I don't like to write review for games I haven't finished, but it's been something like 1 year I haven't touch the game so I feel that if I don't do it now I will forget everything. Note that I'm on the last part of the final boss so it should be enough to have a fair opinion.
Kamilia 2 is the sequel of k1, and is a sort of pillar for the medley genre since it introduced a lot of things like title cards, the boss rush and refined the format of bosses that will be used in every other medleys. While I don't particulary like medleys and don't really understand their appeal, I give kamilia series a pass as it basically invented everything for the genre and I respect that (even if k3 was the one that really imposed most things).
Now let's talk about the game. Kamilia 2 use a format the goes like one platforming screen for each chosen game, and stages goes like 10 (I think it's 10 but I might be wrong) screens then boss up to stage 5, stage 6 has the boss rush and final stage is different.
I'm gonna quickly sum up what I think about the platforming : insanely not memorable. While it was mostly decent, you will spend around 95% of your playtime against bosses which makes the platforming super forgettable as if it doesn't exists. I remember a few screens here and there, and M stage (the final stage which is original platforming) because it's at the end but to be very honest I remember probably not even a quarter of the platforming.
Now let's talk about bosses which are, as you can guess after reading what I think about the platoforming, the big core of the game.
-I don't know if boss 1 has a name (maybe volcano zone but I never saw someone calling it like this). It's a decent boss, for sure the least memorable as it's just random mess happening but I think it's not a bad introduction to what will be bosses in the game. It's a very short boss so there is not a lot to say about it, just gonna say that it's a bit weird to have an avoidance for the first boss since every other will need to be shot.
-Boss 2 is The Guy, a very good boss, maybe a bit learny for a second boss but I really liked it. The sort of mini miku avoidance weirdly interrupt the flow of the fight at the beginning but it's still in the same room so it's fine I guess. Regice and Regirock can a bit bs too and flandre attack followed by the 2 after are a bit hard to take in hand but otherwise it's a good fight. I just don't understand why the boss has health if at the end the only way to kill him is by his own bullets that deal him like a third of his life at once.
-Boss 3 is Influka, an average boss imo. There are a lot of instagibs in the main room and I wasn't a fan of all the transitions between the other rooms. You can fortunatally kill the boss before the last phase (if you clear it the boss will kill itself) but still an average boss.
-Boss 4 is Geezer, a boss that everyone seems to hate. Do I hate it? No. Do I like it? Hell no. It's a very mediocre boss and mostly borring as a huge part of the boss is og geezer without any changes, and the last part of the boss is by far the hardest one. I can understand why people hate it because I think it can be a real pain if you're stuck on it but I personally didn't as it's not a very hard boss. However the avoidance in the middle is super learny and not good at all (and also interrupt the flow of the boss as always), not very hard if you use a vid but a pain if you don't.
-Boss 5 is Solgryn divised in 2 parts with a chechpoint inbetween. The first part is one of the best boss of the game if not the best boss, it uses phase 1 and 3 of og solgryn as a base and has a very good flow with fast paced attacks well-mixed together. However part 2 is one of the worst boss of the game, it starts with phase 2 of og solgryn and even if I'm a huge fan and true lover of boshy, I have to admit that phase 2 is a bit repetitive and not interesting so having to do it at the start of every attempt quickly get tirring. And then, comes one of my worst nightmare : locus avoidance. And the worst part of it. I hate it from the bottom of my hearth, it's super learny and even with a vid, the last part of it is super hard and got me mald multiple times. And after that you have phase 4 of og solgryn, barrely changed but you can skip it by standing behind the boss at the beginning of the first attack and it will make the boss bug and stop doing anything, a bug I of course used to never have to see that boss again.
And then comes boss rush with from left to right destination, crimson, nue and gravity man. Gonna talk about them in order I beat them.
-I started with Nue because I heard many people say it's a bad boss and I wanted to keep good ones for the end, but I actually very like it. I have to admit that I used a vid and it made the last attacks much more enjoyable as I didn't had to figure how to dodge it and I could understand that not using one can make the boss more frustrating, but for me it was a cool experience.
-Then I did destination (actually, I can't remember if I did gman or desti second but I think it was desti), a good but stressing and a bit frustrating boss. I'm glad I beat it but there were definitly some attacks that can give you some bs.
-Then comes gravity man (which I'm gonna call gman), an atrocious one. It was maybe just not for me but the concept of switching gravity periodically and same with the boss was really not my cup of tea. However, even if I can understand that some people like it which fair, last phase is a certain level of nonsense that made me ragequit a lot.
-And finally comes crimson, don't gonna say a lot for him because it took me 9 min to beat it as I already beat the og one so I already had experience (and k2 one is easier the og, and same for every other boss in the boss rush). I really love crimson bosses so it was cool.
After you beat the boss rush, you unlock the true boss of stage 6 which is big kid and the chase. Big kid is super borring but easy, and the chase is much more interesting but quite hard.
Finally comes Kamilia, divided into four phases with a checkpoint between phase 1 and 2 (so I'll talk about part 1 and 2, part 1 being phase 1 and part 2 being phases 2, 3 and 4).
-part 1 is the best boss of the game or at least the second best, while the intro's falling orbs attck can be really stupid, everything else is so cool. The random order of the five attacks make them easier to learn and even if I malded a bit on some, it was honestly a very cool experience.
