This review is based on getting the True Ending
The thing that sticks out upon finishing this game is just how impressive it is, it's so varied and very much takes a quality over quantity approach. The stages are mostly just 1 save long endeavors, with their own visuals and atmosphere and gimmicks to make them fresh. The game isn't afraid to throw insane curveballs at you or just challenges that can often feel unreasonable, whether it be because a really hard to adapt to mechanic or just a really long save. This design process of throwing the player immediately into deep water is maybe frustrating to some, but I feel like it really allows each save to shine, they all feel pivotal to the game and memorable.
This game is also just really good at staying fresh and interesting, basically every moment of my playthrough I was excited to see what was next because even with the content which reuses gimmicks from earlier in the game, it's always doing something new. I was genuinely shocked with just how much there was to this game considering how varied it all is, and I love basically every save. If I had to list a low point it would probably be hunting for secrets, but even then it's fine, just not what I was interested in and a few secrets were kinda annoying to look for. Beyond that I think this game is pretty amazing and a shining beacon of just how interesting and engaging fangame platforming can be at it's best.

While far less intricate and precise than the original FTFA, this game compensates with some truly wacky sequences using gimmicks you've probably seen before and a plethora of triggers to make something fresh from a game most needle players are very familiar with. All in all it works quite well, there's like one thing in save 4 I thought was annoying precise but beyond that I found the game to be very interesting and fun, and also it works quite well played blind because it's all consistent and balanced so the end of a save usually won't throw anything too ridiculous at you. It's just 4 really solid gimmick needle saves, although I will say saves 3 and 4 are way harder than the first two, so even if you are intimidated by the difficulty ratings you can still give the first two screens a try! Cool stuff :D

Super charming trap game, lots of hilarious moments topped with some truly interesting and engaging sequences. The boss in the game is quite nice, and a few other moments stick out like the room with the memory challenge on a 4x4 grid, and of course the advertisement room. If you like traps you'll almost certainly enjoy this.

This review is based on a 100% clear
The original I Wanna Be The Guy and the fangames that spawned from it are a rather interesting subset of video games, because while fangames themselves are derivative works, the original game itself is deeply rooted in inspirations from a variety of retro titles. The original game however takes those inspirations and does new things with them, subverts expectations, and creates an experience which was unique to itself, and one that would inspire others to do the same. In some senses, The Farewell Medley is the next recursion of this design philosophy, but instead of random games from someone’s childhood, it’s working with over a decade of fangame history to create something unique of its own, and it absolutely succeeds.
While the game is not a traditional medley, it does come jam packed with references, tributes, mechanics, and more from various fangames, mostly notably the titular Farewell. Make no mistake however, this game is not just regurgitating these things, they are often just used as a foundation to make something new, on top of a game jam packed with original content, sometimes not even being a platformer, there’s an idle game, puzzle stages, a rhythm game, a racing game, a schmup, and much more. Very little of the content is actually required, but basically everything in the game is of quality, you can easily get lost in the optional content for hours and not even touch the main story of the game. At some points the game truly feels endless, and there’s just too many iconic and memorable moments.
It would be basically impossible to go over everything in the game, plus Canus has basically done it, but some parts that stuck out to me were the Farewell mods, which in my eyes is one of the greatest fangame stages of all time, the ending to both the any% ending and the true ending, which are great conclusions and wonderfully designed segments, the Zangief fights, which were pretty fun to grind out, particularly the Farewell one, the TIS challenges which I grinded out all of in one sitting because I have no self control, the Mysterious Study which, while I didn’t love everything, had a lot of puzzles I thoroughly enjoyed, and some of the stages you can play by befriending the three main characters, a lot of them were totally awesome.
While not all the content is a perfect 10/10, this game is more than the sum of its parts. It all combines to make something which is truly one of a kind, and is easily one of the most addicting and enjoyable fangame experiences I’ve gotten the pleasure of playing. If you were like me and haven’t tried it, and have some fangame skill and experience, you would be doing yourself a disservice to not try it at least once. Absolutely Incredible.

Very creative game, it's a bit all over the place but that's not necessarily a bad thing, in a short playtime you'll see a ton of unique ideas, some of which I haven't seen in many places before, such as the mario kart and puzzles & dragons stage. It's a really impressive game and it was really fun to see what new stuff was coming, basically all of it is fun even if it a bit simplistic at times. If you enjoy wacky ideas and varied gameplay, this is a hidden gem.
