For: I wanna be the Cavalry
I wanna be the Cavalry is one of the relatively older games made by Corrupt. It follows similar principle as his last (at least on the moment of writing this review) game – I wanna be the Strange – , i.e, making game, which consists of several needle screens followed by avoidance. Very classic nothing to judge or add. The real thing starts when we get to the gameplay. There are 4 screens of needle, and I will try briefly as I can, to characterize them and to give my opinion about them.
As you start you will notice upbeat song used with woody background and woody-like blocks. It looks fine for the eyes. In this 'section' there is nothing to complain about. Gameplay is questionable though. First screen has one interesting trap on first save. Everything else consists of pretty standart jumps, including squished diamonds and gates. Repetitive jumps felt a little bit annoying on 2nd save, and I find third and fourth save placement very bizarre, but fine, nothing that can really upset much.
Second screen looks a little bit more original. It was a little bit fun, except for unnecessary second corner. Wouldn't call it as totally generic gameplay, yet it may seem pretty lame. At least it didn't use bunch of nameable jumps, except for 2 corners and 1 F-jump.
Third screen uses teleportation gimmick. I found it rather original and pretty fun. I guess it is the easiest screen in the game, even though it is not much of a problem. I only wish that portals were coloured differently, otherwise they just do not fit in 'woody atmosphere' .
Fourth screen I actually liked quite a lot. It uses small gaps, but I liked that it made interesting and pleasant-to-perform drop at the beginning. Changing grid also helps making screen more original than maybe it actually is. The only thing about which I am quite unsure is the last jump. It is easy to perform since you have a good align, but, still, I really wished jump rather than go off the ledge and then jump. Maybe it is a little bit original, however, for me killing ceiling seems rather specific.
Overall, needle feels a little bit like in older fangames. For the game, where avoidance is the main part, in my opinion, such a needle seems OK. It took me around 27 minutes, and I am fine with it. It isn't anything too special, yet it isn't horrible. I had fun, and it was the most important for me. Of course, for those, who are passionate about needle games this is way too bad for their standarts. But with such criterias you should criticise almost every old game. Unfortunately, some of these critics close eyes on downside of 'classic games' . Anyway, it isn't our topic today.
The real thing about which I wanted to talk about is avoidance.
The reason why I played this game at all was just because of this avoidance. For some reason the endurance draw my attention and interest, that I even wrote it in my plans. I don't know the real reason. Maybe it was because of soundtrack? Not sure. Anyway, this avoidance is around 3 minutes long and uses Bo Burnham's song Kill Yourself . The song is rather comedic, even though there is an element of reality. After looking up for lyrics, I found it very serious, yet with some smile mask on it. Everyone feel sad and lonely from time to time, and many people probably had thoughts of ending life. It is not hard to do, there are thousands of variants. However, should you really do it? Why not to go to therapist rather than giving up? Life is wodnerful, just try to find in it the beam of light. Why I am talking about this? The reason is because big part of lyrics you can clearly understand, just from listening (and even if you are not fluent in English) . Song consists from 3 parts, basically. First is the first couplet + first chorus, second one is the short intermission and third one is second couplet + second chorus + ending. What did Corrupt do in this avoidance? We have 4 attacks for first part (2 for couplet and 2 for chorus part). Then there is one huge attack for whole intermission. And finally we have the original 4 attacks + the first attack for the outro. It just fits excellently made for the song, even though it may seem rather unoriginal and generic. Moreover, I like contrasts between attacks. The first attack has medium speed, the second one – slow, third and fourth – pretty fast. Intermission is very similar to piano's slow attack from I Wanna Kill The Kamilia 3. And what I liked the most – it is totally fair. None of attacks is unfair. You can read every attack with proper reading. It is something very rare to see in fangames in general, and I appreciate it. Yes, it requires a lot of reading, and it can be very, very hard. Thus, I can say that for beginners this avoidance is too harsh. For average avoidance player it will be totally bearable. Avoidance is heavily influenced from wanna Rainbow Trap, but I think it is beneficial for the game, to be honest. Also, I almost forgot. Avoidance took me around 2 hours, yet I could beat it a lot faster if I had better reads.
To sum up, this is, surprisingly, very fun game, at least for me. I haven't played much of Corrupt's games, but I already see that he had good ideas in this game and in I wanna be the havox, which I also have played. Needle could be more original, I can agree with it, but it isn't horrible. Avoidance could have more variety, yes, but I found it rather fun even in its current state. Moreover, it fits instyle of the song, in my opinion.