I however can't say the same for part 2, which is by far the worst shit in the game. Phase 2 is atrocious and made me quit the game because I really don't want to grind it, phase 3 is a pattern avoidance and feels out of place in a fight like this, and I have never reached phase 4 for now.
I will edit if I one day beat part 2 of Kamilia, but overall I'm not sure if I would recommend this game as the good and the bad don't balance that well but there were definitly some cool shit.

This game starts off incredibly strong. The music is awesome and the difficulty curve very reasonable, starting off with the first stage being easy enough for a complete beginner to do and gradually building up to experienced level. The screen picks are for the most part pretty good, there are obviously some weird ones (tribute and shining spark come to mind) and many are more needle-centric, but they overall provide enough variety to stay interesting. I really enjoy the early bosses in this game, sticky keys is a very short and easy avoidance while The Guy and Influka are more challenging but are straightforward enough that they can be beaten with enough practice and also reward players who are able to do damage quickly (this is something the remake imo failed with Influka). Geezer is where this games problems start becoming apparent. The boss is mostly long and easy until an avoidance section near the end which is 10x harder than the rest of the fight. It's not completely unreasonable once you know what to do, but going through the whole fight each time to reach it is a chore, not to mention the choke potential on the final section. Stage 5 is also where some rather nasty needle starts rearing its head and may leave you stuck for quite a while if you're like me and not a needle god. Solgryn is honestly OK, especially thanks to the checkpoint but I suck at avoidances and thus I got stuck on the Locus avoidance for a long while. Thankfully you get to it a lot sooner than on Geezer. Stage 6 is tough but mostly fair although there are 2 screens which require 2f jumps which my keyboard cannot do consistently. As you can imagine this caused some strife, but if you can 2f just fine then this stage is probably OK. Boss rush was honestly pretty cool. Destination and Crimson are simple but difficult fights that test your endurance, I'm not a fan of the kid not moving with the blocks but the fight is otherwise pretty cool. Nue is pretty alright with most of the RNG being at the start and the rest simply boiling down to finding the strats. Similarly, Gravity Man requires strats to even be playable, otherwise you'll be eating the dirt pretty often. On top of that he ends with an RNG phase, easily the most rage inducing of the four. Call me crazy, but I actually liked the Big Kid fight here. Like the Carnival bosses, Big Kid is simple yet difficult and gives the player a lot of control over how hectic the fight becomes. The CHASE phase after the fight however, is easily one of the worst parts of the game. The needle in it is not particularly hard, but its intense length, plus the mean traps throughout make it absolutely infuriating. After that is the M stage containing moderately difficult needle with traps. As someone who likes traps and isn't big on needle I liked this stage, it doesn't do anything crazy but maybe that's part of the charm. Finally there's Kamilia herself. I actually enjoyed the first phase of her fight. Learning each attack and getting more consistent at them until I could do all five felt great, enough that I didn't care that the opening attack kinda sucks and has RNG that can occasionally wall you. I didn't enjoy the second phase as much. Big Kid's revenge fruit are back, back this time Kamilia's constant RNG attacks give many unfortunate situations where death is very likely. Getting through that part is not enough as you then have to do a short pattern avoidance which is just learning, followed by a carpal-tunnel inducing final phase (with no checkpoint btw). The difficulty of the attacks you can get here range from easy baby mode to oh god why levels, making it feel very inconsistent (it doesn't help that you can get the same attack twice in a row). There are many things I disliked about the last parts of the game, yet I still can't bring myself to hate it.
I Wanna Kill The Kamilia 2 is both a very iconic and important game to the community. Many people are more than willing to point at this game's faults (which is warranted, don't get me wrong) yet anyone who streams it will inevitably rack in viewers. I think this is because despite the flaws of this game, the positive parts are so strong they simply cannot be ignored. This is a game that is at least worth playing, and if you feel like giving up at the parts that are BS, then I don't blame you.

I rewrite my old review
This game for sure has strong side - good variety of screens, being fairly tolerable to new players, okayish difficulty curve for the most part (with some screens like PYF, Yassan and Time-Machine being huge standouts), interesing ideas about production design (like putting different music for each screen in stage 6), some bosses are really nice and feels great to play (i really like overall Boss Rush and Big Kid for example, pretty nicely nerfed versions of bosses), i also personally really like Big Kid Chase original area, was driving and cool
But this game also has many downsides. Keep in mind it's medley, so it can always bring some better picks of screens, but uh no. For example it twice takes screens that are using 1px ledge standing (White Cherry and Seven Trials). It was never a great design and it happens so rarely in fangames, that you really don't wanna see this in the game that is so popular and common among beginners. Same goes for screens with trial-or-error ending (Blood Festival and PYF). Some bosses are quite strange in design - Influka uses only first half of the created fight; Geezer has obnoxious and easy first half, while being really hard at the second half; Final Boss stands out tho separately in terms of bullshit - in both phases you can crushed by RNG without chance, also second phase uses some really strange pattern intermission that lasts 90+ second and serves no purpose, and the first part of second phase has too many HP which leads to bruteforcing opening (which also leads that you be resetting and dies immediately in many cases, because boss works that way)
Overall, i can't really applause to many of things in the game, but i still liked it in general. If you can close eyes to some bullshit that ocassionaly happens in this game, it's quite alright experience. Not polished, not really friendly (this game filled with a lot of traps and not like good traps), but still alright
