For: I wanna be the Pacemaker
I should say honestly, why I started to play this game. Originally, I always was unaware about this game. I have seen it sometimes on Twitch, but it also seemed very hard for me.The only real reason, why I started it was because of unexpected clear of I wanna be the Plasma, which gave motivation to risk on trying this game out. Even more bravery on checking this out gave me the ratings given for this game. And what is even more, the ratings given by avoidance players, whom I would dare to call as very 'skilled' or even 'professional' ones. AndresSgarrido - 50; Vengevine - 39; Ramirus (on his avoidance list) - 53 (and I think that before update rating was 51) and creator - Nogard - itself - 60. Everything seemed pretty fine and I actually believed that nothing can go wrong, even though I was quite afraid of this avoidance. Well, actually something went wrong.
Avoidance itself is only around 2 minutes long and consists of quite little amount of different attacks. Quite long and easy intro, following attack with falling arrows and fast bursts, which are hard to read, then random orbs going from all sides, fast arrows, which slows speed with time, but which also adds density, then again random orbs, finale, which is pure RNG, but, luckily, slows speed with time and then post-finale, which can be quite unfair, to be honest. Also in avoidance you have ability to infinite jump and dot hitbox.
Now question is how did avoidance go for me and did I like this short, clearly trial-and-error avoidance? Answer is that it went oppositely than I expected. It was 11+ hour experience (https://prnt.sc/qh996v), which is around as much, as the hardest avoidance (for me) of I wanna be the Tune took me at the end. Death count is 1689, which is exactly as much as I wanna revenge the snow avoidance took me. The only difference is that avoidance in I wanna revenge the snow I have beaten in 8 hours, and my personal state was quite different. I first tried finale, but died on post-finale, somewhere around 2 hours or so it had taken me. After that I died on the beginning of the finale like 10 times? And other attacks gave me some real trouble. Everything started from second attack, which for me seemed very hard due to speed of the arrows. Maybe I read it incorrectly, but it was painful to die there and then all the time to replay intro, which is very easy. The next attack wasn't much easier. I only got better on it on the day, when I beat avoidance. I guess the spinning thing around orbs, which doesn't kill, gave me confusion and made it harder to read. But, I guess, the most painful was the next attack, in which maybe first 2 rays are not as hard as they could be, but when you have to read 3 of them, then it gets really hard, and I changed my strats all the time, ending up staying to the ground as much as possible. Also bouncing was quite annoying, and I am not even talking of how frustrating it was to die on finale. Luckily, I second-tried post-finale, and now I am free from this avoidance. But, here is the most interesting thing. This avoidance felt special, when I played it. While playing it, I wished to find more similar avoidances. It was simple in everything. Simple design, simple visuals, simplistic audio synchronisation and attacks themselves were actually simple. Avoidance was made as some kind of 'Spanish meme', but except 'Thank you for playing!' screen, I didn't find anything Memem-ish here, so that is reason, why I am not giving it tag 'Meme'. But here hides another thing, about which I mentioned at the very beginning.
I really couldn't make me playing anything else, except this game. I knew, that it shouldn't be as hard, as it felt for me, but I still had feeling that I am playing bad, that I couldn't beat it, so I couldn't get me playing any other hard game more than for 30 minutes, otherwise I was frustrated. Playing easy games I didn't want, since I wish to stuck with 50+ games for a while (at least, I am trying to). And when Nogard said, that this is easy avoidance, it gave me quite more of dark mood.
I am not complaining to anyone though. Dark moods can be for anyone, but they sometimes open something more in our minds than we can imagine. While playing this game, I had many times rethought about my life, about what I am doing correctly or incorrectly. I was more thinking on how to deal with my problems in real life, or just acknowledging that something is wrong. It seems whimsical and crazy, but it just gives a reason, to think about, let's say cliché phrase - 'the meaning of life'. After having several frustrating moments, while playing the game, I had made some conversations with my family in these days and many thoughts too. And even though they may seem quite depressing or 'dark', I still feel that maybe I have done something correct, and maybe even understood something more. I even could do at least some things, which I was procrastinating, just because I didn't want to play anything. And what is even more crazy is that it is almost the end of 2019! It really gives me good feeling, that I left all dark stuff and memories in the past, and that I am motivated to find light sparks in the future, symbolically, in 2020. And, I believe in that.
