For: I wanna be the Lizardmanmaster Remake
I wanna be the Lizardmanmaster Remake, as I said previously in my review about I wanna be the Lizardmanmaster, is I wanna be the Lizardmanmaster v.3.0 (reasons is written in that review too, so read it if you are interested about it). This game isn’t finished, which means it have only 2 stages and 2 bosses to play.
Before we look on the main stages worth of mentioning is just starting of the game, where we see “Lizamas production” title and very unique moving title screen, after, which we see some effects before save selection too. It already starts better than its original game! When we start the game, we will notice that first stage is Kirby music stage similarly like in original Lizardmanmaster! If you die, you will see custom game over appearing, and right after you will notice, that sadly game has restarts of music, right like original one. If the design of the stage is almost same asi n original one, then gameplay has some changes. Changes are, that we don’t have anymore invisble blocks maze, but we have spring traps, gravity changes, more water gimmicks and darkness gimmick. First stage in difficulty has some harder saves, on which you may stuck, but overall, if you understand what is going on, then it won’t take you too much time for sure. First boss of this game is final boss of the original Lizardmanmaster – Reshiram. This boss can look, like the easiest boss in the game, but strangely it took more time, than next boss. Still, it isn’t too hard and if you have played original game, then it will look even pretty easy, since platforms have same structure and only difference is in their speed. Next one what I want to mention is that this boss have multiple attacks, based on how many damage have you dealed to the boss at all (all bosses have 100 HP, and if in original you couldn’t see the healthbar, then now you can see healthbar very clearly). Attacks are mainly RNG or aim based, and those attacks are different spike attacks, so no more stepmania arrows! Overall, that was quite fun. Oh, and this boss has awesome soudtrack too!
Next stage is totally new stage, which wasn’t in original game. This is darkness world, where we see only with spotlight like in previous stage. Only new gimmick, which goes on is gimmick, where we have to avoid black kids, and if they see kid with the spotlight, then they shoot kid. It is pretty short stage as previous one, and in my opinion this is easiest stage. Now before we go to final boss I want to say, that if in original one it took me around 4 hours to get to final boss, then in this game it took me little bit over 1 hour. Last boss, which is the first boss of the original game – Zekrom. This boss felt even easier, than previous one, however was more fun to play. This boss have similar gameplay, like first one, only this one had one pattern attack in the beginning. Overall, not too hard if you can shoot fast enough, and for me it took like 15 minutes or so. After you beat that boss, you get to “Thank you for playing!” screen, which reminds, that this only beta version.
After this game so fast, I want to say, that it was very fun for me, didn’t felt as hard, as original one, and I would say, that it is very good remake to original game and I would recommend this game!
For: I wanna be the Lizardmanmaster
To start, I would like to make small note about corrently this game, and one rumor related to it. Rumor is that v.3.0 is original Lizardmanmaster, not the remake as it supossed to be. The main rumor was made, because around in 2015 in wasn’t added all the Lizardmanmaster, which existed in that time, and in that time there was only and page for remake was made only in 27th of June in 2016, and in that time, as I guess, officially only remake version could be downloaded, but for some reason it was named as remake, but just as Lizardmanmaster v.3.0. To explain, how to know that v.3.0 is supposed to be a remake? Well, in open internet the only evidence to it is on Lizamas blog and aiwanna wiki old posts, which shows date for almost all released Lizardmanmasters. It shows that remake was released on 27th of August in 2012. If you look at (old) aiwanna wiki posts, then we can find that in that date was released Lizardmanmaster update and for now that is only link which works, so we can open it, and we will see that it is Lizardmanmaster v.3.0, so we can make conclusion that it is Lizardmanmaster remake.
Now about the main game. I had started this game around in July, so I could make some mistakes about gameplay, but I hope I won’t mistake. How far I remember this game has 4 the main platforming stages and 5 boss stages in total. Before we start game, we can see that game was made in gamemaker lite, doesn’t have proper title name (title name is I wanna be the Engine Japan!) , doesn’t have “Lizamas productions” title and have static title screen, so the beginning of the game is totally the opposite than its remake. Now lets talk little bit about the main stages.
