I tend to try and play games without ratings.
Only using 1-10 ratings as I find 1-100 too much for a person to pinpoint well. That's what averages are for.
I use this list for my difficulty rating guidelines. Example a game with almost soley moderately difficult platforming around the 6 range that has a screen of 7 at the end will still be ranked as a 6. Likewise a game with that same measurement but a last screen difficulty of 8 might get a 7 difficulty rating.
10 - Last TIS
9 - Kamilia 3
8 - Crimson Needle 2
7 - Kamilia 2
6 - NANG
5 - Cultured 1
4 - Citadel
3 - Bread
2 - Yellow Stars
1 - Challenge 100 trials
My personal ratings usually follow a somewhat predefined list of checks as follow. Obviously with all the diversity in fangames things can go up and down in rating based on a plethora of criteria. Something like the first half of the game being amazing and the last half falling flat might deserve a 5 for instance. This is just a quick idea of how I rate games in a broad sense.
1 - Hardly anything went into making this type of game.
2 - Shows some signs of effort.
3 - Generally novice game makers who tried but just didn't hit any marks.
4 - Fair effort given just lack of actual good execution.
5 - Time was invested and levels thought out just nothing special.
6 - Sparks of creativity or ingenuity arise.
7 - Ideas are well fleshed out and the games generally been put through multiple renditions.
8 - Production value exists on top of good game play.
9 - Either these games do something really really REALLY well or they're above any expectations, with major attractions covering their few flaws.
10 - I save this rating for generally 1 game at a time based on what I think is the best fangame I've ever played and had the most fun playing.

I wanna be the Story 2
This review is based on extra. This game is well put together and I'm bias towards the fact I didn't like a single gimmick. With that stated there are 4 main stages ice, sky, maze, and black and white. Black and white is a visually obstructive platforming section that was pretty standard excluding one of the last saves involving cherry dodges and platforming. Sky is a horrible grind fest learning patterns of bouncing shooting cherrys. Maze is actually good if you are looking for this kinda thing but one area requires you answer question correctly based on japanese questions. Ice is ice and trolls. After all the stages there are bosses which have super version you can do to access extra later. The extra stage is a single troll screen into a cluster mash of all the other gimmicks used for about 3 screens and is pretty hard. The last boss fittingly is all the other bosses mashed into one last fight each with their own health bar. I don't recommend this game, it's well put together for what it has. I just wasn't personally of fan of what it did have.

I wanna be the Dead End easymode
So the game lives up to its name. I ran into multiple dead end rooms. The creator has an affinity for miku and lovetrap. Which bodes as well as one would imagine when it comes to the bosses. The bosses are incredibly rng heavy (think random 360 the whole fight more or less) and rather frustrating to fight. One is okay in its design but shows no real promise even beyond that. I didn't really enjoy this game.
If you want to avoid the dead ends that I found just take the first portal in the first room otherwise you end up stuck and have to restart. [/spoilers]

I wanna be the Off party!!
This games has little cohesiveness to it as each screen changes the feel of the already awkward feeling game.. Each screen introduces a new sprite you either have to platform over or with. There's actually one ice physics gimmick and is probably the worst part of the whole game. The platforming is mostly easy but one section increases the difficulty quite a bit by having saves in hard to hit places. The bosses are nothing special but have saves inside the arena with them. The games good for a laugh and nothing else, its not well designed but I was in tears laughing at the finyal~ boss.

Really short avoidance that falls into the category of grind the intro to grind the last attack. It has infinity jump and the middle of the fight is actually pretty fun, but to beat it is not. There are much better things out there. Not recommended.

I wanna Weave Through the Witch's Needle
The witches needle is a game with 5 stages each of which has its own theme and a slight difficulty curve. The needle itself is varied and open and most jumps flow well into one another creating a real sense of progress. Aesthetically pleasing tile set makes this game easy enough to digest that I cant imagine most people won't beat this in one sitting. If you're newer to fangames this would be perfect to get a firm grasp on some concepts like how platforms work and why different types of water can be used without feeling cheated. Its a clean well crafted game. I'd highly recommend it.
