The amount of ideas in this game is impressive, and definitely the most appealing part of it. It's on the shorter side, only 4 stages each a couple of screens long, but each has it's own idea, and pretty decent bosses as well. There are also traps, most are fine except one in the Crimson stage I thought was super unnecessary. Overall this game is definitely worth playing, I think anyone can find something to enjoy.

This might be the single most frustrating game I've ever played, and for reasons that aren't the gameplay. This is because this game feels like it could be waay more fun if it weren't for one fatal flaw that plagues a massive portion of the game. To start with the good, the platforming. It's fantastic honestly, most stages introduce multiple gimmicks and they are used in fun ways and never overstay their welcome. I really really like the platforming in this game, and it's why, even if by only a little bit, my rating sways just barely in the positive direction. Unfortunately at the end of all of these platforming stages, we get some bosses. The bosses in this game might have some of the most consistently unpleasant bosses I've seen in a fangame, even fangames I dislike have little hints of fun in a handful of bosses, but every boss in this game plays out the same. They are pattern oriented, so you slowly learn the patterns, and then you kill them. Now that isn't necessarily a bad thing, so where does it go wrong?
Let's start with the process of killing the bosses. Bosses in this game have no iframes, so instead you mash to kill them. When I say mash, I mean leisurely push the shoot button because if you actually mash in this game which ENCOURAGES YOU TO, it throttles your gun so you can't shoot anymore. Many of the bosses can have attacks skipped by killing them early, and since all of them have repeating cycles, it can be hugely beneficial to kill them early, but it's also just unsatisfying. Why learn the patterns if you can just shoot better and win anyways. The most annoying part is both of these issues can just be solved by adding iframes, which are not present here like I mentioned earlier. I'm really not big on this style of bosses, I don't like this in boshy and I don't like it here, but what really makes or breaks a boss is the attacks, which aren't fun either! Nearly every death to a boss in this game is forgetting a pattern, at least for me. If it's not forgetting a pattern, it's learning one in the first place, and they are hardly interesting, a lot of them can be boiled down to incredibly basic sequences or just standing in a spot and jumping. It gets old fast. It's not like pattern bosses are bad, it's just these patterns aren't fun and there's barely any randomness to spice it up. This makes the bosses unbearably tedious and annoying for me, and ultimately is why I've rated this game so low.
In conclusion this game has great platforming and tedious bosses. I would have loved to enjoy this game as much as others, but I really just can't stand those bosses, especially Boss 4 and the Final Boss. In the end I'm left disappointed and frustrated.

This review is based on getting the "Better" ending, which simply involves doing the checkpointless final avoidance.
Domu is one of the most consistently high quality fangames I've ever played. Each stage bring something fresh to the table which helps enhance the game from "cycle needle" to dynamic and interesting platforming. Sometimes the platforming sorta feels like a mixture of needle and avoidance, and that is reinforced by the final avoidance. There's just so many fun saves here, and the game flows incredibly well. A lot of cycle based platforming has the issue of screeching to a halt while the player trials and errors timings and setups, but this game has none of that because it's just so intuitive to play, which feels great. The bosses are also pretty good, having fun engaging attacks even on the easier fights. The final avoidance is a masterpiece in my opinion, tying the whole game together, and the transition to the credits makes the ending that much more impactful and grandiose. If you absolutely had to squeeze one complaint out of me, there was ONE save in the cactus area I thought was tedious, but the complaints end there. Basically a perfect game for me.

Adventure game which is decently sizeable and a good amount of variety. It's certainly a spectacle to look at but there's a few things which I had issues with. The traps felt kinda out of place, I think the game would flow better without them, and some of the platforming (especially in the earlier parts) isn't very noteworthy in my opinion. There were two major blemishes towards the end, the Robot boss was sorta obnoxious and tedious, and the platforming stage after annoyed me a lot, I'm not even sure why I just really hated it. Despite those things, the rest of the game has cool satisfying platforming, bosses which really feel like impactful boss fights in their scope, and a great conclusion. Absolutely play it if you haven't!

Super fun game, there's a combination of solid needle and solid bosses which make this a very enjoyable experience from start to finish, for the most part. The needle stages are pretty basic as far as needle goes, but there's the occasional moving object or unique obstacle which adds a little bit of flavor, and there's not really any annoying or uncomfortable jumps. The bosses are pretty neat as well, they kinda take a backseat to the needle in terms of difficulty, as they are all short and simple, but the two major exceptions are the last two bosses. The pre-final boss is kinda annoying, easily the weakest part of the game for me, but I like the final avoidance, it's got some fun attacks and is satisfying to play. Overall this game is pretty good, definite recommendation.
