longer mostly 32px consistency saves with some choke jumps if I remember correctly. the tileset is quite ugly and unpleasant to look at. other than that, it's of a decent length and doesn't drone on for too long. clearable within one sitting - it's one of those games you just kinda run through and forget

how not to make needle 101: tons of corners, diagonals, planes and other unfun jumps
a game that embodies generic spanish needle. the makers were so insanely lazy that they didn't even add sprites that fit the original games' sprites, they just used the same ugly generic spike sprite in every single room. when I say every room, I mean every room. this is a minor complaint but it just speaks to this game's laziness and uninventiveness. it whole purpose is to be a compilation of needle saves. not even full screens, just saves. this is like the needle game equivalent of those shitty vine compilations from 2015 youtube.
stylistic gripes aside, this game is structured in a very standard, basic and unchanged way, like every other generic medley game. 4 stages, 4 secrets, stage 5 is the guest stage. the secrets are somewhat interesting, but have the same gameplay as a bunch of screens from the stage the secret is from. they hardly feel like secrets considering how they're practically indistinguishable from the rest of the game in terms of gameplay. visually, yes, they're different, in the sense they're actual full screens, not just one half-assed save that was copied. what I find funny though, is that in initial versions of this game, every featured save was actually a full screen at some point. Sword Slinger made a video playing an old unreleased version of this game (v0.61), where stage 1 appears to feature a bunch of full screens that aren't just one save. it's like a completely different game, what happened to this version of the game? was it too fun? too good? too enjoyable? I don't get it, I really don't.
guest stages are lame, all 3 areas aren't very interesting or well-made to any sort of degree. lemon area sucks the most and sandsky is the hardest. I'll lump in true stage into this part of the review, as it comes after the guest stages and the subsequent end of the game in terms of progression. I guess it's one of the better stages, there's certainly better needle, considering it has a full CN1 floor as the last screen, and a really good CN1 floor at that. I'd go as far as to say one of the best CN1 floors considering it's part of the Needle Satan tileset, which I remember being really fun and enjoyable. the rest of it was just more standard-ish single-save crap which was like 5% more interesting than the other single-save crap before it. the L-game save they added was kinda cool, I guess.
not much to say other than disappointing and overall not great, don't play this

perhaps not the worst game, but not a very good one either. on account of how the game is quite uninspired and has a ton of generic needle and laughable bosses. this game feels very rushed and unpolished at times, a lot of stuff doesn't flow well and just doesn't mix into one game. the entire game felt just like one long and unpromising "just get past this and itll be over" segment
the game's difficulty is carried by the needle. the needle is quite difficult at times and never really dips above or below 70-ish due to the fact its mostly short saves. it's not that notable and just drones on for a while usually. the gravity flipping stage is quite fun though, that one had some interesting pathing and needle that I found quite fun. it's the best part of the game, likely since needle can be hard to hate at times. if you suspend your attention, this game's needle is entirely okay and livable
however, the bosses, while not being near the needle in difficulty, just sorta suck and don't make that much sense. what's odd is that the first 4 stages have no bosses, then suddenly some new area appears that's some dot hitbox barrage? this barrage, being Bric area, is the hardest boss in the game. you're just sorta thrown into this box with some lame RNG attacks to dodge for about two minutes. that's pretty much all there is to it, it's not that interesting but you can get fucked by the RNG quite easily as the bullets can randomly reverse direction and destroy you. with just a little bit of luck and some decent reading, the hardest area of this game can be passed just like that. Gemi area has some HP vocaloid boss (?) with the entire thing depending on how well you read pre-final and how well you do one of the early pattern. hitcount works by pure amount of bullets that hit you, not by invincibility frames. Littlepull area is likely the best boss, it's alright I guess, but the transition into the sphere attack can kill you for quite literally no reason and it's quite tilting when it happens. seriously, I cannot tell what is causing this to happen. is it the fading burst from the middle that somehow kills you because it doesn't fade out properly? who knows really, and I won't be the one to find out. happilous boss is just... weird.
the game looks remarkably ugly. I don't enjoy any of these visuals. they're either next to no visuals at all, or some stolen tiles and spikes that don't go together. effects are also distracting at times, like the line that follows everywhere you go, or the blocks that light up when you touch them
also there's secrets that are hilarious. you'll sorta see why, I won't spoil the reason but it's not a very big or interesting one. quite the opposite actually
long story short: entire game just seems sort of raw and unfinished, feels like a beta release of some more polished product from the distant future

fairly standard adventure-ish game with some interesting platforming, however some of the bosses and later stages are rather poorly designed. the invisible maze is rather bad and not fun at all, however not impossible
