Interesting style of needle. Clean visuals, 5 screens long. First screen/save was too long with a couple of annoying jumps but after that everything was neat.

Kind of a strange little game. Hard to classify but I'd call it a short adventure game. Opens with some ominous narration which continues throughout the game. The production is quite good. The aesthetic is very simple at times but fits the ambience, sprinkling in additional effects when suitable.
The platforming is pretty needly with some gimmicks, The readme curiously indicates that he didn't put much thought into it and it some places it definitely shows, but for the most part the integration of slightly less standard gimmicks plays out reasonably well. The last stage, however, was pretty bad as it degraded into bland 32px needle except with minor obfuscation on your character, what a great gimmick.
The boss was super RNG heavy to the point of being annoying at times, though it wasn't particularly difficult so it wasn't a dealbreaker, but it could've used some revision. The avoidance at the end is also fairly RNG heavy and while rarely, would do really stupid things.
Overall its pretty decent. There's some visibility problems (including the pre-final boss save which was irritating as the last platforming save sucked and i did it several times before accidentally triggering it). Visuals are clean and music is fitting and the author clearly put some effort into creating an ambiance. Its worth playing if you're looking for a shortish (~1-2 hour), kind of weird little game.

A decidedly okay needle game. I felt like it got worse as time went on - the start was more interesting and the second to last area felt like it was just one very precise jump with a bunch of filler around it.
Finally, it ends in a cliche one-jump per room section which while not difficult compared to the rest of the game had no logical difficulty curve, felt all over the place and did the usual mistake of requiring the player to walk across half a room first for no apparent reason.
Sheep makes some creative jumps, and it shows here, but creative isn't always that interesting.

This game is incredibly creative - probably the thing that stands out most about it. Every screen, every stage really characterizes this. There's a ton of creative gimmicks, creative traps and creative bosses.
From a platforming perspective this usually works out. You'll see new stuff constantly and there's a ton of variety. Sometimes you'll go for a bit without a trap and it'll come up with something weird to surprise and crush you. Production in the stages is great to keep in line with this, making it feel like everything changes all the time.
From a boss perspective... well, that's a different story. Every boss is interesting and creative, there's no doubt about that. However it really doesn't work so well here. In fact, this game has probably some of the worst design in bosses I've ever seen in fangames. Every single boss has something astoundingly terrible about it. On the other hand - they're all still creative and not very hard, so it really doesn't bog you down. If anything, it feels like a wow moment where you wonder how anyone thought it was a good idea and then you move on which is a peculiar dynamic. I'm glad the makers didn't go for difficulty or this would be a truly terrible experience.
All in all, its still very good. There's a ton of fun stuff and the terrible parts don't really get in your way for long. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a pretty easy game filled with tons of variety.

8bit is a well renowned forever-unfinished adventure game that has probably attained classic status. Its very easy to see why it earned that title, as it has a good amount of variety, content and quality.
Production is high, with quite frequent tile changes (most seem to be megaman inspired) and music changes keeping the visual feel fresh - sound effects (an aspect of fangames oft left behind) are abundant and add a good feel to the game. Overall, the production quality in 8bit definitely stands the test of time, though a few aspects definitely feel outdated (save placement with touch saves is a big one here.)
Gameplay wise, the game has a very distinct style that it sticks to. I'd have liked to seen more variety in how its applied but Seph sticks to something he clearly knows well. Almost all of the platforming challenge comes from working around timing cycle - so depending on how you like that, you should know right away if this game is or isn't for you. Generally when he approaches platforming differently it seems to feel much easier, resulting in the majority of the time spent on those cycle sections. Despite that, though, he uses a wide variety of sprites, shapes and concepts to atleast keep the patterns interesting, rather than just dodging moving apples for days. Likewise, the bosses follow a similar template - there's almost no randomness (if any at all) - everything is learning a pattern and every attack appears in a specific order. A traditional formula that he does well enough, but again - I'd have liked to see more variety on them.
Overall, the game holds its own well and were it ever finished would certainly still be great despite the age of parts of it. It feels like a complete enough game that the fact its unfinished won't leave you feeling like you're missing out (as some do, with abrupt endings or conspicuous gaps). I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a solid adventure game and doesn't mind a little bit of a lack of variety.
