I'm not going to lay in too hard because this is the maker's first game, and for what it is it's pretty good. The needle in stage 1 reminds me of some of the stuff you could see in 2016-2017, that by today's standards isn't too difficult; the game picks up a bit in stage 2 and I think having a difficulty below 50 for this game completely fails to show how difficult it gets at its peak.

I appreciate the artistic intent and the music choices are very good. I do have minor complaints regarding the visuals; I appreciate what was done, but the tiles in stage 1 do really blend in with the backgrounds, especially towards the bottom of each screen. The rotated spikes and the triangle layouts were a cool touch for stage 2, though they do look a bit scuffed the way they are and climbing up the walls is a little iffy (for future reference, RedBatNick's recently released engine supports slopes scaling up to 4x the normal height! Think making use of smth like that could be cool for a future project perhaps). I'd maybe try to clean up the outlines personally but it doesn't affect the gameplay too much so it doesn't really matter. Stage 3 (could I call it a stage? It is rather short) was a bit suddenly bland I would say but at this point I'm nitpicking over the what-coulds I'm used to for my own stuff so I'll leave it at that.

I do think, while the platforming in stage 1 isn't necessarily unique, I don't think it matters too much. I found it fun for what it was. I do think stage 2 was a bit clunkier in comparison (and maybe that was intended); there were a couple jumps I thought were rougher than they should have been maybe.

For a first game you had good ideas, for sure, and it is a very good start. I see promise from you so I encourage you to continue making stuff and getting better at it.

Anyone rating this game below 55 difficulty is living in a delusion.

The visuals are bad, obscuring the platforming. This is especially egregious in the first stage, which happens to have a host of garbage death-appending jumps, culminating in horrific third and fifth saves.

Screen 2 of the second stage is no less obnoxious. I hope you like shitty 16-pixels and platform grabs.

I didn't die in the "third" stage. Truly terrible balance.

3.5 rating is being generous because, ultimately, atmosphere doesn't matter if the gameplay sucks. A golden turd is still a turd.

It's kinda creative, but has awkward jumps here and there. I still believe it's decent game

A short ambient needle game using some light gimmickry but mostly just straightforward needle. It sets out to generate an atmosphere first, which it does well. Gameplay wise, the second area is quite unique and was neat in its own way, but it could definitely have gone further.

Overall, a short and enjoyable experience with atleast a little bit to stand out with.

surprised no review mentions the obvious catharsis influence here. its a pretty short needle game, consisting of 3 stages, although its only about 9 or 10 saves total. The aesthetic is nice and there was obviously a vision from the creator here, at least aesthetically. The low production value hampers the experience after the first stage, but the music picks were mostly on point. The needle leaves a lot to be desired, and the slope-needle rooms come off as annoying rather than unique.

It's the first game from this creator, so I won't leave any harsh rating, because despite the shortcomings I see a lot of potential here, and I think with more gamemaker experience and more time spent designing needle and learning what works, we could easily see a masterpiece from this creator.

If you intend on playing this, just know the overall diff rating is not accurate at all, and that the first screen (especially save 3) is by far the hardest part.
