For: I wanna be the Neon
For those looking for inventive fangame needle design, their first direction must be Thenader2, an expert in making colorful, shiny experiences, and this game is the one I recommend the most as his first neon needle game. With a blast of a soundtrack and introducing, for many beginner gamers, the dotkid gimmick, this comes as a good training/exercise in intricate spike jumps involving timing and distance, while you are inspired and pumped up to keep going with the music, especially Rainstate by "Alloud", an amazing song that you can even listen in Spotify!

The outline kid design that, supposedly, was popularized by Sunbla and Ultragamer in I Wanna Sunspike is replicated here in a colorful fashion. Gravity segments are used creatively and replay value is decent.

This must be your first neon experience, and if you are into needle games with little troll gimmicks, hit this happily with the speakers on and loud! (Don't worry about the death sound; it's minimal and it will be lessened down even afterwards)

Note: Great looking cover of the game, by the way! Many creators get lazy at that (not that it matters much), but not Thenader2.

For: I wanna conquer the blow game 3
So now here we have "something". The final I Wanna Conquer the Blow Game delivery ramps up the difficulty curve in reasonable ways and is specifically aimed towards those that played the first two games, learning the mechanics and gimmicks of fangames without really suffering through them. Stages are made in a better fashion, the opening tower looks impressive and will prove to be a challenge of precision and timing for newcomers towards the ending where classic, difficult jumps will be required in other fangames. The diamond gimmick has me in a neutral pose: it is frustrating, but it is also creative and will test your patience for the better or for the worse.

A very bland and forgettable initial experience, however, is rewarded towards the ending, in which the faithful player goes through an episode of memorabilia where he/she must beat her first boss rush containing all previous bosses from the games culminating with literally one of the funniest, drug-induced final bosses.

I am not a fan of this series at all and there are much better options for beginner fangames, but improvement is improvement and one must be able to see it.

I could see an improvement alright, even though it was minimal. It would seem like the original creator envisioned a trilogy through which the beginner player could advance and learn new gimmicks and tricks, and is certainly more recommendable as a beginner fangame even though it is a sequel, although there is a light "progression of events" that will culminate in the last Conquer the Blow Game entry.

I don't recommend this, really. You could play it once just to build up confidence and realize later on that you can't remember almost anything about it, but again, if the only purpose was to prepare new gamers, then it fulfilled that purpose.

The only reason I wouldn't recommend this as a first fangame is simply because it is incredibly flat, non-creative and unplayable entertainment-wise. What the creator might have envisioned as a beginner's experience was hurt by the sacrifice of good level design. Before you reach half the challenge, you will wish the experience is finally over.

The only worthy thing is the final boss which requires the infinite jump gimmick and is somewhat fun to defeat. Other than that, there is nothing to look for in here.

For: I wanna challenge 100 trials!!
Yes, I approve. Level design is very decent, the difficulty curve is not a curve (it is a perfectly suitable linear function) and although bosses are far from surprising, the experience is worth it, culminating in a very subtle medley experience inviting people to dive further into a world they are yet to discover! There is high replay value for those that want to increase their confidence in making progress faster and the optional harder routes and other hidden routes add to replayability. I certainly recommend this as a first fangame.

For: I wanna Sunspike
Believe it or not, this was my third fangame experience. I decided to postpone I Wanna Kill The Guy until it was finished and, after conquering everything to be done in Boshy, I said to myself: "Yeah, Sunspike looks like something I can handle."

Surprise, surprise! Welcome to everything that you never prepared yourself for because Delicious-Fruit.com was entirely unknown to you: the engine that rules almost all fangames, double-spike jumps, triple-spike jumps, gate jumps, diagonals of different heights, corner jumps, mini-spike jumps, F-jumps, allignment planning and jump-cancelling (not mandatory, but it helps a lot during Stages 5 and 6). Only 30 screens with an exponential difficulty curve and an amazing avoidance boss that I won't spoil featuring one of my favorite vocaloid songs: Six Trillion Years And Overnight Story by IA, a boss that is normally featured among the 50 most difficult avoindance bosses ever (at least for a 2015 ranking).

What was I thinking? Nothing, really! I wasn't thinking because I didn't know! Was my endlessly frustrating experience awarded with something? Well, thanks to the endurance preparation of never giving up that Kayin and Solgryn awarded me with, the answer is yes: not only the difficulty curve is exponential, but also the design's quality: you move on from funny screenshots to futuristic settings, great music choices (including a remix from Chrono Trigger) and my first experience with the infamous "sphere", which is certainly an entirely creative and innovative pattern attack.

I finally get to know this community, and it turned out to be a "Veteran" experience. The dozens of thousands of deaths made sense now, but the payoff is that most of the fangames that are between the 40-59 difficulty score range feel so light now.

So, I blame my ignorance of fangaming, but I also thank this game for making me discover my endurance limits and for preparing me so well for games that were "easier" and more popular.

On a sidenote, the platforming is not generic: it is well designed, and the save placement is well distributed. In a few words, the experience is very cool.

And yes, the final platforming screen is hell. It is no coincidence that it is featured in the second screen of Stage 4 Kamilia 3 (the first screen of Stage 4 of K3 is also the second most difficult screen in this game for me).

For: I wanna use Snow magic
I'd hesitate to recommend this as a beginner experience regarding avoidances. There are some gimmicks you are guaranteed to die in the first try (and that is the intention, but better attempts have been done regarding the genre), but the Miku vocaloid is a nice choice and the overall concept is cute and catchy. Difficulty is below average and it is worth re-playing just once for just showing off to people that are strangers to fangames, and then moving on.

For: For my Valentine
Color me surprised, because:

1) I am not the biggest fan of avoidances
2) I hate Katy Perry
3) I am not the biggest fan of fangames that can be beaten in less than five minutes once that you have mastered it

The game looks great, the patterns suit the song quite well, and "Unconditionally" happens to be the only Katy Perry song of her entire career that I find hearable and decent. The whole experience begins slowly and then it explodes into something epic.

If you are a fangamer and live in an ideal world where your significant other also loves fangames or is interested in them, dedicate this to her/him and she/he will fall down to your feet!

Happy Valentine's Day!
