This is a hybrid needle/sudoku game with an emphasis on the sudoku. Firstly, your normal kid jump is replaced by a far clunkier mario-ish jump. You can still double jump, but now, whenever you land, you get stuck in the floor by a certain amount of pixels. Before you can jump again, you have to smoosh your way out of the floor. And if you misjudge, you'll jump early. This is more or less the whole challenge of the game.
The graphics for everything are static, custom, and weird. There are 'goombas' that die with a gun-shot sound effect, and a bomb trap that screams at you. Most of the screens are quite short and fairly straightforward, but there was one screen with what I would call a fun puzzle-type interaction. The clear screen was also very funny. And the jump sound effect stacks on itself if you spam jump, creating ear-crushing noise at whim.
I think I would recommend this game, but it is very weird. If that's what you're looking for, go for it, it's quite short.

It's not possible for me to give a very objective review of this game, considering I know the creator personally and like them a lot. That being said, it is just a single screen of jtool needle, but I feel like cLOUDDEAD vastly understimates how hard that middle jump w/ the shuriken shape is for the average player. It's more or less the centerpiece of the screen, and it actually caused a small debate in the #jtool channel about whether or not it was possible. In practice, it's really fun, and to be frank, I would love to see more 'highly playable' needle from this creator. There's a palpable sense of emotion, or reaching for emotion, that mimics the best precedents already set in somber yet expressive poetic needle games. Obviously I am reading a lot into just one screen, but I guess that's sort of my schtick. From the player's perspective, this is essentially a small cover letter: a little bit of paper shoved under the door saying "Am I good enough to come in yet?"

The song is an instrumental of The Fray's 'How to Save a Life', and I like that song a lot, so I liked its implementation. The tileset choices are Catharsis-esque without being directly derivative. And the gate at the end warmed my heart, even though it meant the journey was over.
Hope to see 'happyboy' needle some time in the future.

An homage to the Uhuhu games in terms of its 'pulses with the music' neon aesthetic, bouncy anime medley music, and unorthodox spike shapes. This one falls short of the mark for me compared to Peppermint Dandy specifically due to the (in my mind) glaring overusage of 16 pixel landings and jumps. It seems like at a certain point almost every other jump, or sometimes many in a row, involve 16px maneuvering, and while I find that can be enjoyable in small doses, it felt really exhausting over the course of a whole game with quite a few screens. In addition, the anime medley didn't do it for me—it sticks to the same instrument voice for every melody for almost the entire duration, and the snippets are so short that even the one or two songs I recognized were gone before I had a chance to enjoy them. A lot of the 'unorthodox' jumps boil down either to modified gates or 16px. And the drops in general are hard, but quite rewarding most of the time. There's almost always a way to shorten them in some fashion.
A fun-ish vanilla needle overall, but I'd recommend the originals or Galvanized Peppermint Dandy before this one.

n FTFA-like executed by one of my favorite makers in the community. It is very hard to describe the experience of this game. It was spiritual, in a way. The music is very ambient but not in a haunting way, tho it has an ethereal quality. The loop is short and the gameplay sections are perfectly polished and honed to represent an homage to the original source material. I am not good enough to play FTFA, but when I see others play it, and can sense the palpable tension and relief it creates in them, this game feels like that. It feels very compact and beautiful. I recommend it to everyone.

A minimalistic needle game usually with two saves per screen. Simple atmospheric music on a short loop, custom jump and death noises that fit the somewhat arrested mood, and visuals that draw the eye but don't make the platforming unnecessarily confusing. Only ran into a few fuzzy pathing issues later on, and those are mostly because I am dumb. A great showcase of polished design in the intermediate needle format, with minor implementation of platform boost jumps in a few places.
