I've cleared this a few months ago and wanted to write an review of this but never did, so here I go.
The visuals are great, I'd give it that. It almost like some sort of drug trip, kinda the point since the story is about The Kid that goes to a fever dream or something like that. That's pretty much the only positives I have about this game.
I found the platforming to be very weird at times and sometimes I got through screens and thought to myself that this isn't the intended route. The needle either switches to huge emptiness with little to no spikes or cramped rooms with mini blocks added to make it look more appealing. The bosses were okay to a degree, except the huge red spike and the rabbit which were just not fun. They nearly all use some variant of an attack where a bunch of bullets close to eachother which are aimed at you along with other attacks that move real slow or real fast. The final boss wants really you to be cautious which isn't a bad thing, but combined with the non-boss attack random objects that it throws at you and the giant red laser made it more of a chore than anything else. The gimmicks that appear in this game are really cool but sometimes made in a way that only shows up for like one or two screens or uninteresting ways.
I know people might bash me on this, but for me Genki is nothing but the word overrated. The platforming is weird, the bosses are subpar and the gimmicks feel misused and it all came down to a game that left me with a sour taste in my mouth.

Pretty neato needle. It's pretty generic but it ended up being pretty fun. The first four stages have pretty short saves. They also have secrets which are cool, but secret 4 can be pretty stupid. Then there are 3 little guest areas which were cool. The first one only has 2 screens meanwhile Lemon and Sandsky had 3 which is a little strange. Sandsky area also feels odd as last area, I thought the ??? mark area was like a super hard final challenge but nope.
Whether or not this is worth your time is up to you, but in my opinion, this game is really fun.

Difficult, but very rewarding needle game with consistently satisfying design. Almost every save is inventive or clever in some way and I had a lot of fun with everything the game threw at me. Easily the best of Lucien's standalone games.
While I think this entry in the Awful Needle series is a fairly large step up in difficulty from the rest and best appreciated by veteran players, it's not a terribly long game, so players looking to push themselves into a higher "needle bracket" might enjoy it too.

Other reviews have already mentioned its humanly impossible, so instead here is something funny about the game:
Literally everything is the game is from the default engine, or GameMaker 8's "Making for first game" tutorial. The Fruit, the Background, hell even the Music and Explosion Sound Effect. The only sprites not from either of those are the dots and the solid color Blocks. Thats it.

This was obviously made by someone from the western community, I don't know who but it's very easy to tell this is trying to imitate the style of an old crappy eastern fangame but it's painfully obvious that it isn't.
The game features some funny quirks like the bullets being spikes but only one direction and the jump sounds being switched with each other among some other things, but it also has a lot of not very funny stuff like the overuse of screen spinning and some eye straining graphics, though I will admit the bosses are pretty epic. If the game didn't come with god mode then I would've dropped it very early.
Overall I can definitely see the potential in this person as a maker, but I feel he should really go back and play more old eastern bad fangames and truely try to imitate what they do but give it some new school flare to make it stand out.
