Incredible game, some of the most fun I've ever had playing a fangame. Sometimes you even forget you're playing a fangame since the production quality is just that good. Certainly one of the most well-produced fangames I've ever played. Something this game also scores a 10 on for me is its theming. Every stage has a certain theme that it sticks to and it does incredibly well, all of the stages were memorable to me. The platforming itself is top-notch as well. The only real "critique" I can put here for this game are the fact that the bosses are very pattern heavy. There are next to no RNG attacks in any of the bosses. This can make grinding the bosses somewhat tedious, as it is mostly trial and error, getting one attack further before dying to the next attack because you didn't know where to stand/what to do. For me, this wasn't too big of an issue, I still found every boss very unique and enjoyable in their own way.
But overall this is one of the best fangames I've ever played. Would recommend if you have quite a bit of experience with fangames already.

One of my favorite tilesets from any needle game i've cleared, i love this tileset. Music is good too. I also appreciate the fact the maker turned off the death sound effect as that enhances the overall atmosphere of the game greatly. Overall the saves have great difficulty balance, only the last save can be kind of annoying if you're not used to it.

Are you ready to test your platforming prowess and nerves of steel? "I Wanna Be the Fangame" offers a heart-pounding journey through a world filled with perilous traps and challenging obstacles. As a dedicated fan of precision platformers, I delved into this homage to the genre with both excitement and trepidation, and what I discovered was an adrenaline-fueled experience that left me simultaneously frustrated and exhilarated.
At the heart of "I Wanna Be the Fangame" is its protagonist, the enigmatic "kid." Players step into the shoes of this intrepid adventurer as they navigate through a series of meticulously designed levels, each more devious than the last. From spinning saw blades to lethal spikes and everything in between, every step forward is a calculated risk, and every mistake is met with swift punishment.
One of the game's most defining features is its unrelenting difficulty. "I Wanna Be the Fangame" pulls no punches, offering a challenge that will test even the most seasoned platforming veterans. Yet, despite the frustration that inevitably accompanies repeated failures, there's an undeniable satisfaction in overcoming each obstacle. Each victory is hard-won, but oh so sweet.
Visually, the game embraces a retro aesthetic reminiscent of classic 2D platformers. While the graphics may not boast the latest in high-definition rendering, they perfectly capture the nostalgic charm of the genre. The environments are diverse and creatively crafted, providing a sense of immersion that keeps players engaged even as they face seemingly insurmountable odds.
However, it's the gameplay itself that truly shines in "I Wanna Be the Fangame." Tight controls are essential in any precision platformer, and this game delivers in spades. Responsive movement and precise jumping mechanics ensure that every death feels fair, motivating players to hone their skills and tackle each challenge with renewed determination.
Of course, no review of "I Wanna Be the Fangame" would be complete without mentioning its vibrant community. With a dedicated fanbase creating custom levels and mods, the game offers endless replayability for those who dare to dive deeper into its merciless world. From speedrunning competitions to collaborative level design projects, there's always something new to discover in this ever-evolving landscape.
In conclusion, "I Wanna Be the Fangame" is a must-play for fans of precision platformers looking for their next adrenaline fix. With its challenging gameplay, charming retro visuals, and thriving community, it's a title that continues to captivate players long after they've mastered its most punishing obstacles. Just remember: in this unforgiving world, every victory is earned, one death at a time.
