For: I wanna be the Spinal fluid
As you can tell from other reviews needle in this game is pretty short and works as an introduction to the avoidance. Except this introduction is pretty horrible. This needle has 3 screens, but manages to fail its creativity momentarily. Gameplay is mostly generic. Music is restarting. And thing about nobody talks about – game has 3 screens but you can skip half of screen 2 and the whole screen 3 just by doing 'sphincter' or 'double diamond' skips. Why game even has platforming if it is there just because it can? I do not know too.
Endurance itself is a mix bag, not gonna lie. Avoidance already at the beginning manages to mess up everything with unnecessary 7 second long introduction of shaking fruit cutscene and black background. Just after that you have to read directly shot fruits, which curves later on. And to be ready for the next attack, you have to be on the platform while dodging those fruits. It is not difficult for the most part, but you can die pretty easily if you have bad RNG.
Later on you will have to face patterns which require heavy-learning, and RNG which requires heavy-reading and some luck too.
Patterns are pretty fun if you know what to do. I used SUDALV starts and I can recommend to use them if someone do not understand the right movements (only on this part -[url]https://youtu.be/po4rtoEh_Jo?t=46[/url] – I recommend not to jump on the platform. You can trigger aiming just by jumping in the air without landing on the platform. It is actually harder, in my opinion.) .
RNG is simply questionable. I liked several attacks and I even managed to first try somewhere around 30-40 seconds, getting pretty acceptable random. But why it is still questionable? The problem is that this RNG can give very difficult or maybe even unreactable situations. I saw it myself and I heard from SUDALV complaints that the last burst gave him very hard situations many times.
I liked ideas behind this avoidance. It is pretty dynamic and feels fun at some point. Avoidance does not feel generic and that it why it is fun to play. The problem is that when you meet with 'the Great Wall of China' from fruits, then it is annoying and frustrating.
I am not sure whether I liked it or not after clearing it. Needle was a joke. Avoidance had great potential and had several good parts. But I am not sure that modern avoidance players would find this game amazing or unique.
I tend to say that I would recommend it, but be aware, that game is not amazing or anything like that. It is simply fine. If you are OK with it, then sure, try it out. Otherwise, I am afraid you are going to be disappointed.
For: I wanna celebrate Altale Fuduki
I wanna celebrate Altale Fuduki originally was made in November 14th 2016 and looks like was public on author's twitter (or was given directly to particular players) . In three day period there were released several clear videos, including pyuw's (Cat Endure's), sunbla's and plynq's (unlisted) . And then for some reason there were almost no videos at all of this game for several years. I have seen zero's video in 2019 and that is it. I guess game got private pretty quickly for some reason.
And yet game got now its popularity due to release of FSR avoidance, where it was included with non-official link.
Since game was included in gold category of FSR avoidance, I decided of beating this game (I have played it for around 20 minutes around a year ago, but I played blindly and without real goal to beat it. I dropped on fast blue pattern in the small room) .
Avoidance uses song 'Altale' and is around 3 minutes long. It is going to be pretty easy to recognize snow's style for players who have played at least some of snow's games. And yet this game manages to be different than many other author's games.
Firstly, I do not recognize many times when snow would try to experiment with different room layout. This time you teleport from standard room to smaller one and then back to standard with small additions later on.
Secondly, visual effects actually are surprising. Beautiful colour choice for background effect changes and colours for fruits. Cool 3D rotating effect. And, yes, I know that it is used in I Wanna Break The Series Z 3 Sasanoke area, but, hey, that does not make it automatically bad, OK?
Thirdly, gameplay seems simple, but it does not feel generic or wrong, it fits perfectly in the game. And more importantly: author actually balanced RNG attacks so that they are pretty fair and won't make player both much about them. That is especially important for such type of attacks like bouncing and last curving. Maybe patterns seem confusing, but in reality they are not so hard or precise at all. Requires some learning, but nothing too serious. Getting up on blocks on one attack seems scary, but I guess it is OK? Oh, and yeah, final attack looks questionable though. Those curving fruits can give a trouble. But, still, I cleared this avoidance 2 times and that attack never killed me, so maybe it is actually OK.
I actually wished that this game has better music synchronisation in the beginning, as well as, different type of the first attack. I had feeling that I am missing something and that something is wrong. Not that is a big problem, it looks fine, but I had feeling that I wanted something to be different.
Also I am confused why this game has so whimsical audiovisual choice for title screen. It does not make any sense. It has very active soundtrack with title screen which gives impressison that there is going to be some barrage in this game. I guess black colour and title's font could be different.
Anyway, I had fun with this game. I am glad that I suggested to add this game in FSR avoidance, and that I had time to play it. It is not annoying and is a good game even on second playthrough. Again, I do not know why snow never released this game on wiki. This avoidance is amazing, I have to say.
Highly would recommend to any avoidance player.
P.S. Shoutouts to IgorbSV! He was the real reason why I suggested this game to FSR avoidance. IgorbSV tested many games I gave him to try, and he was very positive towards this game. I was surprised, but I took that in mind. And after almost a year I remembered about this game. Pretty funny, have to say.
For: I Wanna Garuda
I kind of wish that this avoidance would have better audio visual synchronisation. Some flashing effect looks cool and finale visualisation is pretty good. The parts where you have 'no jump' gimmick felt a little bit too empty, although it was pretty fun to read, because fruit movements were unpredictable (not unfair though, I think) and you had to think up where it could be safe to stay.