(WARNING!: Spoilers!)
The first main stage is basically Kirby music stage (restarting music tho), which shows us some invisble block mazes, traps and fact, that game doesn’t have saveblockers. If you think that it is the same as in remake, then sadly no. This version doesn’t have bouncy traps, gravity changes and other gimmicks. For the first boss we see green colored lizard (is it really lizard?), which name looks like is Zekrom. All bosses looks like have 100 HP, but this is one of the most simple from all bosses, since you don’t have to stay at the platforms all the time, because there are no spikes at the ground. You should only shoot carefully, since every dealt 1 damage, will summon one arrow (from stepmania?) from the Lizard, plus, you have to dodge randomly falling from the ceiling arrows too. Only this boss have bad surprise after the kill: it have one trap, so be careful!
Second stage is pretty much just basic needle, where you only have one new gimmick: spiked can move in cycles. It isn’t pretty hard tho, so it won’t take too much time. Boss for this stage is pretty much as easy, as first one, but here we have really strange flying monster, which flies all the time from up to down (if I remember correctly). The main gameplay isn’t very hard, and I really fast killed this boss. Only I remember, that this boss had other kind of gameplay.
Third stage isn’t very hard, however is pretty long. Gameplay I remember very badly, but it had connected worlds together and had more platform saves. The boss I remember smoothly tho! This isn’t really the boss, it is more like spike wall chase. To escape this boss you have to go all the time up and as further you get, as harder it gets. More at the end you will have fast paced platforms, and on last screen some traps. It was quite fun tho!
Last stage I remember very smotthly, since it was very specific and very different from other stages. It have 3 differently designed stages, which is connected together. This stage have higher difficulty too. Oh, and this stage is very special, since all of the stages has very good soundtracks. First part was place, where we have screen with goat, sound voltex and more stepmania arrows. First part has quite a lot tougher saves, which can make you angry, and especially 2 of the mini avoidances, where you have dodge very strangely stepmania arrows. Luckily you can skip second one, since it is very annoying, and have troll at the end. The more whimsical view on it, can bring the music, which is very catchy, but strange in the same time. Second part is just wow. It is part, where you have just basic design, purple background, but again new, but really catchy song in english! This part have basically just 2 screens, where you have to do one screen, but in the 2 ways. From down to up, and then oppositely – from down to up. Yes, idea is little bit banal, but is fun! Last part of the stage is puzzle based stage with 3 different puzzle screens, with catchy music by DJ Yoshitaka – Evans (soundtracks picture is also displayed in the background). These puzzles, with such great soundtrack, gave me ton of fun. Only fact, that music restarts is quite obnoxious. What we have after such a good stage? Yup, we have boss, which basically is the same boss as first boss, only here we have some differences: we have spikes on the ground, and now it is other lizard, which name I don’t know, we don’t have any troll at the end (only if you don’t die on the spiked by mistake as I did), and we have DJ Yoshitaka Evans soundtrack once more. I guess, if there wouldn’t be that soundtrack, I would be more frustrated, but luckily I have beaten pretty fast (around 30-60 minutes).
After we had beaten that boss, we have spawned in some sort of tower, and we see arrows, which shows, that we should go up. If we go upper and upper, we will see save and some portal, which leads to the screen, which tells that boss stage is incoming, as usually, only difference, is that above the name boss stage, we see from fruits made name “Last”. So here we go final boss of the game! But to say: Hallelujah! is too early. This is the hardest boss in the game, and probably for beginners it will make big frustration or just simple drop of the game. To make summary: I get to final boss like in 3-4 hours, last boss took me around 8.5 hours! This is Reshiram boss. Boss is quite different, than other bosses: it have other platform cycles and the highest platform is located lower than the highest platform in other bosses, which means, that in one go you can deal maximum 4 damage per “round” (except for the very beginning where you can deal around 7 damage). Maybe boss looks simple, but it can get really nervous, when you get further. This boss can be tough to learn cycles for the platforms, and to read properly, since the randomly falling from ceiling arrows can make walls for you if you won’t be too careful! Thing why this boss was still fun to play, was the music. Music is really good for the final boss, and can make good atmosphere even with such a simple gameplay. This boss doesn’t have any trolls at the end, and it even spawns not moving spiked, which means, that you can’t really choke after killing bosses. After that you have screen clear and soon after screen “Thank you for playing!” made from fruits.
