Pretty decent needle game, I think a lot of the easier stuff is pretty good and a lot of the harder stuff is kinda annoying, in particular the final save of Maxim's area is pretty frustrating. The stages are mostly pretty basic needle but they feel quite different from each other which makes the game a little more interesting. If you bother getting secrets there's a bonus stage which is all over the place but ultimately is pretty alright, although some saves are really really dumb. All in all a decent game that I didn't have a ton of fun with, but didn't dislike either.

Try a collab is pretty well known in the community, and the idea behind it is pretty neat. Each stage has it's individual components from music, graphics, level design, and coding done by different people, making for very unorthodox stages. There's a lot of content in this game, although generally it stays at a quality level of "pretty good." There's a lot of really unfunny memes in this game, maybe I'm not the target audience but I just don't find them funny at all, and they can often be coupled with some of the more annoying things in the game, particularly the more memey bosses and stages were really weak in my opinion. While nothing in this game was amazing, there was enough fun content to warrant a positive review, and I would definitely say this game is worth messing around with.

This review is based on a 100% clear of the demo, it may be updated if I ever finish the full game when that comes out.
I play a lot of adventure fangames, and if you have seen me talk or play adventure games there's probably eventually gonna be a point where I complain about puzzles. For some reason puzzles don't click with me the way it does for others. I get frustrated, I get annoyed, I give up easily, and I just look for a solution online because I don't care. I had basically accepted that puzzles were not me, and that I would never be able to enjoy them. I Wanna Lockpick was the game that challenged this idea.
I will probably never be able to explain what made this game so fun for me, but I loved it. On a surface level Lockpick is a game with a ton of unique ideas and gimmicks baked underneath an incredibly simple premise, get keys, open doors. There's a ton of super interesting mechanics which can often times completely change how you go about the puzzle solving process, but in a lot of ways it feels like as you progress, you get this toolbox of mechanics you learn about and get comfortable with, and as you do so you begin to understand the kinds of thinking and logic you need to solve puzzles in this game. This to me, kept the game very fresh, as it felt like the way I saw the game changed with every world, and I had new stuff to learn. The game is very tough, particularly the final puzzle of the game is a true monster, but there's just so many great and challenging puzzles here that kept it so interesting and fresh, not to mention the number of puzzles which stray from the Keypick design philosophy and are more about playing with wacky concepts or mechanics in creative ways. There was always something new to appreciate with this game and I was certainly never bored. I am very impressed with this game, and even if it ends up being too much for me, I'm quite excited to see how the full version expands on this crazy game even more.

Needle, as a genre, is kind of ridiculous, because it encapsulates so many different types of fangames. There's so many styles and sub-genres of needle that hardly play similarly to truly be encapsulated with just one word. At the end of the day, needle games are just platformers, and everyone likes their platformers differently. I think that in a sense, genre labels are almost against what I like about fangames and fan-made works in general, and that is the way they are not bound by rules and restrictions a lot of media made for profit is. Who's to say what a needle game is, or is not, it's all made up anyways. Is this relevant to UNG? Not exactly, but at the bare minimum I think UNG is one of those cases which demonstrates how irrelevant the categorization of everything is, because in a sense it feels isolated from any of this stuff, it's just it's own thing, floating in it's own bubble, and it's an awesome thing.
In spite of what I think is the expected experience, I truly believe this game to be one of the most enjoyable fangames of all time, every stage brings something fresh to the table, mechanics not seen elsewhere, creative jumps, and it's all bundled in some of the most satisfying platforming I've seen in any game. The learning curve of this game is rough, everything wants to kick your ass and you'll often enter a stage and be like "there's no way I'll be able to handle this." However under the rough exterior is a game that in many ways is rather forgiving, nothing in this game is all that precise or intricate save for maybe a handful of exceptions, it's all rather consistent, which means that even though a lot of your deaths are just learning how something works, it's super quick to get back where you died and learn. This gameplay loop is incredibly satisfying to me, and makes for a game that is super fun to play blind. All of this, concluded with a fun boss with similar design principles to the rest of the game. To say the least I walked away from this incredibly impressed, there's a lot I'd have to say if I listed everything I like about this game, I think everyone should at least try it because I truly believe this to be one of the best fangames out there if it ends up being to your taste. Absolutely phenomenal work.

This game is split into quite a few mini-stages, and there's a decent number of unique gimmicks, but the platforming in this game is very bare bones and that will be most of the content you explore. The worst of it is stage 2, where you have to do the 3 mini-stages once normally, then again with no saves. The final stage is probably the highlight of the game platforming wise but still pretty weak I'd say, especially the maze. The bosses are alright, although rather basic. They were a bit more interesting to me and probably the only part I'd say I really had fun with unfortunately. Not a bad game but I struggled to get into it at all.