In conclusion I would like to emphasis, that I may be bad player and that my difficulty rating is way too off the place, but I feel that I should say my opinion, and, yes, I totally believe that I may change it after some time, but for now, I would like to keep it as high, as I see it in my eyes, and for me it seemed as harder avoidance, than some others, requiring higher skill to clear it. But, I can truely suggest it if you are confident in your attainments to have fun and not getting dark though shades, as I had, even though maybe that is what you want? Anyway, I know that this may sound silly and childish and that you can have such a thoughts in every game, but I actually do not care much about it, I just told you my story and that is all, since this felt for me like special game, where I felt that, and, overall, I tried to make my review more original in the end of this year. Is it interesting or chaotic you decide.
Thank you Nogard for making this game and thank you if you have read this far!
Will end my 'stream of consciousness' with short verdict: Would probably recommend.
For: I Wanna Hold and Relieve +
Basically the same thing as with I Wanna Hold and Relieve, except that this time avoidance is not based on I wanna go the DotKid!red Miku, but on I Wanna Kill The Kamilia 3 DotKid Miku. It has the same sprite and avoidance attacks looks very similar to it. Not sure is it identical or not, but if it is remade, then it is very well-done, at least it looks like as it would be original. Every color fruit has different timed from I Wanna Hold and Relieve, and some behaviours are changed. Purple fruits can be avoided pretty easy as if they was pure aiming, but light-blue fruits are curving. Mostly I tried somehow to understand on my own how this thing works and what are the best strats for me. I should start that avoidance starts at the bottom, not the top platform. Basically, after long trials and errors, I found out that it is convenient to jump at the start on third platform or so, fall down, rejump and when starts purple circles, then just carefully go right. After purple circles stops, then I continued to go right and when I was close enough to Miku, I jumped and avoided green fruits and started to go left. As you go purple circles will start bursting, but I just carefully go left. The final thing is the hardest one. You have to somehow jump and then go right as the chaos of 3 colour fruits are going on. Sadly, light-blue fruits can give walls every time, so it is really annoying and hard to read them, and mostly when I went right, I was going blindly with hopes that I won't be killed. If you survive that chaos, then after purple circles stop, then try to go to the left and survive the last seconds of the avoidance, be sure not to die to the last purple circles, which shoots alone like in I Wanna Hold and Relieve. If you do everything correct, then after last purple circles Miku disappears and you can collect Miku's figurine and can go to the portals, which this time teleports you to this room - https://prnt.sc/qfi776, and if you look on menu, then game saves your figurine and is going to tell that game is cleared. So at least this game was better programmed. Also thanks PDPlayer for the game in title, and not the engine's name like in I Wanna Hold and Relieve, because otherwise I would be really confused is this game I Wanna Hold and Relieve + or I Wanna Hold and Relieve ++, since .exe for some reason is called I Wanna Hold and Relieve ++, but on title there is still written I Wanna Hold and Relieve +, so I will stick to that. Also, the only thing which for some reason is not here from I Wanna Kill The Kamilia 3 is the option of circle around kid. For some reason PDPlayer though that there is no need of that. Which basically means that most likely you will lose kid from your sight, however it will still be alive if you go all the time left or right. Kind of funny, I have to admit, since it is like I expected in I Wanna Hold and Relieve, but there purple circles worked a little bit differently.
