A true classic in every sense of the word. If you're a fan of the old japanese adventure game feel as I am, then this game is for you. Only thing I didn't really like about this game was the final boss (but thats probably more of an "I hate inf-jump bosses" problem than one with the boss itself).

Rating based on completion without secrets.
Play it if you enjoy stuff like Sudoku, its silly, but fun if you can deal with it.
Top left warp is a must play, the movement inputs needed to actually control the kid in it are comparable to playing some rythm game. Yes the area is cancer, but its fun cancer I think.
Rest is nothing special, just some easy fun silliness.
Kamilia area is fucking stupid, doesnt make any sense.

A really nice puzzle game with a bunch of different types of puzzles that are overall either really fun to solve, make absolutely no fucking sense even after having them explained (despike) or mechanics that are just so deep that I feel like I need to be a supercomputer to even try to solve without bruteforce (lasers and matching).
However the other puzzles (which are what im basing my rating out of) were really fun and made me feel like smart boy, so yeah! Not being forced to do everything is nice.
Id reccomend it unless you are a hardcore completionist. Good game!

Rating based on "bad" end (ie without doing the avoidance no checkpoints style)
This game was really good! Its full of fun and creative ideas, the game has a nice atmosphere to it and overall it was pretty fun.
However I do have a few bones to pick with this game, some going from minor to actually making this game not a 10 for me.
First of all, the game is not very colorblind friendly at parts, which kinda made some segments more annoying than they really needed to be for me (upper puzzle near the end and the rainbow apples at the avoidance come to mind). No real big issue though.
Then, I want to cover the overall wonkiness of the ice area, and by that I mean the weird ass physics (which honnestly aren't an issue at all once you figure out that its not supposed to work like normal ice), the weird hitboxes on the ice spikes (why are they rectangles that pop out of the sprite?) and the killer snowflakes that blend in with the background and are kinda hard to see. Again no real big issue, it doesnt affect enjoyment that much I found.
However, there is one last issue I had with this game, one which ultimately killed the romantic love I had for this game and that is the avoidance at the end. Yes, it does give really nice closure to the game. Yes, it is visually stunning and has a super nice song. That doesnt excuse it for being actively unfun though, with a few segments that are super tight for no reason and just make the avoidance a pain. You would say that it doesnt matter since the first time you get checkpoints and the avoidance itself isnt that hard, but I still didnt find much joy in playing through it, apart from maybe appreciating the spectacle, and even then, to get the good ending you need to do the avoidance again without checkpoints which, while I tried, just isnt my thing. Most people seem to enjoy this avoidance somehow anyways (though the rest of the game is so good I dont feel it detracts too much from my rating)
Overall, this game somewhat reminded me of crimson. Take that as you may.
