a pretty good adventure game by dagger. mostly filled with decent-to-good ideas, with the exception of the puzzle section, for which i decompiled the game to figure out what to do. needle is somewhat sub-par due to the amount of squished diagonals and similar. other than that there aren’t too many major drawbacks.
a decent chunk of the game’s content is in extra, so i’d recommend finding all the secrets any way you know how and playing the extra stages, since they greatly contribute to this game. while i didn’t have too good of a time with the ex miku fight, i still think it’s worth playing.
ascii stage is my favorite due to its silliness

fun trap game consisting of a good amount of intuitively built and well-made trap sequences, forcing you to do all sorts of weird and/or funky movements to dodge the onslaught of traps in every single room in this game. the rooms are designed in a deceivingly simple way, to lull you into a false sense of security at first, then building atop the given simple foundation. an otherwise uninteresting needle room is turned into this arena of pure chaos as this game bombards you with its creative traps.
the bosses are fitting and quite fun, with the phone boss being a good bit more difficult than the first one. the final boss is unfortunately: missing.
only other downside of this game is that the title is slightly misleading and koishi barely appears in this game

fun fact every review’s difficulty rating is divisible by 5
a pretty tough puzzle game all things considered. 100 rooms of key puzzles and a fitting final boss (despite being unquestionably far easier than the entire game leading up to it). despite getting quite difficult towards the last 20-25 rooms and me subsequently not enjoying the game past room 70, i’m not going to give it a low rating since my enjoyment has little (if nothing) to do with the game’s quality rating.
this game in its early and middle stages consists of very creative and intuitively designed rooms. unfortunately, what i like to call “corridor puzzle” becomes prevalent and the game therefore becomes repetitive. the same few tricks are used for multiple rooms, which get more and more complex as Nekoroneko adds more and more gates, colors, keys, or even entire rows of all of the aforementioned. this leads to rooms like 80 taking me more than an hour to solve, and the 90s not being much easier. sort of like corridor needle, “corridor puzzle” is about as much cheap difficulty as its needle variant. usually it’s an okay compromise, as not every room in a game needs to be the highest quality; however, the same general room layout gets tiring.
overall quite interesting and well-made for the most part. i beat this game in a painful 10 hours, which seems to be below average. yeah i’ll admit i’m bad at this sort of thing since i eventually resorted to bruteforcing some super tiring rooms

very annoying and uncomfortable game filled with poorly-made bosses, annoying traps and gimmicks that straight up don't work half the time. the entire game is a mess, with every area having its own issue.
fire/lava area has terrible needle and annoying traps; boss is rng garbage
water area is filled with these horrible spinning spike things that are placed in the most unimaginably annoying and uncomfortable ways. you repeatedly have to 2f or 1f through these since they're almost always placed at ground height or just the right height to poke you from under a block; boss is ????
desert area is very boring and long with instagibs and more uncomfortable and unfun jumps at the end of saves. block pushing gimmick barely works and randomly kills you sometimes. also you can damage the blocks by just being orthogonally adjacent to them. i guess the later sub-areas in this area are better but not by much, as they still have their own issues. boss is very annoying and hard to understand.
final area is the only thing worth playing, except the fact the screen k2 uses and the mirrored screens before it are likely the most interesting parts of the game. even this part gets ruined and becomes really annoying though, the screen before the k2 one is awful and ends in the most stupid and uncomfortable way imaginable. that sort of platforming is what i mean when i say this game is uncomfortable and unfun. no one would genuinely enjoy inverted control spam and headhitters. boss is okay i guess.
final boss is quite bad, as personally i think the song is bad and the attacks simply aren't fun. i know the game is old and that partially excuses this, however i still didn't enjoy it regardless of its age.

avoidance is somewhat well made, i found it quite fun. first half is mainly pattern while the 2nd half is mainly rng. final is by far the hardest part and the early patterns can be somewhat annoying to learn. other than that i'd recommend it.
needle isn't very notable other than the fact save 2 is harder than the entire rest of the screen
