Needle Hatena is a well produced needle collab with a variety of makers in terms of both experience and styles. You can tackle the stages in any order you wish, keep your progress if you leave a stage and to my understanding don't even need to beat all the stages to reach the ending/clear, so if there's one that doesn't sit well with you then you can just shuffle onto that sweet credits stage.
I found some real highlights in here. Princeoflight's stage has some really usage of catharsis water and outline platforming. I do wonder if it might've looked more pleasing had the catharsis water not been blocks, but maybe more defined shapes to fit the really clean aesthetic that was going on, but it remains a favourite regardless. Egg's stage also has a really nice atmosphere and well flowing platforming between a few screens, which was very reminiscent of Kermit platforming for me.
Some stages didn't really feel quite as inspired. Starz0r's stage in particular felt full of mostly very generic jumps and limited to corridor platforming, in a Mario tileset which actually felt weirdly fitting for once (usually Mario tilesets and needle don't go well together for me, but this was an exception). With needle collabs, the stages that do different things and put effort into standing out with a gimmick or a unique style will always be the ones I end up remembering (for better or for worse). Chrisay's stage is one I was undecided on how much I enjoyed it due to the learny and not necessarily obvious nature of progressing through it, although I respected the design and effort put into it.
The game also gives you a few extra stages/screens after passing the credits. Not every maker has an extra, although there's some fun stuff in the ones you're given. Prince's extra again was probably my favourite of the bunch, utilising some cool manoeuvres in a memorable style. If there's one negative I encountered in the extra, it's that the easter egg in Kittygame's extra is obnoxious. Loud volume "funnies" will never be amusing to me, and easter eggs can be cute or amusing without needing to cram it down your eardrums to fool you into thinking that because something is unpleasantly loud, it's then funny.
The main takeaway though is that it's a very nicely produced needle collab (you even unlock hats!) with a variety of stages. Some stages feel lacking in creativity or individuality, but nothing felt like it was detracting from the overall game and the difficulty never got in the way of the design. I'd look forward to a Hatena 2 if it's ever a consideration!

I enjoyed this game quite a bit, despite the fact that I absolutely wasn't expecting to.
Needle Hatena is a more standard needle collab, which isn't a bad thing, as each stage feels distinct, but as a result each stage, with the exception of Princeoflight and Chrisay, feels very safe. Imo, collabs are a good time to expiriment or try out new things, and a lot of these stages don't do that. I won't hold that against the game though. This is just my personal belief. Overall, a pretty satisfying collab, and while not much is particularly memorable, its very chill and comfy.
I'll leave individual area reviews here.
Princeoflight: Seriously really cool. I love how it looks, and it plays quite well too. I've never seen line needle quite like this and I enjoyed it more than most other forms of line needle.
Shign: I was extremely surprised by just how much I enjoyed this stage. I wasn't expecting much out of this based on what else I played from shign but it actually turned out to be extremely fun in terms of vines/platforms/water.
Egg: Very distinct visually and has a nice atmosphere. I wish the saves were larger but that's my only nitpick of the stage. Egg continues to be one of my favorite needle makers.
Lemon stage: Very cramped cave needle that is surprisingly fun. Feels like something I would try to make except much better.
JPEG: Don't take this the wrong way. I want the maker of this stage to really get better because this stage was bad. Very generic, kinda samey, almost annoying at some points. The visuals were bare bones too. If the creator wants to reach out to me to talk about how to improve their needle I'd happily talk with them. I know it was one of their first cracks at making needle and it shows.
Kittygame: Standard needle with decent visuals. The easiest stage, but I honestly found it very forgettable. Kittygame has massively improved though and that makes me happy.
Chrisay: The hardest and learniest stage in the game. You'll either love or hate this stage. I'm in the camp that enjoys it. The needle is very cycle-based and it can sometimes get pretty frustrating trying to learn them, especially on screen 2. I think Chrisay did a good job with it still though, and I'm looking forward to Doopliss vs. the world even more now.
Artimax: Another maker which makes me happy to see how far they've come since they started making games. Artimax has a distinct needle style which is uniquely his, aqnd despite being one screen, Artimax manages to get a ton of use out of it with pretty good pathing. The jumps themselves are pretty standard water/vine needle but that's fine. Hope Artmiax continues to improve his craft because I see a ton of potential in him.
Starz0r: Spanish needle. Not game ruining because of its easier difficulty but one of the more boring stages.
Credits: I like that there is a credits stage that is relatively easier needle, as well as the use of slopes.
Extra Stages:
Princeoflight: 3rd favorite stage in the game. Exactly like his previous stage but introduces gravity flippers, along with catharsis water movements which are extremely satisfying to pull off.
Kittygame: Weird spike sprites and an extremely unfunny troll/loud noise. Annoying area because of these but it isn't too hard so I don't mind.
Egg: Most fun stage in the game. Extremely fun trigger needle. My only complaint is that there isn't more of it.
Starz0r: Same as his regular stage yet easier.
Overall, I'm excited to see where these creators go and this game showed a new side in a lot of them for me. It doesn't do anything really special or expirimental but that's fine.

Chrisay's stage is pretty unplayable. I enjoyed what I played of the rest of the game, but I don't really feel like dealing with this. Would be nice if you could just play every stage without having to unlock them.