Corrupt, if you read this, then I would personally recommend you to remake this game and I wanna be the havox. Or making new similarly styled avoidance is also OK. You had good ideas with these avoidances, and I think you can make a good avoidance out of it if you try. Now I think that making very good avoidance from I wanna be the Strange would take you much more than to make good game out of the material of I wanna be the Cavalry. The most important thing: do not give up! I may actually play more of your games in the future.
As for others: if you are not too prejudiced towards author or content of this game, then maybe actually try it. I won't believe that I am the only person in the world, who enjoyed it, really. I maybe overrating the game, but it is my personal opinion.

For: Sun Flower
About gameplay and visuals. Gameplay has very good amount of pattern attacks mixed with RNG ones. Even the first attack is pattern, even though it totally does not seem like pattern at all. Patterns are pretty easy for the most part and are very well synched with the music. And it is very wise using pictures and sprites associating with anime from which this soundtrack is taken from. It feels natural and more fun to do. Yes, RNG is dense. However, I didn't find it impossible or very unfair. For the most part it is just a little bit hard to read, but it is readable. Bouncing can be a little bit odd at some point (it isn't a real problem though, to be honest) .
Avoidance took me 35 minutes, and I have a lot of fun with it. It has very sweet visuals, nice soundtrack and easy, but fun-to-do gameplay, which didn't feel very hard, at least for me. I think beginners may very like this avoidance. It isn't harmful at all. Definitely would recommend to anyone (except for those who fiercely hate anime soundtracks) .
For: I wanna be the medicine for good kids
Already starting this avoidance, you will be prepared for experiencing a lot of crazy visual effects during 2 minute length of this avoidance, as you can conclude it from ton of effects in intro. Unfortunately, you have to go through these 13 seconds of avoidance all over again without doing anything special (just stand in corner) . Anyway, the first half of the avoidance (until Miku appears on screen) has mainly a lot of patterns, followed by some minor RNG attacks, which are not hard at all. Some patterns requires specific timing, like the one where big cherries bounce with Leek Mikus, but I didn't find it troubling. RNG did seem quite annoying at some point. However, it is incorrect to call it unfair, it just gives sometimes harder situations than in average. Yet amount of different effects is so astonishing, that it is still fun. The real problem is when it comes to Miku phase. When Miku is on screen you have to be prepared for something perplexing, very fast-paced and heavily RNG (at least I am very firm about it) . I really do not know is there any particularly good strat for this phase. I tried using じゅんG strats, which I found in this video –[url]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLOoj7uqdws[/url] . It seemed reasonable to go in corner rather than in some random spot without really understanding what you are doing and what you have to do. Maybe it was a mistake, but it could be twice as fair. In avoidance's current state this phase is very annoying if you don't everything after it quickly enough. And believe me, it is not really free after that phase. Unluckily, you have to deal with RNG, which you have to read very carefully. Then you have phase in which rainbow effects are very distracting, and I found that I am troubled to control kid, because I had feeling that I have laggs, even though I think I did not, it just seemed very odd. And then you have to choose whether finishing avoidance at left or right. I tried going right as よもよも did in his video –[url]https://youtu.be/HWf8w-7CG1M?t=111[/url] – and I had very unpleasant surprise. Everything is made very intuitive, until it comes to the last curving pattern. I don't know why, but I died like from 5 to 7 times on that last pattern. And I just could not understand what was wrong. I even tried going left. Yet I realised that it was a bad idea, since it is not axial symmetry principle used here. I could beat avoidance in 2 hours and 20 minutes, but I have beaten it in 4 hours and 39 minutes. Moreover, after I beat the last pattern, I wanted to make some screenshots of the outro (since you cannot die in outro) . For some reason, when I got to the clear room, I could not shoot to save or move at all, I just could push 'esc' button. Very whimsical.
I would lie that I did not have fun playing this game. The real problem is that it just ended up being totally unfun, when you have feeling that you just cannot do anything, but randomly trying to clear Miku phase. Again, maybe I had very unoptimal strats. Yet I do not know, what could be possibly better. It is not very obvious, to be honest. And this one attack really higher ups the whole difficulty too. I think that all other attacks do not have more than 40-45 difficulty. This attack makes avoidance around 50 difficulty.
To sum up, this is very aesthetical avoidance. It is fitting for those who love endurances with good visual effects. Yet you have to be prepared that it can be very annoying and frustrating if you get stuck. I even wanted to recommend this avoidance for beginenrs, since it very much reminds of I wanna eat the Mysterious xob, but a little bit harder in difficulty. Well, 'a little bit' wouldn't be very fittable, I can say you that, after beating avoidance. However, I am not trying to stop you from playing this. Despite all of problems, I can still favorite this avoidance. Just be ready that it can possibly take longer than you expected. I would recommend this avoidance if you are OK with possible grind or if you are very confident about your endurance skills.