With that being said, I have to say that this game is technically better done and for me was more fun to pay than its predecestor I Wanna Hold and Relieve, even though I think I Wanna Hold and Relieve + has less amount of PDPlayer's original implementations than I Wanna Hold and Relieve, but even if it is so, I won't lower rating. Talking about difficulty, I rated it lower than for I Wanna Hold and Relieve, mainly because I found that this game easier to clear once you know good strats. If here you can go left or right, mainly concentrating on aimings and praying for good RNG on light-blue, then on I Wanna Hold and Relieve it wasn't as easy to control everything, and it was harder, at least, in my opinion. But, still, I am giving high enough difficulty just to find good strats and for the fact that you still have to read everything to actually clear avoidance. Would recommend if you like these kind of avoidances or if you think that you want and you are ready to gain more experience for I Wanna Kill The Kamilia 3.
For: I Wanna Hold and Relieve
My first actually cleared game made by PDPlayer. It is relatively short avoidance, which is basically 'Outrage' attack from I wanna go the DotKid! It uses same style Miku sprite and same fruit behaviour, mainly, you can conclude that from light-blue fruits which are going straightly to the left. However, I felt that it is actually buffed from original. Of course, I haven't played original, but comparing with video everything looks a little bit faster. Still, I will rate everything just from what I have experienced in this game. I have to say that this was really tough. I always thought that this in these kind of bosses, you just have to randomly do something and relatively slowly move left or right. That wasn't as easy. You have to all the time read stuff. And praying for good RNG won't help much, even though you most likely won't clear this avoidance if you don't have any. You have 3 kind of fruit behaviours, and you have to manage each of them. Green fruits are straightly aiming ones, purple are aiming circles, light-blue straight trajectory fruits. Green fruits you can always freely survive if you are not standing on one spot for all the time. For purple circles the only objectively good strategy is to move from right to left, otherwise it is a hell. Light-blue fruits is pure RNG, so good luck with that. Basically, I tried to do what people I think do on I Wanna Kill The Kamilia 3 speedruns, except that you start at the beginning on the ground (since it is where avoidance starts). I move as far on right as I can, and when purple circles start to spawn I try to go left with carefully overjumping obstacles. At the end I jump on the left side of the screen and try to move right again, after purple circles start to spawn, I go left and do same jumping maneuver if I do not have a wall. Then I have to go right to survive third purple circles, however it is very tough to go right, in most of situations you will have walls, but you will have a little bit easier situations with purple circles. After you survive the third purple circles you have to dodge everything on left and not to die on last purple circles which are coming themselves without following green and light-blue fruits, which makes fourth explosion a little bit easier. Luckily, after that avoidance ends and you can collect Miku's figurine and go to right, but, oh well, you will meet with this: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/477060772967481344/659152091838939157/clear.jpg. I guess, you can count that as a clear.
Not sure why PDPlayer made this at first place. I guess those were some kind of practice tool, which he himself said (I won't post proofs due to privacy, but if you really want to see, I can show you in personal messages), even though that is quite surprising and not usual thing to see from him. Anyway, I can say that this avoidance, in my opinion, is really great introduction to Dotkid mechanics, even though insane ones. If you can clear this, then you most likely will understand what to expect in the future if you play these kind of games, and, of course, it is good to raise your skill in such kind of random avoidances, in my opinion. Also, for some reason, I had fun with this game, even though it was hard to play and I many times lost kid from my vision due to lack of circle or square around the kid.
If you for some reason have this game and if you are ready for some insane content incoming, then I would actually recommend this avoidance. Also I think it is a good practice tool for I wanna go the DotKid! and other similar games, so if you are OK with such kind of indirect practice 'tools', games or call it as you wish, then I also can suggest this avoidance.
For: I wanna be the Christmas Present
Based on clearing extra, wait what?
Warning! Review includes spoilers!
Yes, you didn't mishear, this game has optional content. This is the reason why I am going to write full review of the game, since nobody except Gogibestyeah has mentioned that there is more than one route of the game, but he didn't explain how to get to it. Also I guess it was the intended way to play the game, since this game itself is an extra to I wanna be the Ultimate hero. Why, I will explain later.
