Kurath's review pretty much sums up everything I have to say about the base game, however I will mention I also found the guest stages completely lacking. The matching stage literally starts with a save that has three corners, Eversion is pretty boring, and Jet not refilling immediately when landing just adds extra waiting time for no reason. Shift was mostly fun, but also still littered with generic stuff. Also, I'm not real privy to the amount of generic needle this has, as well as having both Betty and Rukito area screens alongside the entirety of K2 M Stage (they're a bit nerfed but still annoying to play).
Wouldn't recommend it, I don't think the concept of a Needle medley would work before playing, and now I'm just completely convinced.

Way too inspired by the kamilia series at times and the screen picks are just kind of boring mostly.
The stage rush was okay but the third stage is quite up setting.

As a beginner, this was my first real gimmick needle game I played. The pure needle was fun and challenging for me, and there were some cool gimmicks, but there were some really bad screen picks. For example, the invisible kid section and reversed control section in the Locus screen is not fun, and the stopwatch screen at the beginning of Stage 5 was a little annoying. I also hate moving platforms more than ever because of that one save in the Crimson screen. However, the last stage I liked. I played the SHIFT games growing up, so it was nostalgic seeing that gimmick in a fangame.
