For: Needle needle
(Some fun saves, but nearly every save had one jump that simply infuriated. I also had a hard time seeing spikes in water, something that got me killed twice, which was quite irritating. Decent game nonetheless, though.)
For: I Wanna Take the L
Dono did good here. It's short, simple, easy, and above all fun. Some jumps were irritating (like the squished diagonal immediately into the normal one), other jumps I fucked over myself (like in the second save where I thought the water didn't refresh my double jump), and most jumps didn't take more than 5 tries. I had a good time, and I had a chill time. I'd recommend this one to anybody who wants to test their mettle against a simpler L-needle game.
For: I wanna be the Little runner
There are four stages and two bosses, two stages of trap-based platforming and two stages of needle. Throughout these fangames, you're given a pretty even spread of the fangame basics, though there's no vine platforming to be found here, nor any water. Nonetheless, this game does a great job of imprinting upon you the core principles of a fangame. The bosses too are decent, the first being a fairly run of the mill cherry boss, the second a more interesting avoidance/damage based rotten apple. It wasn't as cool as I was led to believe, but still decently cool for this small of a game.
I heavily recommend this to beginners and veterans alike, you veterans may be surprised to find it's fun even if you're way above its pay grade.
For: I Wanna Sertraline
Anyways, I really have no issues at all with Sertraline. The needle is all fun, how he utilizes water is quite interesting and enjoyable, and overall I had a good time with the game. It's not his best game, for that you'll have to take a look at the very good Matryoshka, but this is a very solid game nonetheless.
For: Not Another VVVVVV Game
Therefore, I'll settle for this:
Not Another V6 Game is a gimmick needleventure game utilizing the classic VVVVVV kid gimmick in unique and enjoyable ways through a combination of excellent needle and phenomenal pathing. Unlike VoVoVo, V6 Game is much more evidently inspired by VVVVVV. The mood of the game combined with the aesthetic and general attitude is severely reminiscent of those same facets one noticed while flipping through various rooms as Viridian. Speaking of VoVoVo, that raises the big question: how does this compare to VoVoVo? Well, it doesn't. Though the platforming is more or less the same, excluding the lack of mazes, they really are not comparable. VoVoVo is much more a fangame featuring VVVVVV gimmicks, while V6 Game is more like a VVVVVV fangame featuring fangame mechanics. Therefore, if you love VVVVVV as much as arzztt seems to, then you'll likely prefer this game over VoVoVo.
The game itself is broken up into three main areas with a fourth final area following them. You're meant to go around retrieving three tokens in order to unlock the door to the fourth area, and then you'll be treated to two stages within this final area, one focused on screen wrapping with the other focused on various gimmicks you encountered in the past such as moving killers, fast/slow air (you know, the green and yellow shit), and of course gravity flipping. Traversing these various areas is not supremely tough, though it isn't easy either. The difficulty is firmly in the middle, hard enough to be superbly satisfying to succeed while easy enough to never feel like a grind.
The biggest boon of an arzztt game is his little touches to make the gameplay just a bit more satisfying, something that I can't exactly describe here, but it's quite noticeable. It just feels better to play his games than most others. There's a little something in the design that makes you want to keep playing until the game is done, something that grabs hold of you and tells you "finish the game, you fool," making it almost difficult to truly appreciate the excellent quality of the game. Nonetheless, that quality is evident within every screen. There is not a scent of a fifth of an ounce of filler to be found here at all. NAVG is all killer, no filler.
Should I go on longer, I'll exhaust my thesaurus, so I'll just leave on this note: why are you reading this review? Why aren't you playing the game instead? Avoid not the siren's call, for what she brings is greater than anything you'll find here.
