For: I want chocolate
Warning: Wild SARCASM appeared!

Ladies and gentlemen! Here comes the most wonderful game in the world: I want chocolate.

This is short game, but you can see good example of highly cultural game. You do not need to listen to the overrated vocaloid songs, which degrade young generation. We can listen and notice expressions of realism in the music! Harmonic sounds of nature and human speech unites us, and shows how much we are connected to the nature. With harmonic sounds I mean sounds of.. flowing water. Yes. Do not be confused by naked Eastern human male's body. I believe it is flowing water, isn't it? Also we do not know is he fully naked or no, because there is censorship with red fruits (I feel bad for them). Simplistic designs fit so much with simplistic attacks. It may seem specific, that when there are sounds of water, there are loads of brownish fruits, but I guess it is visual effect. It seems also pretty easy, however in the same time author is reprehensible for unfair RNG bursts, which are quite many. Sadly, author made this game private (interesting, why?), but I believe someone made critic to him, because of not understanding the deep meaning of this game. This author really makes masterpieces, and I am glad that he is still making games! Oh, what did you say? Why it is called: I want chocolate? It is easy to explain. I have made some research on internet, and found even article which is even called: "Chocolate: A symbol of love and commitment" (link to the article is available here:https://www.slideshare.net/bikanervala/chocolate-a-symbol-of-love-and-commitment), and I think author tried to deliver this message to the player!

Sadly, I believe not everyone will be able to understand this game's deep meaning, which is the reason why I wouldn't recommend this game to everyone, however if you are ready or seek to find complicated hidden meaning, then you should definitely try this game.

P.S. "Definitely".

For: I wanna be the GOBOU
"It's a tough one to review, since no one really knows what happened or why." - Kurath, 2019.

Gobou is a unique experience, to say the least. It goes against what you might expect a typical fangame adventure to look and play like, and bombards it with some heavy plot twists, a charming cast of characters and a series of devilish and unimaginable challenges, even more vicious than the last.

If you want a fangame with combat, you'll find it here. If you want a story that defies language barriers and even mortal understanding, you'll also find that here. Most of all, if you want a memorable fangame experience, I can say with absolute certainty, that you will find it here, with GOBOU.

For: I wanna take the Memory 2
Take the Memory 2 is a wacky anime-themed adventure featuring visual novel shenanigans, dazzling games of chance and a story that you won't soon forget. You're even given the incredible option of either a) knowing Japanese and reading the story to fully understand it, or b) not knowing Japanese and making up your own story as you go along to try and make sense of why you're being assaulted by a variety of anime girls in spike-infested rooms.

The game's flow is pretty strange, featuring a bit of backtracking here and there as you explore new areas before returning to the town in order to advance the plot. Similar to Marimario's other games, the stages usually consist of a particular gimmick alongside a healthy dose of traps. There's also a good variety of bosses, often utilizing the stage gimmick in some form. I particularly liked the Not Visible stage which hides either the player, spikes or blocks depending on the trigger, although it does make me worry for the difficulty if you aren't playing on Medium.

The game does have a True Ending which includes a few more stages and bosses, and it's relatively straightforward to get. After beating the game normally, you can start again from the beginning following the choice given after credits, and just pick the option that was previously greyed out in the conversation with Marimario (the scientist-looking guy), which will take you onto the True Route.

The production value isn't really anything to write home about (with the exception of the openings perhaps) and the platforming can be a bit clunky at times, but there's something about the game that just felt very memorable and fun to me. It's a lot of kooky ideas and zany happenings that make fangames fun to play for me, and overall I just had a lot of fun with it.

For: I wanna Sell Door
Sell Door is a 3-stage long puzzle game with some fun ideas behind it, such as collecting clocks to stop time and freeze cycles, or desperately trying to find a spike to throw yourself onto in a room that's seemingly empty of hazards.

Some of the puzzles can be a little questionable, with some thinking out of the box being a must. Whilst the puzzle gimmick in the second stage is pretty cool and allows for some interesting thinking, I didn't really enjoy it as much as the others. The first stage of the game had a good balance of humour and puzzling which was the main takeaway from the game for me, and it even features a wolfieAbort in every room as a reminder of the possibilities when playing fangames.

Overall an enjoyable puzzle game. Be prepared for a little bit of galaxy braining though.

For: I wanna be Minimal
A very visually comforting needle game. Every screen is very easy on the eyes, and the game really builds itself on the minimalist aesthetic. There's a good variety of jumps throughout and nothing that felt unpleasant or bumpy to play.

Having said that, I wasn't really a massive fan of the needle style for the most part. It felt like the layouts used often really restricted the needle, and it felt like there was an abundance of nerfed diagonals and minispikes. The platform usage (particularly the miniblock platforms) I thought was particularly cool and is something I'd have liked to have seen more of. The water also felt a bit clunky to me, which I imagine is the same water that Meltdown suffers from.

Still, it's a very unique needle game. Maybe that's less true now that there are more artsy and minimalist needle games than there were back in 2014, but the combination of neatly arranged needle and even a few fun bosses scattered around to break up the platforming ends up making for a fun experience.

For: I wanna be the Kataribe
Kataribe is a nice little adventure game where you get to play as some peculiar little marshmallow-like character, as you venture throughout a variety of relatively short stages and boss fights. Whilst the game has a good amount of stages, none of them overstay their welcome and the bosses don't get too complicated or overly tanky, so the game doesn't end up too lengthy either.

Every stage focuses on a similar style of platforming, this being just standard easy'ish needle with some moving hazards along the way and a sprinkling of traps. There's good variance between stages so that they don't all just feel the same, but don't expect too much to change gimmick-wise. The bosses have some pretty cool visual effects going on despite their simplicity, and the attacks are for the most part all fun to dodge and play around, making for a nice round-off to each stage.

I did find a good deal of the platforming to be kind of forgettable, but that's not to say it was bad necessarily. Moreso, the bosses felt like the main attraction for me, and the platforming was often just a pleasant walk with some traps causing a bump along the way. A fun game overall though, and a good pick for an easier oldschool-y adventure.

For: I wanna be the normal human! 2
An enjoyable, story-heavy adventure game designed for a blind race competition. It's fun and has a lot of platforming and boss variety, and it features a unique mechanic in which everything is global and the Kid never truly dies. Cycles and boss HPs persist through deaths, so dying to a boss feels less punishing because you don't actually lose any progress. There's a neat mechanic that I haven't really seen before in the final stage where you shoot balls that follow a path and destroy spikes/blocks in the way; it makes for some interesting platforming.

And in case you have any interest in the story and cannot read Japanese:
The Kid is upset about always being able to respawn after dying, so in the first "I Wanna Be The Normal Human!" he fights God to be given the chance to become normal (that's the little girl you see in the flashback). However, she gets killed while helping the Kid by THE BAD GUY who is trying to unleash a virus on the world and wipe everyone out. The Kid gets framed by the police and is thrown in jail but gets let out by a police officer who believes his story for whatever reason. He then fights a girl who takes the Kid to the bad guy and also destroys the virus. The game ends by saying that it's okay to not be normal, and that the Kid has more to do before he can be normal.