If you look on this game only as to game to play once on medium difficulty, then this game is extremely short. It consists from 2 saves, which both has some timings and traps at the end of saves. Also it has restarting music. After that there is boss, which for the first time is very annoying. It is snowman which basically has 3 attacks and you have to be good in mashing to achieve success. You can see that especially on the first attack. And everything would be fine if you didn't need to break ice spikes on the second attack, which is really hard and can get really annoying too. Second attack is more or less acceptable, however third attack is just a catastrophe to pkaying blind. Like, how, in the world, I should know that I have to dodge everything in the corner? It isn't obvious at all... This boss itself isn't as easy as many people here are rating. It really isn't, even though beating it twice and more times will be a lot easier. Yes, after you beat the game once, you gain a present. After what you are going to be teleported to the portal room, where you will see that above medium difficulty there is a present. After beating each difficulty you will gain bigger and bigger presents, and your goal is to beat game 4 times. The game remains the same, maybe except for the Snowman, which on Impossible looks ike has more HP for second and third phase, but maybe I am wrong. And, yes, basically hard mode removes save before boss, very hard remains with the first save of the game, but impossible removes every save. ALso you have to watch credits 4 times too, for some reason. I don't know why the passage couldn't be more interesting, but fine. Also #GalaxyBrain.
After that starts, ironically, the best part of the game. The game suddenly has simple, but story with dialogue boxes. Extra consists from short platforming segment, which isn't anything too special, and from the boss, which is the best boss of the game. Boss is quite long and probably harder than Snowman boss, but in the same time, it is A LOT more fun to play. It has complicated structure, so that you won't even understand what kills boss and what does not. I liked gameplay idea of the boss, since it consists of several different attacks in which you can deal extra damage to the boss if you shoot correctly, after what boss drops on you snowman blocks for you to easier shoot the boss. Everything ends up being very long experience, and sometimes you will notice you will forget about some things, especially, when snowman blocks are going to fall down. Even though for many attacks you can stand in corner, it does not mean that you won't die there, you still have to do dodge.
If you beat the boss, then boss will congratulate the player and will give a hint to move savefile to the I wanna be the Ultimate hero directory. I tried to do that, and actually iot worked, accessing really powerful weapon, as game tells (https://prnt.sc/qfaofn), which is really nice, and I found it very fun thing, which mean sthat both games gets extra points, for originality!
Now the thing is that we have to make a summary of this game. Basically, this, I guess, this game exists as some kind of 'DLC' or somehow related to I wanna be the Ultimate hero (this is the reason for using this tag). This means, that I would rather think that this game unlocks extra features to original game for clearing extra, rather than this was intended to be cleared only once on medium mode. Also, it is more worth of doing game in that way, since extra final boss is really fun one. I mean, the way extra unlocks is really silly and can get really boring. At least, Snowman is more fun doing second time, but I don't think it really helps much. This is the reason, why I am troubling to rate this game properly. I think I will end up saying, that I would recommend this game if you are ready to beat mediocre content to access fun part of the game or if you want to have easier time (?) on I wanna be the Ultimate hero, however if you are like majority here, who are mainly playing the game once on medium difficulty, then maybe better to skip this one, otherwise it is going to be a disappointment.
For: I wanna White christmas
YoYo's very old game, which was made for Christmas 2012. Surprisingly it has preserved pretty well through these 7 years, and among many other games it does not look horrible at all. It is very short, consisting from several rooms, which has winterish visuals and different kind of gimmicks. Does not have any kind of background soundtrack, but somehow it didn't feel like anything missing due to its shortness. At the end there is one avoidance with Miku, kind of Christmas-like, I guess. It is pretty classic YoYo's style avoidance with mostly classic attacks or generic ones, call as you wish. Nothing impressive, nor really annoying. Maybe the end is quite unobvious and can be reason for several deaths, unless you know beforehand, that better not to stay at the wall. Still, it didn't ruin my Christmas mood (did I have one?), but I doubt it can make one too. Would recommend if you have minutes to spare.