Surprising is the fact, that this avoidance almost took me the longest to beat. 2 hours and 20 minutes, even though I totally wouldn't say that this avoidance is comparable in difficulty with Star Compass or I wanna Love vacation. The thing is that difficulty is actually around the same as Gafro rated. Still, it can take longer not only because it is 1 minute longer, but also because of set of attacks. There are many attacks where you just sit in particular savespot almost doing nothing, or attacks which are not hard enough mixed with attacks which can be actually very troubling and quite annoying.
I mean, despite any personal conflicts with zero, I like this avoidance. It is amazing to see pixelated beginning, so many changing rooms with different gameplay and followed by amazing visuals, as well as short intermission before the finale, which is indirect reminiscence of I wanna Sunspike.
Gameplay-wise it has very original mix of attacks. Yet I am troubling to call them easy enough for the beginner or for player in general. For example, attack, when fruits are sort of sucked in to the centre, while spinning around (Nogard's video for the more vivid reference: [url]https://youtu.be/k1Ed-E4D5ww?t=48[/url]) can seem pretty easy and pretty hard depending on situation or depending on fact (Spoiler!) , whether you know that Rin sprite does or does not kill. Another attack which is good-looking, but so stressful to actually do is the attack which comes right after black & white Len phase. Luckily, fruits stop killing some time before phases change, meaning that you can actually have situations where you clearly see that you hit the fruit, but for some reason you do not die. I do not want to say that this is bad, I just want to clarify that it isn't really free-to-do. Dying few times here and there, and you will just raise the time spent for avoidance. I got very quickly to around 2 minutes, dying to this pattern – [url]https://youtu.be/k1Ed-E4D5ww?t=113[/url] – and then suddenly I couldn't get to it for a long time, and when I got there I was confused by this attack and died several times on it and on next 2 similar attacks. Of course, I died on later segments to (including one time on the last phase) , but that is the fact that I stucked, getting to that point in avoidance.
Taking into consideration everything what I said before, we can conclude that there is kind of point of rating this both 71 and 48. Attacks themselves are easy. Yet it can take a lot of time, learning them. It is still whimsical to me, to rate it higher than 70, when avoidance, similar in length, like I wanna be the Snow Drive is only rated to 65, when, in my opinion, this avoidance clearly does not require so much learning, and does not have any too precise attacks. Yes, RNG can be problematic for reading, but the difficulty choice is still unclear to me.
Overall, I had fun with this avoidance. I knew that it could be fun experience for me, and I enjoyed both gameplay and visuals. Unfortunately, I am still unsure, is Supernal beings + a reward game for beating Supernal beings or given only to the friends of zero's. I am tending to think that the second one, but who knows. Anyway, would recommend this avoidance to anyone who seek for avoidances with good visuals and catchy song. I would even say, that this avoidance can be a good challenge for beginners to deal with. Well, at least I think so.
P.S. Shoutouts to Naztore! Very soon we'll see how fun actually this game is for the beginners. (laugh out loud)
For: I wanna Love vacation
Basically this avoidance is composed from 5 differently styled phases, which intersect flawlessly with each other. The first one is actually the hardest one and the one, which requires the most of learning. Normally, the first phase ends when colour of tileset changes from blue to orange. However, I would even divide this phase in two sub-phases, everything up to this point is sub-phase 1 – [url]https://youtu.be/zeS6sKs_bPs?t=15[/url]. It is just 15 seconds long, but can take a lot of time just to learn it properly. It took me around 20-40 minutes if I recall correctly. The reason for that is several patterns which changes so fast with each other, that it takes times to understand what is actually going on. It can also feel a little bit tiring to learn it. Yet I didn't feel that it is annoying or anything. It just takes time. The second phase, on the other hand, can seem a little bit easier, even though I felt on some attacks being unfair, at first. I really thought that this star attack – [url]https://youtu.be/zeS6sKs_bPs?t=22[/url] – requires using one-frames or two-frames to be consistent on them. Well, you can just go further right and then slowly going left, should be fine. The bigger problem was with this attack – [url]https://youtu.be/zeS6sKs_bPs?t=29[/url] – and just because it is very confusing. You have to read RNG, you have to aim the walls correctly and then you have to aim another line properly, so that you can go down. Still, it is bearable. After that is small RNG and very cool transition to the next phase. Just be aware that you do not stand at the very wall, otherwise it is going to be an unpleasant surprise. I think I first got to the next phase when I had been playing for an hour or so.
