Ash is a fantastic adventure game that I could easily recommend to just about any adventure fan. It's full of variety in both platforming and boss fights, brought together with some very clean production value.

The platforming features a fair share of traps although these are often done humorously and not just bland flying-spikes, as well as some very high value elaborate ruses along the way. Just in general I found the game to be rather funny, with some very good references here and there and some nonsensical hijinks that I always appreciate in fangames. The platforming itself I found to be well designed and balanced with only one save throwing me off, although it turned out I was making it harder than it needed to be.

The boss fights are quite varied too, ranging from Gradius-esque epic showdowns to defending yourself against the intense squatting exercises of two muscle-bound men. I particularly enjoyed the boss of the multi-kid stage which felt very fun to execute and very well produced in a way I don't really see in fangames. One boss did have a slight issue where I felt shooting early was refreshing i-frames, something I'm not really a fan of. Regardless, it was a minor issue as soon as I noticed. The only real issue I have going away from the game is that a couple of the bosses felt a bit too tanky, and could've done with a HP reduction.

The game also features some collectable gems (secrets?) which don't seem mandatory but they're also pretty hard to miss, often being visible on the screen you're on with a clear indication of how to get there, so picking them up along the way isn't really a big deal.

Overall it was just a great fangame. It has a few flaws and gripes but for what it is, I had a really fun time from start to finish. I'd easily recommend this to anyone. Also if you're capable of beating the infamous Kirby minigame, I will draw you one paint drawing of your choosing.

A pretty lengthy, variety packed adventure game.

The stages in this game are pretty great, tossing in a decent amount of variety while randomly mixing it up with mid-way bosses and new gimmicks. Its also got a good level of traps where they're not overbearing but also not rare enough that you forget that they might be coming, adding that little bit of flair.

Production wise, its up to par - hardly standing out necessarily in any way but everything looks clean and while gameover music is annoying, atleast its not restarting.

The main takeaway is that the game is fun and not too hard. It doesn't ramp up much in general over the course of the game and it keeps you on your toes with lots of different gimmicks and bosses. The downsides are probably difficulty balance - saves are all over the place difficulty wise and while it never gets too hard, it might be a bit rough for a newer player to consider because it will be bumpy. For an experienced fangamer looking for something in the easy-moderate range though, it flows well enough. The other main drawback is some of the boss design - balance wise, there are bosses that select from several attacks and half of them might be totally free, or certain bosses/attacks where your ability to damage them is down to RNG. Another factor is in most bosses, many of the attacks go on way too long or the boss has way too much hp - expect to see a LOT of each attack even in a single attempt. This is another reason to be wary as a newer player as it'd probably be unpleasant to get stuck on - but again for an experienced player you'll likely get through before its tiring.

Overall, if you're looking for a very charming, reasonably bulky adventure of the classic eastern style this is worth checking out. There's fun traps, interesting gimmicks, interesting bosses, jokes and weird quirks abound.

This is a hidden gem in many respects. A full-length adventure game with high production value, various gimmicks, and boss fights over many stages. While some one or two of the bosses in the later parts of the game can be outright unfair at times, this is still a pretty beefy adventure game that you can sink a few hours into.

Adventure game with a lot of stages, most are pretty short but they all have bosses, which unfortunately were the weakest part of the game for me. While the platforming is fun I couldn't really get behind any of the bosses besides the last one. This overall hampered the experience and made me not like this game as much as other people did, but it's still pretty good. It's pretty standard adventure stuff with an emphasis on humor, and the double kid stage is very creative. Check it out for sure.

The personality this game exudes is just wonderful! It was really refreshing when I had played it. I love games like these! It has a fantastic sense of humour and most saves have something new to enjoy, and the videogame references are very fun. One of my favourite eastern adventures for sure.
