Randy's avoidances really have such a unique style. Fun short avoidance, there's a variety of attacks that all felt good to read. There's one visual challenge attack, which I loved, I find avoidances really interesting when they challenge you to do reads in a novel way.

I honestly love visual challenge avoidance. The changing colors attack and the rotating bit were really fun. The bullets changing directions after the star is unfortunately a bit learny, but the game is short and easy so it doesn't really matter.

A two screen L needle game designed for newer players. It's still pretty tough, requiring some low jumps and very precise movements, but no tech. It's decently fun, with some variety, such as some drops. However, it's ultimately still a bit samey, with an over-reliance on similar movements and diagonal-esque jumps.

Wow, I really love the aesthetics here. The first stage in particular has a great look. It really lives up to the dopamine style it's going for. The needle does a great job of recreating that cramped Tethys feel. It has the same vibe of needle that looks like it shouldn't work, but actually is really fun to play.
I feel like I should have more to say because I quite liked the game, but it ultimately boils down to "yeah it's like Tethys". So yeah. Recommend.

Comparing this game it doesn't really do much or achieve anything but I don't think that's the point of it, it seems to be more of a showcase of loose-ly replicated fangame physics etc in GDevelop (I don't really know what this is, it's my fist time hearing about it).
If this was a game that I'd have to download to play I would understand being quite harsh on it, but the fact I can play it in browser quickly does give it some intrigue, even though it's a very quick game and uses default everything.
I am, inherently posting this review since I think the 0.1 rating is a bit harsh, it seems to be the creator's first game and they had passion to make a fangame in a (to my knowledge, basing of that i've never heard of this before) niche engine thing, giving it a 0.1 instantly with a snarky review calling it both a shitty game and shitty engine just seems unnecessarily mean to a newcomer.
Yes it's not great, the game itself isn't much, and the engine does feel pretty clunky, but c'mon, can't we be at least somewhat nice to people who want to share their passion?

I sadly was not able to completely clear this one because a few avoidances were far above my skill level (and one of them crashed my game every time!), but the stages I did clear / partially play were extremely good. It's a collection of avoidances that all use a black and white theme, and they're all pretty unique amongst each other. I appreciate the easy avoidances; this is definitely a good beginner recommendation to people wanting to get their feet wet with the genre.
BloggerOP brought up "A Soft Flower" as their favorite, and I'm inclined to agree. The mirrored attacks are super sick and the whole thing is just really hypnotic and chill. "A Cute Tester" was also really good even though it's very learn-heavy. The only one I didn't really like was the Hazbin Hotel one just because of the song choice...
But overall, this is a really high quality fangame-- a diamond in the rough, if you will. I'm glad the Fangame Awards is able to shine a light on games like this, and I will definitely be checking out more award nominee games.