The next phase is entirely pattern-based and is not very hard, once you understand it. You just have to take proper savespots and jump in the right moment. I randomly passed it from third or fourth attempt, but then suddenly I couldn't understand it at all. Using Ramirus strats wasn't the bad idea. The trouble was to understand timings, especially, this part – [url]https://youtu.be/zeS6sKs_bPs?t=43[/url] – but mainly it depends on how much you are playing on it. After some time you will get used to it, and it won't be much of a problem, to be honest. The only real issue was to properly align for the first gap, but it still isn't so precise.
The third phase starts with changing colors to the firsts set, but now having two girls from previous phases both in one room. I cleared within 5-8 attempts. The only problem was to perform this pattern – [url]https://youtu.be/zeS6sKs_bPs?t=51[/url] . However, I actually used different strategy for it. I highly recommend to do this way it, as 龍之介 does it, since it makes everything much easier – [url]https://youtu.be/NyheFP8Q340?t=51[/url] . I think I did the end of the pattern very approximately, and I think I was close enough to die, yet I I somehow managed to get through it. After that I first tried the whole avoidance (not blind playthrough though) , but I am still going through it. After that tricky pattern you have to move in a particular way, just look what is the path on videos. The only problem, I guess, can be this random – [url]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeS6sKs_bPs&feature=youtu.be&t=52[/url] – so be careful with it. After that colors change and starts the fourth phase.
The fourth phase follows the way as second phase – it is entirely pattern. Therefore it can be easily done if you remember correct strats. I used 龍之介 strats, and they somehow worked for me. The phase looks hectic, in a good way. You have to avoid everything very carefully, since I guess you can die very easily on this phase. Just do not rush, otherwise you will bump into the wall of fruits. The only pattern, from which I was very scared was the last pattern before the final phase, i.e, this – [url]https://youtu.be/zeS6sKs_bPs?t=72[/url].
The finale change colors entirely to some purplish color. It is also fully pattern, I guess? The main idea is to jump as less as possible, only when really necessary. The real scary part is this – [url]https://youtu.be/zeS6sKs_bPs?t=72[/url] – , I thought I did it wrong, but somehow I didn't die on it, even though when I was first saw it, I thought that it is quite precise. Just be sure not to fail the very end of it. Pretty much it.
When we know what the gameplay is about, I will talk a little bit about visuals, song itself and other aspects. Surprisingly, this avodance has absolutely amazing visuals, similar to other マリマリオ games. I adore how he managed to use GIF files so aesthetically well. They fit excellent there with also such an amazing soundtrack! And every attack match with the visuals, I didn't have feeling that attacks are alienated from song, it is part of it. The thing which I like the most in author's style is that he uses, seamingly, standart attack sets (different stars, hearts and etc.), but they look amazing, despite that. It takes time to learn, but it is a pleasure to perform everything. Of course, I can say that RNG could be more fair, and that it is donwside of avoidance, but I think it is OK. I guess there could be found problems, but they are minor, to be honest.
Also I want to bring out one detail. I think it isn't coincidence that it is already second avoidance of マリマリオ, where I managed to beat the big part of avoidance within one attempt. Previous time it happened with I wanna be the lapis lazuli, now with this game. I think creator tried to make the accent on difficulty at the start, and tried to make ending possible to first try if you know what to expect or if you have a good amount of skill. And, personally, I think it is better than putting instagib at the very end of the avoidance.
I cleared avoidance under 2 hours ([url]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/479930956187172865/712006636646170734/Clear.jpg[/url]), while I expected for avoidance to take around 4 hours. And I think if I didn't first try most of the avoidance, then probably it would take somewhere around this. Thus, i can say in the conclusion, that I can recommend this avoidance to anyone. However, knowing how much people don't like grinding stuff, I would say, that it is better to be played if you have a huge motivation in beating this because of different reasons, whether they are connected to the soundtrack, visuals, gameplay or anything else. The other option is to play for those who are more experienced in avoidances. Patterns are precise enough to get on nerves beginner players and RNG isn't free at all. I think it shouldn't take for upper-average player to beat it under 5 hours in a non-blind playthrough, and definitelly, in my opinion, under 10 hours for average or slightly under-average player. Despite any possible critics or downside, it was a great experience for me, and I hope that it can be appreciated by anyone else too! Highly recommended!
P.S. My difficulty rating is very approximate, take that into consideration!
