The needle is about 15 diff.
An extremely simple needle game followed by an avoidance which is only difficult in comparison. There are three stages of needle, and frankly it's super generic and unmemorable. The highlight is stage two, which uses spike are to make cute fish. The visual effects are cool, I like the bubble gun, although I wish the tiles, spikes, and backgrounds were souped up a bit to match.
The avoidance is a step up in difficulty, but only cause the needle is utterly trivial. It's pretty fun, I like the song. The attacks are pretty simple, but fitting for a beginner. The short length of the fight means it should still be pretty easy for most beginners.

Jingle Jam is a wonderful Christmas collab, well deserving of its reputation. The sheer creativity and variety on display here is a great endorsement of this community, as is the fact that the game is pretty consistently high quality.
There's something here for everyone, with needle, avoidance, and trap stages, but I would say the majority of the game is adventure. There's lots of unique gimmicks and really fun bosses. The game's relatively low difficulty also means that this is a gift accessible to everyone.
I'm not going to spend time talking about any individual stages, because I think the game really shines when taken as a whole, and every stage will be worth playing to someone. There are a couple I thought were stinkers, but overall almost every moment of this game was great.
I would absolutely recommend this game to every adventure player, it's chock full of charm and lots of unique stuff. Even on a replay a few years after my first clear, I still found that the game was drawing me in, making me play more than I planned on each session.

This is an exemplar of mediocre adventure game. The platforming is all extremely forgettable, with obnoxious end of save traps, no interesting gimmicks, and enemies/bombs that are just there to make you wait before progressing. The bosses are just as boring, with uninteresting attacks.
Overall, this game is way too long for its own good. It just drags on, with none of the stages being different enough for me to care. The game is just pretty boring the whole way through. I wouldn't recommend this one, there are much better beginner options out there.