At first, this avoidance seemed questionable, but I actually started to like it pretty quickly. I cleared it in around 40 minutes, getting lucky in the last section of the avoidance to first try.
Overall, it is pretty much it. Do not have much more to say, except that I liked it.
Would recommend if you have a good mood for trial and error avoidances.
For: I wanna be the Frustration
I found out about this avoidance in July 15th 2020 if I recall correctly. It was less than a week before FSR avoidance was announced.
I was on Naztore's stream. He got bored after a grind Supernal Beings (I think) and I suggested him a 'Avoidance roulette' . Naztore agreed.
And so after few rolls, we got to this game. I said Naztore that I do not recognize this game. Just a random avoidance game made by pretty unknown creator.
It was a short needle game which I cleared in 1 minute, but Naztore like in 5 or so. Needle has generic restarting guy rock and generic jumps with unfitting visuals.
It seemed OK until we saw avoidance.
We looked pretty quickly to the video and streamer Naztore concluded that it looks too hard for him. I said that it looks pretty fine in difficulty, however, quality was very generic to try it out. I couldn't imagine that I will return to this game after some time...
Yes, FSR avoidance included this game in gold section.
So I decided to try this avoidance out.
And, that was something horrible... Generic, uninspired, unfair, unbalanced and uninteresting Miku fight.
Short description:
1. Easy start with easy RNG and introduction to colourful fruit aiming which is not gonna change through the whole avoidance.
2. Geometrical progression from 3 random bursts -[url]https://youtu.be/C_024qPN6KA?t=42[/url] . First burst is free, second one is readable and third one is unreadable.
3. Several random attacks which now are harder. Nothing too special.
4. Uhm, what is this? [url]https://youtu.be/C_024qPN6KA?t=76[/url]
5. OK, but quite weird bouncing.
6. Green and yellow attack which is the only more or less fun attack. Yet it is very stressful one, especially, when you have to read white bouncing.
7. Pretty tough curving + bouncing.
8. [url]https://youtu.be/C_024qPN6KA?t=117[/url] – green bursts are random. Also: this is hard.
9. Reminiscence of the beginning. Do not forget to trigger aiming correctly!
Why this avoidance is uninspired and uninteresting?
1. Author did not bother about visuals. He uses same visuals he used for the needle. Seriously. Using some shiny balls in the avoidance does not make it good.
2. When you pray to not get wall, you can conclude that something is wrong with avoidance.
3. Visuals and colour set in grey does not help either with the music. It just gets in nerves after some time.
This game was supposed to be a birthday present for snow. I do not know did he like his present or no, but I can say that I would dislike it. These 2.5 hours were just a pure pain and frustration all over the place.
I know that tastes are different, but I highly doubt that there are many people who would like this avoidance. It is not easy and is not fun to play. I had played some unfun and very hard avoidances in many games. But even worst avoidances in 2011 game like I wanna be the Goshi Barrage II seemed more entertaining and original than this one avoidance. And this is 2015 avoidance, I would like to notice your attention. I just cannot believe that this was taken for FSR avoidance...
Well, at least now I have become a 'frustration' . Cool.
Highly would not recommend.
For: I wanna be getting higher and higher
I wanna be getting higher and higher starts with short joke screen in which kid can destroy all spikes except for the last gate jump. You expect this game to be funny trap game? Well. You are wrong. This is avoidance game. Trial and error avoidance.
In this fangame, as you can tell, kid's goal is to getting higher and higher. However, for the sake of originality author modulated kid's journey getting up and down all the time.
At the beginning you are at the ground level, a little bit later you will have to get up, then down and at the end kid will be so tired from travelling, that he will decide to go up with infinite jump.
While kid is having good time in climbing, the screen visuals are changing too. It gets darker and brighter, faster and slower, more fair and unfair... Well, that is a different story. In short, kid is going to have a fun time. Except it is not fun at all.
Creator of this avoidance forgot that having dynamic gameplay is not equal of having fun and fair gameplay. Some attacks are literally free aiming or RNG attacks. And, in contrary, there are ton of unfun RNG attacks, which can give questionable RNG. Especially, I was not a fan of RNG in the first phase, as well as when you at finale have to go down and soon after up with an infinite jump. My apologies, but you just have to pray that fruit is not going to hit into kid's face. Also locus-like attack going down is actually hard to perform correctly. Inter allia, why there is a pattern after RNG star attack? You do not have much space to dodge in the middle.
Of course, there are fun attacks like this star and green fruit pattern -[url]https://youtu.be/4HfS0f9jjyE?t=123[/url] – and I was OK with these fruits -[url]https://youtu.be/4HfS0f9jjyE?t=109[/url] – but I was unpleasantly surprised by many RNG attacks. Avoidance took me almost 3 hours and I expected to have fun time as other players. And yet I was disappointed.
This endurance could be great despite its simpleness. However, in the current state avoidance feels very unbalanced and totally not fun unless you got lucky. I disliked this mix of generic boring attacks and interesting but too fast to react fruits. I am not saying it is too bad, because despite everything I had some fun with locus-like attack and reading crazy RNG was a pleasure. But those are few attempts. Most of time I felt irritation and dissatisfaction. Moreover, this game was in my plans before FSR avoidance project, since I thought that this game is fun. I was wrong. It is not easy and is not really worth of your time, unless you are god in avoidances to pass through quickly enough to not notice bad parts of this avoidance.
Would not recommend.
