Very old and classic adventure game I think is a bit underappreciated especially by newer players. The game has a decent amount of interesting ideas and concepts which are unique especially for the time it came out, and to this day hold up. The main complaints about this game I have are some saves have a few too many traps, and of course the vampire bat boss is pretty terrible. It's one of the few instances where I think the idea for the boss is just bad, and as such it's simply not fun to play. But that's just one part of the game, there's so much else worth playing in my opinion that I can't mind it too much. The final stage is very fun and of course the final boss is totally iconic at this point, and for good reason, it's a great idea for a fight which is fun to play. Overall, would recommend this one!

If you look at the ratings for this game, they are all incredibly positive, and it's not hard to see why. While this review is very negative I should say, like most games I dislike, I respect this game for what it is, and there are absolutely qualities it has that are 100% valid and understandable reasons to like or love it. Despite that, I absolutely did not like this game, and to explain why I'll try to break the game down into 3 core elements, all of which I have issues with. Those are the metroidvania structure, the bosses, and most crucially, the platforming.
Firstly the metroidvania aspect. There are two major things I dislike about it, the first being the lack of a map and the second being the backtracking. The lack of the map is really annoying, because this game has moments where you need to explore and find new areas to make progress as you need to get all 7 power capsules in order to beat the game. This is very difficult when you don't even have a map in-game to navigate any of the world. This isn't that bad on it's own. but I just could not get behind the backtracking in this game. A lot of the backtracking in other games like this tends to be because you got a new ability that makes you look at the area different and encourages you to want to go back. In this game you backtrack because you got the item that breaks a particular barricade. It's not exciting at all and is just not at all engaging for me.
Next is the bosses. I probably have the least to say about these. Most of them are pattern based which just means you learn the patterns and then can beat them, usually they aren't even that hard to beat due to being able to get high enough attack to destroy them before any hard attacks, I didn't even get the most powerful items in my playthrough and I found them quite easy. I wasn't really into these at all, also the spider boss is kinda annoying.
Now for by FAR my biggest complaint about this game, and that's the platforming. There is almost no platforming in this game I enjoyed, and that's for a handful of reasons. This game is an absolute slog to go through because nearly every single platforming section is heavily based on cycles and memorizing enemy patterns. I firmly believe nothing in this game is that hard, but it takes FOREVER to get through because every couple screens you have to stop and trial and error through some obnoxious pattern or cycle until you figure it out and save. This is the gameplay loop for the entire game, and it gets old incredibly fast. It feels like such a lame way to make a game "hard" since almost everything is difficult because you don't know what to do. This was easily my biggest issue with the game, and it was a complaint I had for my entire playthrough.
This review and score is very harsh, and honestly I don't hate the game, but I probably wouldn't choose to play this over basically any other fangame, and that saddens me. I'm happy others enjoyed it more than me, and if the other reviews are anything to go off this game is 100% worth a try, but I just could not get into it at all.

Pretty interesting adventure game with a sizeable amount of content. It's pretty solid, there's some good ideas and fun saves, and the bosses are neat, I thought most of them are pretty good. I say most because the most notable blemish this game has in my opinion is the final boss. It's got a lot of flaws some of my least favorite avoidances like Sunspike IA have, mostly way too many patterns which are just standing in a safespot and doing nothing, and random difficulty spikes. At least it's not that hard but it's much harder than the rest of the game imo, which I don't mind but it should be known about. Solid experience regardless!

This avoidance is pretty odd, lots of luck involved here which can be frustrating, but the attacks are often fun and satisfying to dodge, and the way the music corresponds to the avoidance is really good in my opinion. This is underrated in both quality and difficulty, I really find this avoidance extremely difficult, but at the same time you can get very lucky and destroy it. Fun experience but not recommended for people looking to improve your reading of fast RNG because you might just get demotivated.

Extremely varied and interesting fangame with a massive amount of content. This game constantly builds upon itself, started with a hyper basic needle screen before the real game starts, then a linear short adventure game, before becoming an open world mesh of gimmicks and ideas which make the entire game feel different from almost any other fangame. Now with this much variety, not all of these ideas are gonna be a winner. The puzzle based stages and the dash jumps I thought were a mix of boring and annoying, but the sheer amount of enjoyable content is astounding. The highlights for me were the romroom, classic, VVVVVV, night cave, and under stages. I can safely say I love this game, and in many ways it represents what I love about fanmade games in general. As a final point, the ending content is pretty tough, but most of the game can be enjoyed even if you aren't amazing at fangames, so I would totally recommend!