To sum up, however this game used to be bad, and probably other people would give it 0 or 1 rating, I want to say, that it still have very interesting parts to play (for example stage 4), and even tho last boss can be frustrating, it is still very good experience to play, and yes, it isn’t great, it is most likely mediocre, but I personally think it is good game to challenge your patience and nerves, so look yourself if you want or not want to play it, even though in the first you should find it, which can be problem for someone. And in the last I want to say, that for the first game for this creator, it was ok, and it could be even worse, so make your own decisions about the game, but mine you can see in my given numbers!
For: I wanna be the Density
Right avoidance is sort of famous, since it was used in I wanna kill the Bric, as one of boss rush bosses. This avoidance I would consider as 2 different avoidances put together. The first part can make confusing effect to those, who knows what avoidances have Sasanoke and how qualitative are they. It is more based on gameplay, than effects, however it have some pretty neutral effects, which won’t make harder the main gameplay. The main problem for this part, is that it is RNG based, and can make walls pretty easily. Until I haven’t see the second part of avoidance, I have doubts was it really Sasanoke’s avoidance, but when I got to second part, I hadn’t any doubts anymore. Second part is a lot easier than first part, and looks overall better. I somehow managed to first try whole second phase, and after that phase, I was astonished about avoidance, and had very good impression from it! And music for this boss was very good too! And agaist my expectations this avoidance took me just like ~ 1 hour or so!
Left avoidance is sort of famous of its effects. This avoidance I enjoyed more, however from some effects, you couldn’t focus properly on avoidance too. This avoidance probably have only one little bit unfair attack, which was yellow RNG fruit phase, where you have to dodge fruits, which have strange patterns, but are randomly generated, which makes a lot harder to read it. Overall, this is really good avoidance, which is really worth to mention and to play. And this avoidance is harder too, than right one (this took me like 4 hours).
This game doesn’t have any victory screen, but it is really worth of playing fangames, which avoidances can be interesting to play for everyone (even for players with lower skill, like me). Definitely, I would like to recommend this game for everyone, especially for those, who are into games with cool effects and visuals!
For: I wanna be the colorful life
This is very nice, pretty long and pretty old chinese game. It consists itself from 8 different stages, however to unlock last stage, you have to beat other 7 stages in any order you want.
Stage 1 is pretty long (~ 5 minutes) avoidance, which was also used in the boss rush of I wanna kill the Bric . If we talk about avoidance, then I can say, that in my opinion it is the best part of the game. Avoidance is pretty easy to get into, but it also have very nice sync with music, interesting to learn patterns and very nice attacks at all and for me very nice background, however I know, that a lot of people hate this background, because for them blue and white background hurts their eyes, but again, for me everything was ok in this case, and I really had ton of fun in this avoidance, which is surprised me, since I didn’t waited to have such fun with avoidance! Maybe I would only wanted from avoidance, that, first, it wouldn’t be like in the first stage, because it is pretty strange to have only one avoidance in the whole game, which is in the beginning of the game (if it would be in the end of the game, it would be really awesome!), second, that there would be less attacks, where you just stay in front of wall, and, third, for one of the figures in the middle of the avoidance, I would put less speed of the rotation, but those are just details, but whole concept of avoidance was very good and fun to play too. With that said, this is very cute and awesome avoidance, which gives high advantage to the whole game.
Stage 2 is stage, which have basic needle, without any really special jumps, but also it haves relaxing music and okay tileset. Only disadvantage is, that music for some stages glitch out, which means, that it doesn’t restart, and you have to go to the title screen and rego to your savefile, after what, you can hear relaxing music once again.
Stage 3 is basically trapland, which actually creator made pretty well (better than needle stage), because traps was fun to find and learn how to avoid them. Stage has very suitable music and overall very fun to play!
