For: I wanna KeyPick 100
For: I wanna KeyPick 100
(Review mentions extra, rating does not include it) An interesting one, for sure. This guy has demonstrated a penchant for puzzles and I'm a fan of that. Having played through the vast majority of Gaze though, I felt that the keypick stage was far and away the worst thing in the game so this intrigued me - either it was commitment to a mistake or a chance to redeem himself. In this case, it was the latter.
Unlike the keypick stage in Horizon, these puzzles are much more compacted and actually use some interesting and complicated concepts instead of 'how many doors and tedious timesinks can be jammed into a single screen'. In that regard, the design is much improved.
Unfortunately, instead, this game suffers from the classic 100 Floor syndrome though, seen in a lot of games of the genre. I would flag roughly about half of the floors completely meaningless and repetitive. The solution in these are either basically the exact same as a previous, with no interesting concepts and no real difficulty. Fortunately there's a number of good ones along the way, as he certainly adds a lot of depth to the concept compared to the horizon stage. Unfortunately it also suffers from a bit too much complexity jammed into a little door, and can frequently make it difficult to tell exactly whats going on. I imagine the in-game instructions help with that, but they are all in Japanese so be aware of that.
Overall its a good puzzle game - I wouldn't say ever gets very difficult though some rooms get long enough that they become tough to get through if you don't want to plan it out. The platforming is basically non-existent, and to some extent detracts from the game as there's a ton of walking back and forth in empty space just from one spot to another, frequently in layouts where its not optimized for convenient paths. Finally, there's a nice little boss at the end - very easy but serves as a nice finale for the game.
There is an extra that requires finding shiny keys. Some of these are okay, most of them are just stupid. There is a guide available here if interested (credit to whoever posted it, it wasn't me). That said, extra is just a re-hash of the tedious Horizon stage, so not really worth the trouble.
I'd recommend this if you like puzzles and want to take it easy as you'll have a lot of time just walking back and forth to not stress yourself out. The puzzles do not get too difficult (much easier than Ponder or Horizon's), so it's probably a decent intermediary choice between something like Design or Solve Color Puzzle in the scope of Fangame puzzle games before the aforementioned harder ones.

The third game in Piece's reimagining of classic gimmick series, this time its all about the water.
It had a high standard to live up to, and from a design and production standpoint it definitely did. The level design is great, maintaining but improving the style of the traditional gimmick needle with weird interludes between them to add flavor. Visually, it continues to improve and there's a lot of nice polish and effects in this one.
That said, I probably had the least fun with this one. There are (as you'd imagine) many types of water and they're certainly designed around well, but the choices for the water gimmicks left a little bit to be desired for me. Whereas jungle/jumple both offered variations that let you do things you wouldn't normally do and allowing the player a sense of freedom and style (as these air-time based gimmicks are known to do), the choices here felt a lot more limiting. While they changed the way your approach obstacles and the inputs to overcome them in interesting ways, many of these water gimmicks felt like they limited the players ability rather than amplified it by removing or hindering control schemes.
Nonetheless, its still a really good gimmick needle game and worth a play if you liked the previous and like something a little spicier than regular needle. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys gimmick needle as long but with the caveat that if you hate gimmicks like ice or conveyors and such that force the players movement in specific ways, to expect a bit of frustration with this. Also worth noting this is probably the easiest of the trilogy, which worked well, and given there isn't a necessity to doing them in any order is a perfectly viable starting point for the series.

A really concise little adventure game submitted for Shortventure 2018. Looks great but not too much meat to it. Still, it has a couple of interesting bosses and a nice environment.
Play it if you want something quick, easy and nice to look at.

A nice short enjoyable game with a ton of charm. First thing that stands out immediately is the voicework - all the custom sfx and voice acting was done by Arthur himself and its the right level of silly and thematic, giving the game a ton of charm. The gameplay is solid - it introduces a neat gimmick and creates a bunch of obstacles focused around it.
The boss is a little repetitive but its a nice culmination of the gimmick and it wraps it up nicely. Overall its worth playing for any adventure game fan looking to spend a little time on something charming.

Another classic Erik game. Sequel to last year's contest, I Wanna Grow Up. Polished personally done artwork, humorous references, whimsical enemies and exciting boss fights abound. He maintains his formula here and seems to refine it a little bit with each game.
Definitely recommended to anyone familiar with his style and wanting more or anyone who likes a nice, very fair short-medium length adventure game.
