For: I wanna be the Destination
For: I wanna be the Destination
Destination is a very famous adventure game, and as such I went in with a lot of mixed expectations. I had heard many people both praise and hate this game, both with frequency. I did end up enjoying the game a fair bit, certainly if you've played other Carnival games like Crimson or Justice, you know what to expect. However, I do think this game winds up being rougher around the edges than Crimson. Despite said roughness, I did have fun with it.
The first part of the game is a fun little hub with three paths, leading into different stages where you are required to collect the obvious secrets. These stages are probably the consistently best part of the game, they have fun, interesting platforming, and they have cool bosses that are fun to play, despite their relative simplicity (something I think Carnival excels at in general).
After this, you encounter the first avoidance. It's alright, though it's a little boring and doesn't do anything particularly interesting. This is followed by a sequence of stages that are pretty fun, although a bit unmemorable. There is however the big maze section, which is a pretty cool addition that sticks out in my memory.
After this, there's the devil kid boss, which I found to be one of the most fun bosses in the game. It has fun balancing of risk reward, and the number of possible attack combos will keep you on your toes. This boss is followed by the crimson stage(s). While I found these fun, they're certainly not for everyone as the wind up being pretty generic needle by modern standards.
Next, you reach avoidance two. Oh boy. This was my least favorite part of the game by far. There is an attack that is repeated several times that involves an aimed line mixed with rng, that winds up being total bullshit. Overall, this fight's rng winds up screwing you way too often, frequently feeling unfair. In addition, the fight ends with a really hard to learn pattern, which was really frustrating coming after all the rng.
The final stage is really cool, it's got a ton of variety, featuring some fun gimmicks and really unique platforming. I liked the inclusion of flames, lasers, darkness, etc. It culminates with the infamous final boss.
The final boss is certainly a major step up from the rest of the game in terms of difficulty. It's a several minute long grueling focus test. Despite that, I had quite a bit of fun with it even though it took me a very long time. As I said earlier, Carnival does simple well with bosses. Each attack has a very simple premise, but they all have a lot of depth and emergent strategy as you familiarize yourself with them. Certainly, there's a good deal of bullshit rng, particularly in blue 2, but there's usually at least something you can do about it, even if it is an insane dodge.
Overall, I found Destination to be an enjoyable game, and I can certainly see how it became so well known. It's quite brutal in terms of difficulty, but I would definitely recommend it to highly skilled adventure players, or to moderately skilled players (like myself) who are prepared to be in it for the long haul.

