Fantastic touhou inspired fangame. The game consists of platforming segments with bosses at the end, based on the touhou franchise and various games within it. To start with the platforming, I absolutely love it. It's primarily based on cycle stuff, but that's underselling it, as the platforming feels like a combination of bullet hell and needle gameplay, which blends together very nicely and creates a wonderfully unique set of stages to play through. Some saves are just dodging an enemies fire, or dodging enemy attack patterns while traversing around a screen, and it never gets old and stays very consistently enjoyable. This is complimented with the bosses, which are blantant touhou inspired fights, sometimes taking the exact same spellcards and translating them to an IWBTG environment. These are all great, and while they sometimes can be jerks by going too close to the bottom of the screen (I believe this is called Doremy syndrome) I enjoyed all of them. This fangame is a must play if you want a difficult adventure game in my opinion!

Interesting adventure fangame that's actually quite old. It's a take on a medley type game, incorporating references and room layouts/bosses from other fangames, and making it's own stages out of them. For the most part it's pretty standard, however there were some quality dips, mostly the platforming in the original stages, which I thought was a little weaker than the main game, especially the darkness area. The final boss is cool, however it is WAY harder than the rest of the game, being a 6 minute long barrage avoidance. While never too hard, it's quite the endurance test, and I can see even a decently experienced player getting stuck there. It's still a solid game, albeit a flawed one, and maybe not the best aged.

I think when trap games become more difficult, they often become more like trigger needle games. Rukito games, Noesis, even something like Metamorphosis are games I'm much more comfortable calling trigger needle games over trap games. Sorcerer 2 is an exception to this, as this is a full-on trap game at a very high difficulty for this genre, something it both benefits and suffers from. On the good end, a lot of the platforming is of quality, with some fun gimmicks and traps leading to a few creative jumps and sections, especially in something like the final stage. On the other end the traps can be a little tiring, as you overcome a difficult needle challenge just to get smashed by 3 traps afterwards. It's something that never really goes away throughout the game, and is makes this an extremely exhausting game to play even when it's fun. The weakest point is definitely the bosses. I honestly didn't really like any of them, and as of writing this review I don't even remember what the first boss was when I did it the exact same day. Regardless this is a cool game, it's far from perfect but it's definitely solid.

Really terrible fangame. There used to be a bit here about me complaining the final boss is luck based but I don't believe that anymore, so I've removed it and increased my difficulty rating.
At it's core, Explorer 2 is a 100f game, and it has a lot of the major shortcomings of one. Mainly, the first half is super bland and boring. Very few unique ideas, ultra easy bosses, the whole nine yards which make a game like this boring. The game takes a nosedive in the later parts, where the annoying traps, generic jumps, and bland level design begin to take a toll, especially with some REALLY egregious platforming screens like F88. Then the bosses are stupid, most are nothing, floor 60 boss is just annoying, floor 80 boss has too much health, the avoidance at floor 90 is kinda cool and the only thing in this game I truly enjoyed, and then the final boss is the worst boss I've ever played. The gameplay loop of the final boss is simple. You learn the easy attacks, and then grinded the stupid luck based final attack. When you clear, it will not be because you outplayed the game, or because you read the RNG well, or because you had good dodges. It will be because the game decided not to wall you. It's absolutely horrible, and makes for one of the most artificially difficulty fangames I've ever played. It's safe to say I don't recommend this one in the slightest.

TIS is a game that needs no introduction, it's one of the most iconic avoidance games of all time and if Kamilia 3 didn't exist, it's very likely the first boss would be the most well known Taisa of all time. The game contains two bosses, often referred to as the first and second body. The difficulty of this game is nothing to scoff at, as even now the first body is still a very high level avoidance accomplishment. However everyone knows this already, so talking about the design is more interesting.
The first body is an interesting avoidance, it very infamous for being unfair, but honestly I don't think it's as bad as some people say. If I had a major complaint, it's that the intro can be pretty annoying to die to, as while the slow pace doesn't bother me too much, it's a bit awkward and destroys you. The 2nd half of phase 1 is really good though, and phase 2 is super awesome. I had a fun time playing it, and the platform attack is a GREAT idea which is really fun, even if it's super silly when the platform trolls you with bad bounces.
Second body is a bit more simple I think, it has less RNG as there are more pattern based attacks, but there's still some parts where you can get owned. It's much easier and more chill, and overall I think it's the stronger avoidance in terms of quality.
Individual scores for the avoidances would be 8.0/10 and 90/100 for first body, and 8.5/10 and 82/100 for second body. I averaged the quality scores and then took first body's difficulty score for my rating. Overall would recommend if you have the patience for it.
