A two screen L-game. Contains one normal and one EX stage, as well as two secrets. Thank you especially to all the testers for helping me make this game the best it could be. <3

I feel like I appreciate L needle a bit more now
The help txt really helps, even if the bad apple align jump still sucks, but nice game overall

Top tier beginner L-game. The game includes a lot of production value, way more than most L-games. The game was visually and aurally pleasant, and you can tell that Phg put a lot of effort into everything, not just the jumps. The jumps themselves are really fun, with a lot of unique aspects. The two hardest jumps have align strats included in a file, which is nice to see and should become the norm for the genre, especially in beginner games. The hardest jump is a bad align apple gap, but it's really cool and worth the extra difficulty. As someone with needle experience but little L-needle experience, this game managed to teach me some new tricks, which is always nice to see. I really like how the save balance works out, the hard saves have some easy saves in between. This game also features some cool water grabs, one of my favorite things. The spike designs are good too, I like the minispike lines and the apple bracket, and it makes the game more visually memorable than the usual L-needle spike spam. The one part I didn't like as much was the final save, it's an apple corner that just feels like the kind of jump that you just bash your head into until you get lucky. I didn't finish extra cause I'm bad, but it looks like it has some fun stuff as well, and manages to continue the style from the first screen while still becoming its own unique thing. I did complete the second save, which has another fun water grab jump. Overall, this is a great game, and even educational about some niche tech, particularly regarding apple aligns. I'd recommend this for anyone who even remotely likes L-needle, as the difficulty is no barrier for most people with needle experience.

Disclaimer: I tested this.
Rating/difficulty are based on the base game, not on extra. Extra has two very hard jumps—a strange squished water plane and an animation-dependent squished apple corner/diagonal—that are well beyond the difficulty of the rest of extra. Both are possible; however, the latter jump is not worth grinding for because the animation dependency has a very narrow window, and renex engine resets the animation cycle after every death. This is a serious issue because the animation cycle doesn't line up properly for fast retries; instead, you have to sit there and wait for some indeterminate amount of time to hope for luck to be on your side. It's way easier to do in Jtool because the cycle doesn't reset on death, so you can grind it to your heart's content.
Update: I did the jump with a 5f 8p method, left wall align, and waiting about half a second between attempts. It's still not worth doing in my estimation.
So yeah, I would not recommend extra in its current state. Difficulty-wise, I would say it's mostly 55–60, with that one jump putting it at something higher that I'm not sure how to quantify. Figuring out strats that worked for the two jumps was kind of fun, so I'll give it credit there, and there are a few pretty darn cool manoeuvres.
Base game is good. The jumps are fairly lenient, with the exception of another (much easier) animation-dependent apple align. Aside from that one, they're fairly fun to execute, and good players will cruise through the game with ease. I think the base game would benefit from being one screen longer, though its current length is not a detriment. Players new to L-needle should consider playing the base game.

Easier difficulty L needle with some difficulty balance issues in a couple saves, more noticeable in the extra stage. If you liked dono's take the L series you'd probably enjoy this for similar reasons. Comes with a strat guide for some of the tech-y jumps but it's nothing super crazy and if you possess base level align and jump knowledge you won't need to reference it.
More experienced players may want to try skipping several saves for a challenge.
