A beautiful, haunting needle game. Caretaker features some super fun platforming that takes advantage of unique gimmicks and more well known fare equally, creating something that is fun to play whether it's feeling new or familiar. The atmosphere of the game is also really well done, bringing an evocative, horror-adjacent feeling to the game. It feels like a spiritual successor to Dopamine's games, which is a massive complement.
I haven't heard the music this game is inspired by, but I know of the themes, and I must say this game does an excellent job conveying them. The feeling of mounting horror mixed with melancholy is drawn out through incredible use of visuals and audio, creating a truly emotional experience.
Overall, this game is an easy recommendation for fans of gimmick needle, but especially those who like thematic artistic games.

A short IWBTG parody with intentionally bad graphics and funny text replacements. A lot of the jokes are pretty funny, but the majority of the game is just basic traps and long saves. With how slow the physics feel it's mostly just a slog. The original jokes are quite good though, I would love seeing something like this with more substance and less basic trap design

Lesbian Burnmind is another wonderful adventure game from Jane_Chef. This game deviates from the constant humor of Chungo (although it still has plenty of jokes), instead focusing on creating a symbolic and emotional journey. It joins the ranks fangames that aspire to be more than just a game, but rather a piece of art meant to evoke emotion in the player. It does a wonderful job of melding form and function, creating something that was as fun to play as it was interesting to think about. The gimmicks and bosses are a blast, featuring some really unique stuff, like an awesome run n' gun section. I hadn't expected to beat this game in a single sitting, but in the end I just couldn't put it down and played it front to back.
As a queer person, the story and themes of this game are really meaningful to me. There were several parts that hit like a gut punch, feeling like they were drawn from my own life. Even the parts that deviated from my experience still felt relatable and important to me. The game conveys its themes incredibly, and I found myself fully invested in the journey of this kid who was so much a mirror of my younger self.
Overall, an incredible piece of art, and beyond that just an incredible game. Even if you're not one for symbolism and such, the game is still an easy recommendation since it's just a blast. Easily one of the most memorable fangames to me, I can tell it's one I'll be thinking of years in the future. Someday, when my fangaming days are behind me, this is the kind of game I will remember. Someone pouring their heart into a game meant for a small group of people, saying "fuck you" to the rules, and creating something beautiful as a result.

A short but sweet adventure game featuring entirely handdrawn art. The visuals are gorgeous, with a lot of cool details that are allowed by unique art and lack of tiles. Unfortunately the gameplay suffers slightly, with a few places that have an annoyingly difficult needle jump shoved in. However, it's easy to look past this when everything you're seeing is so interesting. Due to the short length the minor annoyance is easy to look past, making this a good game to play if you're looking for something short and visually pleasing.

A fun classic adventure game that I found to be seriously underrated. Western House features four areas, each with a few different gimmicks. The gimmicks were used quite well, creating some enjoyable screens that feel novel, despite the simplicity of the gimmicks. Nothing really overstays its welcome, and the game is constantly giving you new things to play with. The bosses are fun, and use the gimmicks from their stages to create unique fights. The final boss uses attacks inspired by the previous 4, creating a fun fight that has a variety of attacks involving different gimmicks.
The game is pretty heavy on the traps, and they're all very old school. Despite this, I found myself laughing out loud from some of them, something incredibly rare for a fangame this old. It understands how to make simple traps a surprise, without becoming an annoyance.
Overall, this game is highly recommended for fans of classic adventure games. I would encourage you to not be deterred by the low average score, I found this game to stand on the same level as other well regarded games from this era.
