A Rukito inspired collaborative needle-venture game. A lot of effort went into this game, so we hope you like it.

Decent needleventure game making tribute to Rukito's highly praised style. Personally, I'm not exactly huge on Rukito's games so I wasn't expecting to enjoy this too much, even with a lot of great needle games that have come out in recent years being heavily inspired by his works, such as PS and FE, but this wasn't anything like that. This game feels like it focus more on some factors commonly overlooked by makers who try to pay him hommage, which unfortunately for me they're some of the many turnoffs I have with his games, specially the older ones. Certain segments feel very redundant and repetitive, often with rather weird save balance/placement, unfitting music and visuals that, while clearly outside of the main focus of a Rukito-esque game, could've been improved in some ways, not only for the sake of contrast but also to make the stage stand out and become more memorable than just various recolors of the same tileset. As for the bosses, there aren't many in the game but the final one was enjoyable, I wish there were more things in the game like it.
The effort put in is still clear however and I'm sure many fans of Rukito's games would most likely enjoy this much more than I have, but I must say I expected a little more from a collab like this, and I hope to see these same makers make more games and improve on their respective styles, their previous works have shown as much potential as BHG but, likewise, still felt rough and unpolished.

Rating based on true end on 'easier' difficulty. Other difficulty levels appear to be save quantity as usual. A mostly needle game with a bit of an old school feel. Kind of like you throw things around and see what sticks - and in this case for the most part its fun enough. There's not much objectionable, but at the same time it doesn't really stand out either.
Production wise, its a bit mixed. Lots of default or barely changed tiles, simple static backgrounds and standard spikes throughout, though it does pick up a bit at the end (though the flashing spikes were a bit irritating for me). Soundwise, nothing really exciting to note.
Platforming wise, its mostly fun. Quite varied throughout stages that seemed to be somewhat random in length and scope, the only thing I found that bothered me were the 16pxs that were quite abundant. However, it didn't do too much to stand out, rarely diverging from engine gimmicks (and despite the Rukito inspired description, featured very few triggers).
There's a spattering of bosses, though I'd say only one of them was good. The first boss felt like a mess where everythings hard to see but almost nothing will hit you anyway. The second boss felt well enough thought out and was interesting.
Overall, its decent. It's fun enough if you want something simple and relatively easy to play but it doesn't really do a good job setting itself apart from tons of other games. For what seems to be a first entry from some of the makers, its definitely a solid showing and it seemed to be mostly improving over the course of it, so definitely potential to watch out for next time.

a fangame that feels like it came from some kind of bizarre childhood dream
weirdly surreal and comforting at the same time
I feel like this game perfectly encapsulates the energy and atmosphere of dono's old underappreciated games. the platforming ranges from genuinely cool to kinda annoying and generic but the overall experience is what makes BHG memorable.

I permit myself to rate it since the game is by dono and KittyGame, Ian and me were testers who made a guest stage. Rating doesn't include my stage.
Nice needl/venture game with mostly simplistic visuals. A bit disappointed by the final boss because you can kill him in like 10s but otherwise, I found it enjoyable despite some minors flaws (like it has too much 16px gap for me).
