Rating based on new version.
The saves are of the short and precise kind. One of the saves is much harder than it should be because a mini-block is broken, but there is more difficult stuff on the later screens anyway, including some required jump cancels.
The difficulty curve is fairly progressive as the later screens are quite a bit harder, but there are still some easy saves mixed in which I don't mind personally. I enjoyed it.

Exactly what you would expect from the maker: trap-based areas with a design and tileset foreshadowing the legendary Pokemon boss you will face next. It's poorly done, imo. Stage 1 looks horrible; tiles and spikes look the same, and at instances many spikes are superimposed over the same 32X32 space so you may confuse it with a block and die. That is unfair design. If you pay more attention, you'll realize spikes are a wee bit lightly darker. Stage 2 is ok-ish and Stage 3 is decent, where needle finally shows its teeth. Bosses are meh overall, and there is a trick for the third boss in which you don't have to do anything and beat it. I decided to go for the intended way, because it was the only interesting challenge. Gimmicks are very low and, unlike the creator's other games, the traps in this one do harm entertainment value as there are more and many are towards the end of a save. Finally, the infinite jump gimmick for some bosses is badly implemented, because we're used to the mechanics of the double jump while doing it, but not here. Every jump is like a first jump, so calculatons will fail you many times for the wrong reasons.

Final game, which Burning Emblum uploaded on wiki and I guess it is also his final game in general before retiring, which he really tried to make harder than mos of his other games. He even writes it in game's readme: "This is fangame of "I wanna be the guy" which called "The final brutal game" in Japan.". I don't know why in Japan or anything else, but fine. But I think author also tried to make game as better as possible. For it he chose probably pretty good gameplay style, which he already has used in his other games, like I wanna shoot the star or I wanna resign the loneliness , where he basically use several screens of needle followed by avoidance. This time needle is made quite longer than usually and also quite harder, even though nothing too serious, however design this time was made a lot more simplistic for some reason, even though I liked more complexed one in his previous games more than this style, but fine, it isn't horrible, I had some fun on needle, even though some F jumps seemed out of topic, in my opinion. But the main point of creating was avoidance.

Avoidance this time is totally different, I had feeling that I am playing different creator's avoidance, and if there hadn't been Burning Emblum's classic effects, like spinning, cutsceens in the middle of avoidance, song's text and etc., I would even be in doubts of him making this avoidance. I had feeling that he wanted this time to make avoidance like Dagger or other famous creator of that time, but forgot that only his own style makes his avoidances so colossal. Why Dagger's? Just look - layout and outline tileset and sprite in the middle + song sounds quite dramatic, which is in Dagger's taste. The main problem is that author quite forgot that each person has its own style, and if you take different style, then something will seem weird. I really liked many his unique attacks, like the ones where are star attack with blurry effect, spike attack, sphere, the finale and others, but in the same time author wanted to create something hard, so it has a lot of unbalanced RNG attcks and even some precise patterns, which are just annoying and unfun. Also finale is quite hard, in my opinion. Overall, mixed feelings.

What can I say to his last work? Well, he definitely tried to make something impressive, but at the same time he ruined his game, in my opinion. Game doesn't feel like his game and has questionable platforming with even more questionable avoidance. Game is not bad, don't get me wrong. He tried to make hard game and he succeeded, even though it isn't his hardest game from games, which I saw, I still think that I wanna be a good player like liquid is harder, but that is my opinion. And, yes, I think it is better than I wanna resign the loneliness, but it still lacks to be as good as I wanna shoot the star. After all of that I would recommend this game, however even more I would recommend to look at his other games too, esepcially, already mentioned I wanna shoot the star or I wanna intense the refrection.

A 13 screen needle game consisting of regular needle, some vines and also water, doublejump water and catharsis water. Some screens have gravity flipping as well, but not too much.

The visuals are good imo and while the music felt out of place at first, it became very fitting and good once the game started getting hard. The music gave the game an eerie atmosphere similar to that of catharsis, and this really upped my overall experience and made the grindy saves tolerable.

As for the needle design, it starts off not too spectacular or special but some of the later screens are very well designed imo, screen 10 11 and 12 are among my favourite fangame screens of all time. Screen 12 especially really caught me off guard with the outstanding design, and I also enjoyed playing it despite usually hating gravity switching. The last screen has an interesting concept and is also pretty fun on the current version, and is not that hard.

What many would find problematic in this game is the volatile difficulty balance, but I think it should be bearable after all the nerfs. Don't expect the initial easy part to last long.

I would only recommend this to experienced needle players who are able to overlook the difficulty curve not being smooth and are also able to avoid getting pissed off by some grindier saves.
If you are like me though you will enjoy this game a ton even with its flaws.

Oh, and before I forget, try to not move after entering the second warp on screen 5 to avoid a transition death. It's the one with the vines at the top right and the warp inside a shuriken with a platform below it.

Last thing: If we overlook the testing problem, this is a very amazing first fangame imo.
