Dude, you don't put a plane at the end of a save.
Anyway, I hope you have learned really well from your align lessons! This is the straight-needle fangame to put them to practice. I can see why this is a cherished classic, very divisive among players, I can see, but one I would regret passing on. Better than Be the Mercury in terms of visuals, lighting and level design, this is quite a ride. There is only one theme, and I feel this fits well for the game. The game throughout employs several buffed jumps, and in the word "buffs", you should understand corners of all types (except sphincters) and upward planes. This alone ramps up the difficulty quite a bit, and they are, well, everywhere. It's like a cheap way to make the game more difficult instead of creating intricate screens or creative jumps. It's like if the creator was heavily inspired by Sunspike (it shows a lot throughout his games) and took the worst aspects. Also, the kid should be a blue outline, I insist.
Still, the atmosphere is quite cool and length is really decent. Last jump is so infamous you'll have a laugh, but those familiar with that kind of cancer jump should be fine with the fact that there is a save just before it.
Yeah... Recommended, but don't expect replay value.

WARNING: If you're going through the Solar System series, THIS is the game you're looking for: 'Be' the Mercury, NOT 'be' the Mercury. Get it?
Be: Yes
be: Nope
Otherwise, you will have to face an atrocious and not funny joke.
Anyway, the huge problem with me is the visuals. They are... horrendous. You basically grab the original brown I Wanna Be The Guy ground tile and paint it with different colors. It is also pervasively dark, so the neon-ish effect that was intended cannot be appreciated at all. There is also a mobile background, in case you couldn't see it, and maybe you didn't precisely because of lighting problems.
About the gameplay, the length is nice, but level design is very basic and straightforward and buffs sections towards almost every save with generic stuff like diamonds, corners, TAS jumps or two diagonals in succession, which are very uneventful and frustrating. Music will fool you into thinking this will be a Uhuhu-like experience, but nope, it's just a remix of several vocaloids several of us avoidance freaks will recognize. Music does not suit the experience at all.
Also, I wouldn't have minded the outline design for the kid. Again, visuals harm enjoyment a great deal.
Look for other games in the series. They are more worth it.

A very long, quite difficult, story-based adventure which was azure's finale (atleast to date). Overall there's a ton of great areas, interesting gimmicks and bosses in this game unfortunately a bit difficulty for a western player to interpret. (See Wolfie's review for some translation/help regarding that).
Production wise, this is very solid. Keeps within the traditional fangame aesthetic while having pretty polished art (my understanding is a fair bit of the art is custom done for the game too, which is nice) and good music, making it easily accessible to those who prefer the stripped down, simpler fangame look or those who prefer the more modern game style.
Gameplay wise, its a bit of a mixed bag but for the most part keeps it interesting and varied enough to be fun. There's a few more questionably designed areas, but they are all optional (to some degree, some are in secrets required for the final ending though its not the biggest deal). Additionally there's some pretty janky/stupid areas in the minigame/contest segments in the city and its difficult to know what you're getting into when you pick one of the PCs for this, though they are escapeable and you needn't do them all.
The bosses are all pretty neat and for the most part not too hard. Zangief can definitely give people some problems though my extensive experience with that ol chap made it not an issue. While I'd say you can get some pretty zany RNG on them, most bosses are shorter, quicker fights so you don't end up losing much time - if you're a fan of those style of fights this'll be great for you. The final boss goes a bit against that, so be aware that its quite the drawn out, more learny endeavor.
Overall, I very much enjoyed this game. It'd be better with a complete translation, for sure, but it's easy to appreciate the work that went into it and the story is in a nice point where even if you don't understand it, the cutscenes give a vague idea of what's happening and its not fundamental enough to the game that you can't enjoy concocting your own story to fill in the gaps. If you're more experienced with fangames and looking for a tougher adventure, this is absolutely worth playing.
Also it's spiritual sequel will be the best fangame ever so you might as well play this to be ready.

There are no difficulty settings, so prepare yourself for being consistent throughout all of the screens as there is only one save per screen. This is actually good practice for those venturing into harder needle such as that of sunlaoqq, where you will face the same challenge degree. Color scheme, music, tilesets and animations are pretty. Game feels repetitive throughout and the difficulty curve is non-existing: it is a flat, horizontal line with some valleys in between that let you breathe for some seconds.
Despite my grudges against the game, if you're feeling bold for single-save screens and can get past generic jumps, go for it, since the level design is quite clever. It isn't maze-like as it is straightforward most of the times. It is atmospheric, which I appreciated though, as you do feel like in another planet.

Unforgivingly uneventful, generic and visually unpleasant, short experience. Skip at all costs.

Dun Wanna be Anything is a monster of an adventure game. It's staggering in both length and difficulty, and often not necessarily in conventional ways, using a huge variety of hazards to drain your soul and test your willpower. Also you're given a pretty good choice at the start of the game with choosing your difficulty (Normal or Hard) and amount of saves (Few, Normal, Many). I played on Hard with Many Saves, and I'd probably strongly recommend against Hard mode as it overbuffs a few bosses to unfair levels, whereas I assume Normal is a much smoother experience.
The game opens up with a few options of your starting stage, each varying pretty wildly in visual theme and the hazards to expect. This made going through them all very fun and often surprising. Bosses are also very abundant across the game which is a testament to the effort put in to create such a wide selection of different boss fights, most of which play very differently. Most bosses are learn-heavy and you'd probably do well not to expect to first try any unless you fluke a bunch of attacks or get some god RNG with attack selection.
The platforming in the game is primarily based around traps and cycle-based hazards, manoeuvring through enemies or trying to not get mindread every other save. I can probably count on one hand the amount of gates and/or diagonals there were in this game, which makes for a very fresh experience gameplay wise. You definitely can't call Zanto lazy. The traps are also varied in the sense that they're not all just flying-spike-gotcha moments (although there are a fair share of those), and actually tend to have some humour worked into them.
Alongside all of this variety and creativity though is a lot of soul-crushing heart-breaking segments. Zanto's review summarises it pretty well, but unless you have the patience of a saint then chances are you're going to get upset a fair few times over the course of your journey. Some examples include bosses hanging out of shootable distance for what can feel like an eternity, or very punishing platforming cycles with some scamp-tier traps lying in wait near the end. The traps were amusing in a lot of cases, but at times it did end up getting me pretty frustrated and drained which is a pretty rare thing to accomplish, hence why I would push people away from playing on Hard to alleviate more frustration than is needed.
I had a pretty fun time with this game despite some real rough moments. If there's one thing I can be sure of, it's that I won't forget this game anytime soon. It's a real experience and very impressive piece of work. It's very different in style and flow to its sequel DWBA2, but still very much worth playing if you can get past the heartbreak.
