Dedicated to everyone who's enjoyed my previous games, and especially to my playtesters.
The idea of Retrospective is that every stage is made in the style of one of my previous games, but not in a "reheating old food" kind of way, but rather in a "modern cover of an older hit song" way. You can expect a variety of gimmicks, needle, cycles, fruit and vegetables, and also a wide variance of difficulty between stages and inside each stage (estimate from low 50s to low 60s). Enjoy the ride!
--------------
v1.1 changelog
--------------
-Remade several sections in the first stage for multiple reasons: skip removed, clearer pathing, better balance, etc.
-Small changes in the second stage.
-Tiling fixed on the third stage, added sfx, small changes.
-Small changes in the fourth stage, removed skip, added sfx.
-Improved visuals and small nerfs in the final stage.
-Removed snap on tilted platforms in the final stage.
-Added extra Disrespect in the final stage.

ayaya
short and sweet jtool needle with nice and clean visuals
I enjoyed most of it save for a couple annoying water grabs
would recommend to newer players looking for a challenge, or more advanced players looking for a chill short needle game

Yet another banger from ebb, truly one of my favorite needle makers. I especially liked the light gimmick usage!
Edit: 100% clear. I'd add around 10 difficulty points, although not all extra stages are equally hard. I enjoyed most of the extra endgame, more details below.
I highly recommend the main stages to anyone, needle beginners in particular, and the extra stages to intermediate players looking for a challenge, or veterans who want some nice chill needle.
kym stage: overall good stage, except for one particular save that has a very obnoxious platform grab into water grab at the end. 60 diff.
jhoalk stage: excellent stage, very nice visuals and gameplay, cool pathing/trigger usage (the apple avoidance at the end seemed out of place though). 57 diff.
sfumatocannon stage: the difficulty comes more from figuring out the pathing than the execution; the two types of green platforms were a bit too similar, and there's a jump on the final screen I had to look up a video to be sure it was possible - the hints were very much appreciated! 57 diff.
om1 stage: Excellent stage, once again the difficulty comes more from the pathing than the execution; aign indicators were well placed. Very nice visuals as well. 60 diff.
ebb stage: absolute banger, nothing more to say. 52 diff.
masker (???) stage: I love me a good triple jump stage, and this is a good one for the most part, with cool pathing and jump refresher/water usage, but the last two saves have a very tight jump at the very end, which made them way more frustrating than it needed to be. 62 diff.

I'm not good at mspaint drawing, and despite that I had a lot of fun with the game; not only the creative self-expression side, of drawing your own sprites, but also the stellar level design, visuals, sound design, and a very approachable difficulty. I had a blast of a time playing this and would highly recommend it to any fangamer.
edit: extra stages are harder (low 50s) but just as good as the rest, epic final boss

Erik stole my line lol
Serious review: I had a lot of fun! Lesbian Burnmind really encapsulates it, but if you want more details, then here's what to expect: wacky platforming focused more on cycles, light gimmicks and enemies than needle, a medley stage, great bosses (on the easier side), unique visuals, epic gameplay advice, and a great final stage. The physics are close enough to classic fangame physics (not that it matters that much since you're not doing gates or anything), but you'll often be playing as alternate characters with different properties, which was very well implemented and a nice feature I wish more fangames had.
Highly recommended for any fangame player, and I think it also has a huge speedrunning potential. If I had to nitpick anything, the flying seekers could probably use a gentler intro, and there's a couple spots on final boss phase one where I felt unfairly walled, but overall it's an awesome game and it was a pleasure to experience.
