contemporary games, which I really appreciated (not that there's anything wrong with it, but love seeing some more non-mario/kirby etc stages).
Note: the game has an optional death limit, I don't remember it clearly saying in game, but you can set it to 0 to disable it.
Production wise, its generally very good. The various games are captured very well, there's tons of small details and nice effects to polish it up and great application of sound effects and fitting music throughout. There were some small things from a production value that I wish were changed (such as the camera movement being awkwardly slow), but nothing major.
The platforming is probably the weaker part of the game, though its mostly good. The traps felt like afterthoughts and while there were a few good ones, they rarely felt like they added anything to the game, and sometimes detracted.
The bosses were the highlight, and theres a lot of them spanning the various different games or just sprinkled in besides that. Lots of variety and mostly being fair and fun.
The one major drawback the game had, which may be a side effect of being a competition/race game? was that there's a fair bit of time wasting. Bland traps at the end of saves or unskippable boss transitions/intros that are 15-20 seconds long really add up over time without adding much. This makes it a bit hard to recommend to an absolute new player, since resets will pile these up but for an experienced player, they'll likely just be more nuisances than actual problems. I wouldn't have minded if it were a small number of incidents, but there are a lot of them and it was far and away the least enjoyable aspect of the game.
Overall, it was really good. Anyone with a bit of experience under their belt, likes adventure/variety games and looking for something fairly easy to play should give this a shot. It has a great amount of quality content. As above, if you're a brand new fangame player, I'd probably wait a bit on it, but otherwise, give it a try.
