You walk through two-and-a-half screens of boring long corridors, then you need to jump a gate. After the gate there are 2 warps, one just kills you and another warp will take you back to the 1st screen.

Note: this review is for the Magic Tower mode of this game that you unlock by beating Hard mode.
Let me start by saying it was obviously inspired by Not Another Magic Tower Game. It's one of my favorite fangames so I was sure I'll like this. But be aware that it's also pretty different.
Concept is the same. Go higher and higher in the tower, fight enemies taking as little damage as possible, collect upgrades to your atk/def/hp, and eventually defeat the final boss.
There are 4 bosses, but you can beat the game defeating only 2 of them. Here's how it works: Each of the first 3 bosses guards a chest with a Blessing. You can use them on the final floor. One Blessing lets you fight the final boss, two Blessings let you access a shop with health-restoring potions, and all three Blessings give you really big upgrades to stats making the final boss much easier.
Normal enemies are all back from Roguelike mode and are in their strongest form. Although halfway through the game, they become even stronger than they could ever be in the original game and get new names and color schemes.
My biggest problem with the game is how easy it is to softlock. There is NO freedom in how you play the game, there's a set order you must figure out. Plus, you can only have one backup at a time while NAMTG allowed you to have as many as you'd like, which means that in this game, if you backup after messing up, you have to start all over from the beginning.
Also, by the time you're almost done with the game, it just becomes too hard. Catlug, a buffed version of Catbag, is hard to beat even if you do take damage (hopefully you unlocked the shop with potions!), and you're required to beat at LEAST one of those to even fight the final boss. Also, I get that getting all 3 Blessings makes 1st and 3rd phases of the final boss too easy as you kill him too fast, but the boss guarding the 3rd blessing, Alucat, is even harder than The Cat, aka the final boss.
Overall, not a perfect mode, but well worth your time. Also, if for whatever reason you don't want to beat Hard Mode to unlock Magic Tower, there's a steam beta that has magic tower unlocked right away. Password: magictower123.