For: Dual Needle
Based on 100 % clear. This game is pretty interesting. It strictly divided by few sections i'd say and that's how i will describe it in my review
First section is any% and secrets here. Good needle honestly. Visuals are charming and artistic, flow of saves is good and especially i wanna say shoutouts to final save of any% - it's really FUN to play. Like holy shit, i fucking enjoyed it a lot - gimmick was nicely executed and it's just very catchy thing, really would like to see more stuff like this
Secrets are not bad, first secret is pretty easy, second secret is precision room that has some rough saves, especially one of the saves in middle was insanely fucking hard for me. But if you aim for extra, you definitely need those secrets. Why? Answer is on surface - secrets gives you very powerful lifelines - ability to skip saves (5 uses and also if you use it, don't try to reset without saving - you will lost used one forever and yeah i know it, because i did it of course) and place saves whenever you want (also 5 uses). Honestly, like geniunely, big applause to maker for adding those. This stuff carried me out through extra hardly, and in general i wouldn't mind to see lifelines like this in needle more. So yeah, very useful reward
Entering the extra tho. Extra starts with quite short red colored stage. It has some meh saves in general and final save is like actually completely cracked one-save screen. That screen is the first place in the game where i used save lifeline and i definitely didn't regret about that decision - that save is nasty and unfun, and for my look it seems like hardest save in the game overall
After initial stage, there will be hub with two warps. Left warp leads to well-known trials stage. As much as this stage heavily relies on short and precise saves, i very liked it and it was overall highlight of the extra for me. From good chill atmosphere with cosmic vibe to actually interestingly designed saves, that are not something you usually witness - many saves requires quite gBrain maneuvers. I skipped some saves here, that were basically about some low cancels and so on, they are definitely not my jam, but hey, obviously on 45 good saves there will be 5 shitty ones, that's just reality of life. Fun times overall
Right warp leads to stage that is also based on short saves, not exactly that precise as trials one, but still quite tricky and hard, and also stage itself is pretty long. Many people talk about stage as annoying one, but for me it was alright. One of the saves tho was brutal and way harder than rest, so i wisely used another lifeline here; and also one of the saves requires very strange shenanigan that i can't perform, where you need to jump very low on vine and save your djump with that - so another lifeline here as well. Over than that - solid and good
And then comes the final extra stage. On positive side - this stage has awesome OST and pleasant Decession-like visual style. Design of the needle is also interesting - it's a big room filled with mostly non-generic jumps, many of them are very fun to execute and save balancing for the most part is good. But... now for the negative. Obviously, things can be that good, yeah? So pre-last save of this stage is candidate for one of the worst saves i've ever played. It's hard to even describe this asshole, but just imagine filler jumps followed by insanely hard and inconsistent drop followed by 2f check in dangerous position that tranforms into another hard drop and then choke jump obviously. Yeah, that was bad. Tried this for hours and then realised it's enough for me and i just wanna end suffering. Last lifelines were used here and on last save, which was also far from good, let me tell you. So what can be good and driving stage ends up in complete shambles unfortunately. Oh yeah, also save 1 was kinda dicks, but not that bad as the last two for sure
With that, the game ends. Considering most of the playtime was basically precision needle, i'm actually suprised how many i enjoy from here. Worst saves are the worst, but lifelines save this game from nightmare and i'm glad they exist. My final rating includes only experience from the saves that i complete without using them. Believe me, skipless ratings would be way fucking lower for enjoyment part and way higher (like ~87 maybe) for difficulty part. At the end of the day, i definitely can recommend this game at least for any% and if you catch up secrets on your way, you can also try extra, why not. Just think twice before landing lifeline, they are valuable resource here

Neat game that exploiting well-known Butterfly Nova style in various ways from five different makers. Basically five hard precision stages is the content here. I'm not like precision guy in general, but this game still was pretty fun, even tho it has some misses for me here and there
-Dudos stage was by far the easiest and pretty fun overall, can't complain
-Ashotovka stage was kinda hard, but very balanced and very interesting and enjoyable, easily the most consistently good needle here. Can recommend to play at least this one, even if you don't really interested in clearing game
-Maxim stage is claimed as hardest by the game, but i can't agree. It's pretty difficult for sure, but not as hard as upcoming two stages. In terms of enjoyment, it was bearable for the most part, not like wow-wow, but fine, even tho third screen has some cringe moments like platform low rejump especially. Decent overall
-Zorgo stage is very brutal and honestly not really fun. It has some really nasty shit, especially on third screen, that is absolutely not fun to execute and also quite hand-killing sometimes. Worst stage imo
-P2 stage is solid, actually holds up pretty well, saves are balanced and fun, but exactly one save changing whole perspective of the stage completely. So final save of third screen requires insanely precise set of movements and while being quite fun once you get the flow, it was still very painful overall honestly. Hardest save in the game for me, by quite a lot. But even with that, i will easily call this second best stage i think
All in all, interesting experience. Definitely recommendation for precision enjoyers

Guys, this game has an end, believe me, i beat it. This actually sounds like a nonsense, but yeah i was in shock and tears too. Believe...
Seriously tho, i hardly can imagine someone can actually enjoy this game. Stick to the hard Sunlaoqq platforming will be my final words. Most of my rating comes from respect to maker for not missing any skips here, lol
Also if this game has no save blackouting system, then it will be literally 90 difficulty, which is funny to think about it
