I play fangames or stuff.
I try rating game compared to what they are trying to achieve rather than compared to fangames as a whole, and with knowledge of what you're getting into; If I rate a corridor needle game, I assume the person reading the review wants to play corridor needle, as if they don't they shouldn't bother playing it anyway. With that said, I tend to be very generous on needle ratings while being very skimpy on avoidances (although you likely won't see it as if I'd give it less than a 7 I just won't clear it instead).
with extremely rare exceptions, 9/10+ is reserved to games that have left deep emotional impact, while 10/10 is reserved for games I love unconditionally.
If I reviewed it and the review doesn't say otherwise, it's safe to assume I cleared it. I try adding my clears to df but I never really cared to keep track, so some might be missing.

About 10 screens of needle that lies between normal and L needle, with 4-7 saves per screen with a handful of precise but not ridiculous jumps. The jumps are for the most part non-generic thanks to using the flat side of spikes frequently as well as heavily relying on 8 (and sometimes even less) pixel grid placement. Most saves are roughly the same difficulty, however a few here and there are much harder, and they increase in frequency the further in you are in the game. The normal saves were insanely fun to execute thanks to using uncommon jump heights and being lenient enough that you wouldn't start thinking about jump heights in terms of frames, meaning that it was needle that relied very much on player's intuition and understanding of the physics rather than memorization and muscle memory for specific jump heights. The needle also incorporated good balance of jump heights as well as semi-precise weaves to create a good variety in the motions in each save which is further improved by the great flowing sequence. Unfortunately, each time a hard save came around the spell was broken: The flow halted, jumps devolved into frame numbers, each death became yet another waste of time trying to escape. I'm being overly dramatic here, but the point still stands, which is why I am not giving this over an 8. Maybe if I was a better player I'd enjoy it more.
While I generally don't really pay too much attention to the atmospheric side of things, especially in games that do not try to evoke a specific atmosphere, here I must make an exception. The game is very clean and simple visually, using the classic monochromatic blocks, backgrounds and spikes, all in complimentary colors. Still, it looks good, especially since most of the spike formations in the game are visually appealing. The music is a remix of Bach's prelude in C major, which is a pretty alright pick especially for needle. However, there's a pretty big issue: These are 10 screens worth of pretty hard precise needle, with a singular song and tile choice. The song especially drones on and on when played on repeat. This made for a monotonous, nearly asphyxiating atmosphere where no progress was felt and each screen was the same as the last. Adding another tileset (even if it was just a recoloring) and song in the middle would have helped alleviate that.
Overall though, the needle was superb for the vast majority of the game, and as I've said the atmosphere was also very solid. I'd definitely recommend this to more experienced needle players so long as they don't do it all in one session (I'd personally take a few days break inbetween sessions, but you can't change the past).

10 stages of roughly increasing difficulty, each containing a handful of warps leading to a room themed around a single jump, usually with a few variations, with the exception of the final stage where the warps contain 1 hard relatively unique jump. Has an extra stage which requires cancels; Otherwise I am fairly certain it can be cleared without any tech or any jump lower than a 2f (EX stage does require tech/cancels though). Saves are generously provided and there are no saveblockers, allowing you to cheese a few things as a result. The game shows your valign, x position, vspeed and amount of time shift was held, all completely useless as the game is not hard enough to warrant needing to look at your valign, aligns are more of a headache to derive from x position than it is to do relative calculations, and the two other stats are useless unless looked at mid-jump, something that is ill-advised. Overall a good way to kill 20 minutes.

1 screen of original needle followed by a few default engine rooms. This isn't a masterpiece of level design by any means, but it's mostly well-paced and kinda fun junk food needle with a great song and themed visuals. The two dickspike saves sucked but the rest was enjoyable. I'm fairly certain collision order is slightly fucked. There are a few spots where you need to 1f but afaik no lowcancels are required. a/d is provided which is helpful for final save. Overall not worth playing unless you have some external reason (such as roulette) but if you do then there are definitely worse games to play out there, as this is not an unenjoyable game.

Two moderate-length stages of slightly gimmicky needle. The first stage is Venus-inspired (hence the name) however the similarity is mostly superficial, with the needle itself using the linespikes to create unique obstacles rather than for a purely aesthetic purpose, using long saves of unique jumps over shorter generic ones. The second stage is a drop-heavy screenwrap stage that throws in gravity arrows halfway in and has very involved pathing. Unfortunately, this leads to very long saves that when combined with the high learning factor and a few jumps that are a bit too precise for this style can easily lead to some frustration. Still, both stages were a load of fun in their own right with very well-designed needle, and were different from each other and so despite the length of each of them they did not get stale. The game also features a very good (if a bit eye-hurting) save effect that modifies the visuals of the entire room that is already hosting a few high production value effects as well as top notch music choices. I'd easily recommend it to anyone not afraid of long saves, and I'm honestly surprised this has only 2 reviews at the time of writing this.

2 screens of Goner needle. A few neat saves but also quite a lot of generic precise jumps with no interesting twist, although they are mostly satisfying to perform and aren't too hard. Would recommend so long as you have proper expectations.