Stage 4 is boss stage. This boss is delicious-fruit, which have 8 different attacks (every attack, have its color of the rainbow), from which some are pattern based (like lightblue attack) and some can have pretty bad RNG (like red or yellow attack). Boss have fair ammount of HP, and if you kill him, then boss doesn’t end, because after that it have one more phase (black phase), where you have to survive small amount of time, while screen is shaking. The main problem here is unfair RNG or screen shaking. This boss strangely doesn’t have music, but even that, doesn’t make boss boring, because it was still very fun to learn! By the way, interesting is fact, that actually you can complete boss very easily if you play only darkblue attack, since it is aimed attack, which ends if fruits get hit in the wall or ground, but if you go carefully you can make them not get hit by wall, but again I haven’t tried to skip the boss, so I haven’t tested if it actually works, so if it doesn’t work, then sorry.
Stage 5 main gimmick is needle with green balls, which have one trajectory. It doesn’t make stage too hard, however is interesting to find proper timing for some saves. And similarly like other stages, this stage have awesome music in the background!
Stage 6 is probably one my favourite platforming stages. It have very interesting gimmick- purple stage, where you have spotlight only around kid. This gimmick gives for stage some puzzlish feeling, because you should find out where to go and where not to go. It have also nice tilesets and textures, and interesting jumps (some are harder to do) and very appropriate music too.
Stage 7 is needle stage with touchable button gimmick. This is the hardest stage in the game, but it isn’t too hard or too annoying. It have more unusual jumps or tracks to go. This stage have interesting blue background, but outlines of objects change their colors (in the whole rainbow spectre), which can look similarly like in I wanna Sunspike. Even tho it is the hardest stage in the game, only last save can take little bit longer than other saves, so it won’t be too hard to complete. This stage have quite relaxing music too, so it won’t be annoying stage at all.
Stage 8, which is the last stage in the game, is some kind of easy stage rush and memory stage, where you have to beat 3 screens, which have 2 world gimmicks (there are 3 choices: stage 2 and stage 5 screen; stage 3 and stage 5 screen; stage 6 and stage 7 screen). Screens itself aren’t very hard to beat, since difficulty doesn’t really change much (for stage 6 and stage 7 it makes even easier, because you can skip second save actually). Interesting fact is that all stages have black and white design, and have one soundtrack, which really fits for some reminiscene stage. And after this stage you have unlocked “Thank you for playing!” screen.
To sum up, this is really great game, which have so big variety of stages, musics and different tilesets. And for every stage, you can see, that creator really tried to make this game even better (especially in the stage 1 and stage 8). Yes, game have its bugs and disadvantages, like bug with music, strange bug, where you can’t start new savefile 2, no music for stage 4 and other things, but, still, I really enjoyed this game, and if you can find it, then I highly recommend it for anyone, because it have amazing avoidance and very nice and enjoyable platforming stages, and if you are beginner, then this game can improve your skill too! Even though there are quite a lot of people who dislike avoidance or some other things, I still disagree with them and that is why I highly recommend it for everyone!
For: I wanna be the Rain
This is game, which was started in 2015, but was dropped later and after ~2 years pokepure updated it. With that I mean, that I played it on version 1.1.
This is very unique story-adventure game, which have 5 chapters to beat, and if you want to get true end, then you have to get 4 secrets (which locations are easy to guess, however if you can't guess, then look in folder with unreadable signs, there is screenshots of locations, where are secrets, but I would recommend to find them by yourselfs). All game is on japanese, so it is complicated to get story, because the most of times, you will have to PrtSc and then convert it to translate, or if you will have text boxes, then text will have unreadable signs, which can't be translated, and for this game the main thing is story, which gives atmosphere. But I don't say, that without story, I didn't enjoy it, I really liked music, gameplay, visuals, finding secrets and other interesting concepts. Game has annoying death sound, but it doesn't make game bad, it is still very fun and interesting to play, and that is why I give it so high mark, but still, I would really like if someone will make english translation (or pokepure), because it is pretty sad, that I can't understand the main story. But still I would recommend this pretty easy game!
