Fangaming experience began in August 2018, so only modest achievements here. However, I'll describe some relevant FAQs here made to me during my stay here since 2018:

Q: Why are your reviews long and unconventional?
A: I am a film reviewer; in a way, I sort of unconsciously dragged my style of film reviewing to the world of fangames. I often involve personal experiences in my writing. Expect that structure; I'm not planning to change it.
Q: How are you rating games? Do you compare fangames as normal games that your ratings are lower than all other people ratings or are you just a critical person?
A: My ratings are not lower than people's ratings all of the time regarding fangames, but they are most of the time. However, this is not my intention. I am rating them as normal games, as in, I don't have a different spectrum for rating "normal", "official" games than fangames. They are in the same scale, because they are all videogames. I don't like to think myself as a critical person; ratings are just subjective numbers. However, I have realized that I rate games more harshly than I rate films/short films, which I do more often.
Q: What are your favorite fangames?
A: I have not played enough fangames to make a comprehensive and representative list, but this can be answered by going to my Favorites list. Anything getting 6.7 or higher will be considered immediately as a favorite.

For: I wanna be the Best Guy 4
Four weapons! More abilities! Hidden secrets and passages! Easter eggs! More Gustav! Unlockable achievements! And all of this sucks!
The full double-jump engine from Best Guy 3 is back again in more atrocious platforming to complicate your day through forced gimmicks and repetitive scenarios. The first three stages look nice, I must admit, and the music of the third stage is amazing (can't stop hearing it). From there, the overabudance of enemies of screen added with the jump engine and some "traps" deteriorate gameplay in its entirety. This is no exaggerated joke; it's a lamentable mess.
Oh, the final fight? Cool looking, but unfair moments of RNG makes it frustrating. It's a touch challenge mostly because of how unfair it is. Imagine a fight that is position-based, but now the boss chooses his position instead of you... at light speed! Magic moments can ensue.
Have you ever played a fangame that has smashed into your face that production value does not equal quality? This is one case. However, this is also a case of tremendous wasted potential. Since the very first Best Guy, I was reminded of Influka, and that though got strengthened with the very cool but equally flawed sequel. Then this comes and Influka is mentioned in the "Special Thanks" section. Interesting inspiration, but unlike Influka, Gustav alone cannot mix quality gameplay with great bosses and an ambitious production value. Maybe a team up could work? That's a dream...
Wait! It already happened! I'm just not up for such a challenge yet. Give me some more months.
For: I wanna L
So this is my hypothesis.
What I believe is that "lie" (aka "Believe") was just messing around but did have "entertainment" in mind. It was a brutal failure, but what spawned a new "genre" was the response and popularity it had. Nobody (if few) liked this game, but we all like a good challenge and then show it off as "cleared". Had this not received the response it had with so many reviews, I think this genre would have died immediately instead of inspiring countless cancerous fangame makers to release AIDS content into the wiki.
This was never meant to be an impossible game, and I can tell it was meant to be playable. How bad is the design that you can actually change your align with A and D? You have no idea. But the experience is so pointless and downright terrible that when you reach the bottom right corner you spot out a huge skip which I can't believe was overseen --> What do you prefer? Two buffed corners in a row followed by a double upwards plane, or a simple TAS jump followed by a horizontal gate? Hey, don't blame me! I wanted to finish this game asap!
If you're curious, play it. Obviously I don't recommend it but if you wanna L at least once in your life, beat the original L and then stop. I do regret it. At least Nue Houjuu's remix was ok.
For: I wanna be the Best Guy 3
The problems are several. However, I will rank them according to their importance:
-The engine is strikingly awful. No matter how many frames you jump, you will always make a full jump. However, the second jump acts in the same way: as a full first jump regardless of the frame input. If you will experiment with an engine, it's fine, as long as the gameplay suits the game. It doesn't. It ruins the entire game and costs several dozens of deaths and five extra points of difficulty. That leads us to...
-...the platforming. Horrible again, as it is known in the series, and this time, there are more segments. There are tons of moments where you would benefit from the old engine, but that is not the case. You have to maneuver and calculate with two full jumps and a very stiff Kid.
-The bosses are extraordinarily boring. The first boss in particular threw all the creativity down the drain, and therefore, all future bosses are recycled from the previous entry, including the final boss, which visuals are, yes, amazing, but copy-pasted from the true final boss of IWBTBG 2, except for a man in a water stage that is upside down and throws green pixelated diarrhea at you. Several unfair attacks when combined one after the other bring along a truly bad experience.
-The visuals! Yeah! Ever stumbled upon any game where it strikes you that production value does not equal to quality or being "good"? This is one case. It is paradoxical that Gustav improved the graphics, but the tilesets are still Guy tower tiles, brown tiles, green grass tiles, etc., just like I Wanna Be the Guy! There are even TWO stages that resemble Guy's tower. This is trying to polish garbage.
This is one of the sad cases where the phrase "wasted potential" truly applies. What a shame, because I can see something behind the trilogy: a wild meme ride with fantastic bosses and promising visuals. However, they seem to be mutually exclusive.
Gustav, I will keep trying your games until a proper balance is reached, like Timemachine.
For: I wanna be the Best Guy 2
Gustav at least acknowledges that he's garbage at platforming and does not make big platforming stages between each boss. The story is as stupid as the original NES classic Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, but the payoff is sensational. The platforming segments are so small that their absolute lack of quality almost doesn't seem to matter (it still does, mind you). So, the experience consists in fighting boss after boss. The two best boss fights of the previous underrated (but still garbage) game are recycled... and for good measure! They are utterly sensational. The last fight does something better than the very Boshy did: having the full version of Agnus Dei. With exceptional boss concepts, except for the second boss (which was meh) and the fifth boss which was remarkably easy (this seems to be an in-game joke for what really is the final boss), as a boss rush the concept works splendidly. Unfortunately you have to be interrupted by cancerous platforming segments, but not difficulty-wise, but garbage-wise. For the record, Gustav Counterfelt is one of the coolest bosses in fangame history.
Also, there is a Crazy mode for the game, and you should consider an 80 difficulty from me for that. It just happens not only that you can play as Gustav, but also that it shows the true final boss of the game, and it is a monstrous spectacle! It is like the true story told from Gustav's perspective fighting his own demons in a fantastically epic fashion.
So, to sum up, a significant improvement from the first fangame, cancer platforming, an idiotic story, mostly wonderful bosses, a breathtaking final fight and golden extra content. Still tons to improve, but at least it improved a ton from the original.
